Hollywood Perfume
Okay so a lot of people have asked me to continue this story and I had written a long sequel but I wasn’t happy with it so I didn’t post it. Then Kitten put up her album songfic challenge and I happened to be listening to the right album at the time so now my one shot is going to be a long chapter story. I hope it lives up to the first chapter. The chapters will be based off of the theme of the song.
Anyway the album is Last of the Independents by The Pretenders
Chapter 2: Hollywood Perfume
Kagome’s watch went off at 7 a.m. signaling her need to return to her friends. Sesshomaru growled and grabbed her wrist to inspect the contraption that had emitted the annoying, high pitched beep over and over again.
“It’s called a watch it keeps track of the time,” she said softly. “I set an alarm to tell me when to get up so I would have time to get back to camp,” she pulled her wrist gently from his grasp and turned off the alarm.
Sesshomaru growled and got out from underneath her. “You said you would stay.” He golden eyes bore down on her as he schooled his face to show nothing.
Kagome sat up and brushed the dirt off her side, her entire body ached and she longed for a relaxing soak in the hot spring but she knew she could only afford a few minutes for a quick scrub before she had to run back to camp. “I want to stay, I want to help you Sesshomaru.” She finally got the nerve to look up into his eyes. “But what happens when Inuyasha comes looking for me and finds you, with me, naked? Are you going to let him attack you? No. You’re going to fight back, without your swords.”
Ignoring her screaming muscles and the growling taiyoukai she stood up and moved closer to him, his angry eyes didn’t stray from her face as she looked up at him and silently pleaded for his understanding. “I can’t choose sides in that fight anymore. I don’t want either of you to get hurt because of me.”
His lip lifted into a sneer, “You lied woman.”
“What did you expect Sesshomaru? Did you think I would just leave them behind? I can’t do that they are my friends and we are still trying to find Naraku.” She lifted her hand to his cheek but he stepped out of her reach. “I don’t want to leave you like this,” she let her hand fall to her side as she tried to find some middle ground for them.
“Thank you for your aid Kagome,” he watched her eyes widen in shock and he couldn’t bear to stand there anymore while she tried to justify herself.
He ran, he had never run from anything in his life and yet today he ran with all his might from a human girl and the dagger she had unintentionally stabbed into him. He was a blur of silver as he raced through the trees toward his swords and armor, they were the only things he remembered surviving the initial frenzy.
The sun began to rise up into the sky as he darted through the thick forests as he avoided sun-kissed fields. The sweet scent of the incarnation’s blood still filled the air and as he moved closer to the clearing he could feel the poison stir in his blood. He growled and pressed on further even though he wanted to turn around and take Kagome once more before she could return to her beloved hanyou.
His eyes bled crimson as his steps slowed until he was walking at his normal pace into the open field while he fought for control, unsure if he was fighting to retrieve his armor or to return to the human miko. He was on fire again; the poison was growing inside him as if the air was tainted with it.
The trees parted around him revealing what was left of the battleground, the plants had gone wild and grown into tall grass and large twisted flowers, vines threaded around trees as tried to strangle them as the trees themselves seemed to have grown to enormous heights. The vile poison had affected the very land it was spilt on.
He stopped at the edge of the clearing, he couldn’t go any closer or he would lose himself once more. The scent filled his senses and made his head spin as it called forth the poison in his blood. Every nerve ending lit up with pleasure as his knees weakened and his balls grew heavier. Sweat covered his lean body as he fought not to answer the vile poison’s call.
Memories of last night flashed in front of his eyes of the raven haired miko that brought him to heaven and hell with her sensuous body. The memory of her tongue gliding around the shaft of his painful erection made his eyes roll up into his head and his hand grasped his cock to relieve the excruciating pressure.
He had to get out of there, his swords were lost to him as long as the blood remained. His chest was heaving, taking in more of the poison turning the fire in his blood into an inferno. He forced his feet to retreat back into the forest while his hand continued to pump his cock and visions of Kagome taunted him.
She abandoned him even though she promised she would stay, but he couldn’t blame her. They were allies because of a common enemy, nothing more. His chest ached with that thought but he pushed it aside as he felt his orgasm draw near.
He dropped to his knees in the middle of the forest and howled as his seed shot onto the forest floor. He was alone with this curse once more he didn’t need her to help him. He was doing just fine on his own before she stumbled upon him and he would do fine again. It would go away eventually and so would his longing for her tight sheath and her soft mewls of pleasure.
*****************************************************
“He’s gone,” she continued to tell herself as she walked through the woods to the camp. “He’s gone and there is nothing I can do,” she tried her best to convince herself that she was doing the right thing. Her friends needed her and she had a duty to fulfill no matter how delectable and fun the night had been she couldn’t stay with him.
“He’ll be fine,” her heart clenched. She looked over her shoulder and bit her lip as she remembered the way he had looked before he ran, he looked hurt.
The scent of roasting meat drifted through the trees, she was close to the camp and she was late. “What’s done is done,” she jogged the rest of the way going over her excuse in her head. She stepped into the small camp and stopped short. Everything was packed up. Inuyasha stopped his pacing and turned to her.
“Where the hell have you been?” he demanded though she could see the relief in his eyes.
Shippo launched into her arms and snuggled against her. “Hi guys,” she said and held the kit in one arm and her bathing bag in the other. “I’m so sorry Inuyasha I went to take a bath last night and kinda fell asleep,” she bit her lower lip and looked around the packed up camp. Miroku was meditating and Sango sat near him in her demon slayer outfit inspecting her Hirakotsu. “What’s going on?”
“Feh figures, now that you’re back we can get moving,” Inuyasha grumbled.
Satisfied with Hirakotsu’s condition Sango stood up and strapped the large bone to her back. “Myoga stopped by this morning and told us that he heard that one of Naraku’s incarnations was not too far north of us.” She nudged Miroku lightly, “we’re going to check it out.”
Kagome nodded and set Shippo down and put her bathing supplies into her yellow bag. She looked down at her wrinkled clothes from yesterday and frowned. She had changed back into her dirty clothes because she was sure they didn’t smell like Sesshomaru but they weren’t really meant to fight in.
She looked up at Inuyasha, “do you mind if I change real quick? These clothes are a little restrictive if we meet up with an incarnation.”
“Feh, whatever it isn’t like you haven’t slowed us down enough today,” Inuyasha grumbled.
“That was uncalled for Inuyasha,” Sango said. “Go ahead Kagome we already decided that we aren’t going to rush.”
“Yes Naraku’s incarnations are normally more secretive,” Miroku said.
Kagome quickly pulled out fresh undergarments a pair of jeans with a long sleeve ribbed sweater. “You think it’s a trap?”
“Most likely,” Miroku answered.
She stood with the clothes and walked past Miroku and Sango to the trees behind them and quickly changed while Sango continued to remind Miroku where to keep his eyes. She looked down at herself and smiled realizing what sweater she had chosen. The dark pink was the same color as Sesshomaru’s stripes.
She gathered her old clothes and walked back to her bag, pushing the thought of the demon lord from her mind. Last night had been wonderful though it was the result of a very unfortunate circumstance she was glad it had happened. Now they had to move on, he would probably never acknowledge that it had even happened but she was content.
“What are you smiling about wench?” Inuyasha said, “were going to hunt Naraku and you have a stupid smile on your face.”
Kagome dropped her head so that it hid her face and forced the smile from her lips, “sorry Inuyasha, let’s get moving k?”
“Feh,” Inuyasha moved out of the clearing before calling over his shoulder, “let’s go.”
The group quickly followed after him in silence. They moved north at a normal pace Inuyasha led the way followed by Miroku and Sango while Kagome trailed behind with Shippo in her arms. She couldn’t help but look behind her hoping to catch a flash of silver but she quickly turned around and berated herself for her foolish thoughts.
By noon Sango had fallen back next to Kagome and Miroku had gone up to Inuyasha who was grumbling about the “weird shit going on”. While Miroku tried to calm Inuyasha Sango slowed Kagome down so that there was more distance between Kagome and Inuyasha.
“Is something wrong Kagome?” Sango whispered.
“Huh?” Kagome looked up and noticed Inuyasha’s ears twitch signaling he could hear the conversation. “Everything’s fine I’m just thinking,” she said and pointedly looked at the older woman before moving her eyes in the hanyou’s direction.
Sango nodded in understanding, “if you’re tired Kilala can carry us for awhile I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.”
Kagome looked at the two men walking in front of them, Inuyasha’s ears looked like they would fall off with how far he had them twisted around. He wanted to know what was up, it had been so long since she had kept anything from him since it no longer bothered her that he ran to Kikyo almost every night, and they barely quarreled. She rarely even ‘sat’ him.
Oddly she didn’t feel ashamed for being with Sesshomaru she knew what she was doing when she went to him but, that didn’t mean she could tell Inuyasha. He would freak and she wasn’t sure what would happen. She knew for a fact that he would go after Sesshomaru but she wouldn’t be able to stand on the side and watch them battle. The real question was, would they still have a friendship if he knew? She didn’t know the answer and it scared her.
“Yeah I am kind of tired,” she looked down at Shippo as he snuggled in her arms. He wouldn’t judge her and she was pretty sure he wouldn’t tell anyone so she didn’t ask him to go to the boys.
Kilala leapt from Sango’s arms and transformed, Sango sat in the front and took Shippo so Kagome could wrap her arms around Sango’s waist.
“Thanks,” Kagome whispered as they rose up into the sky. Kilala took them up high above the canopy and out of Inuyasha’s earshot.
“Don’t worry about it Kagome I want to know what’s bothering you and why you don’t want to tell Inuyasha,” Sango said.
Kagome nodded, “you guys have to promise that you won’t tell him, he’ll freak out.”
“Don’t worry Kagome I’m a fox demon we love secrets,” Shippo’s green eyes twinkled as he peered over Kilala to the green canopy below them. “Even if he jumps from tree to tree he won’t hear us.”
“You have our silence,” Sango said. “Did something happen last night?”
“Thanks guys, yeah something happened,” the soft smile returned to her face and she glanced behind them even knowing she wouldn’t see him. “I can’t go into too many details but well Sesshomaru was at the hot spring last night.”
“What?” Sango turned and looked over her shoulder at the blushing miko. “Kagome tell me you’re joking.”
“Let me finish Sango,” Kagome pleaded and waited until Sango nodded before continuing. “He said something about being poisoned by someone’s blood. It was odd because he had once told me that poison didn’t affect him, maybe he meant human poisons.” She shrugged, “it doesn’t really matter he was in the hot spring and boy was he ‘affected’. Um,” she looked down at Shippo who was peeking over Sango’s shoulder to listen. “maybe Shippo you should um cover your ears.”
“Oh please Kagome, I may look like a kid but I’m forty years old I think I know what happens when ‘grownups’ meet at a hot spring.” Shippo rolled his eyes, “you had sex with Sesshomaru.”
“Shippo,” Sango gasped, they all knew he was older than he looked and used his size to manipulate people but it was unnerving to hear him talk about adult things when he still looked and acted like a child.
Kagome shook her head, “you may be forty Shippo but you are still a kit.”
“I’m still older than you,” he pouted.
“I know Shippo,” she leaned in and kissed his forehead.
“Kagome how could you do that?” Sango asked.
“The same way you and Miroku do it I suppose,” she gave Sango a flat look until the demon slayer blushed. “Please just try to understand Sango I won’t look at last night as a mistake but I can’t tell Inuyasha.”
“Will you see him again,” Sango asked.
“I doubt it, we didn’t leave on the best of terms,” Kagome mumbled and glanced back wishing she had been able to stay, she would be in his arms right now. She shook her head no if she had stayed she would’ve been stuck in the middle of a very dangerous fight right now. “He’ll understand eventually.”
“You left him?” Sango asked, she couldn’t believe it not only had her best friend and sister slept with Sesshomaru but then she left him to come back to Inuyasha.
“Of course I did. I had to. What was I going to do come back to camp holding hands and wave to Inuyasha,” a choked laugh spilled from her lips. “I have a duty to collect the shards and bring down Naraku and Inuyasha is my best friend I can’t hurt him like that.”
“Did you want to?” Sango asked.
“Want to what?” Kagome asked.
“Stay with him,” Sango said.
Kagome felt the tears build as the ache in her chest throbbed; she closed her eyes and nodded as the first tear slipped down her cheek. “It doesn’t matter what I want Sango I don’t have a choice.”
Sango wanted to turn around and give Kagome the hug she seemed to need, instead she squeezed her hand. “Next time we cross paths you should try and talk to him.”
“Yeah I guess so, I just hope he’s okay,” Kagome whispered and dried her tears with her free hand. “The poison is very potent stuff, I was going to tell him to see Jinenji to see if he could find a cure but once I told him I was leaving we fought and then he ran off.”
“I’m sure he’s fine,” Shippo said. “Sesshomaru is the strongest demon I know, I’m sure he can fight off the poison on his own.”
Kagome nodded knowing that he had been doing just that for almost a month, “thanks Shippo, so you guys don’t hate me?”
“I could never hate you Kagome,” Shippo cried and climbed over Sango’s shoulder to hug Kagome.
“I don’t hate you Kagome, it’s Sesshomaru you could do much worse,” Sango sighed. “But you’re right Inuyasha won’t understand.”
“I know, I’m just glad I could tell someone, now maybe I can move on,” Kagome said.
“If that is what you want, no matter what happens Kagome you can come talk to me,” Sango said.
“Me too, you can talk to me too,” Shippo said and hugged her tighter.
“You guys are too good to me, thanks for understanding,” Kagome hugged them both as much as she could. “We should go lower before Inuyasha jumps up and starts demanding answers.”
Kilala immediately descended and flew just above the tree tops, below Inuyasha glared up at them but didn’t say anything. Kagome always liked girl talk with Sango she just normally waited for a bath before spilling all her girly guts to the slayer.
Miroku walked next to the hanyou in silence, he would talk to Sango tonight and if she didn’t share he would drop the subject. Until then he had more important things to worry about, like the dark energy they were walking toward.
*****************************************
They stopped for a quick lunch and afterwards Inuyasha told Kagome to get on his back so they could cover more land before nightfall. The others quickly mounted Kilala assuming he caught wind of Naraku. They sped through the forest in silence as they all prepared for battle.
The sun was setting to the west but Inuyasha continued on which put everyone on alert. As the last rays of sun disappeared Inuyasha finally slowed down, his hands squeezing Kagome’s legs lightly as he sniffed the air.
“Is it Naraku?” Kagome asked.
Inuyasha continued to take in large breaths as he moved forward his voice came with the edge of a growl, “I smell blood, lots of it and his scent is there but the blood.” He growled and held her tighter.
“Inuyasha?” Kagome asked.
He growled and continued forward, “it smells sweet.”
“Let me down Inuyasha,” Kagome commanded but he kept moving forward. “Sango, don’t come any closer something is wrong with Inuyasha.” She shouted and shuddered when Inuyasha growled.
Darkness surrounded them but she could see the faint outlines of trees ahead signaling a clearing, a familiar energy emanated from the area ahead. Gritting her teeth she hissed, “Sit.”
They slammed to the ground and Kagome groaned as pain shot up her legs. She slowly climbed off of the hanyou’s back.
“Is everything alright Kagome?” Sango called from behind her.
Kagome kept her eyes on Inuyasha as he growled on the forest floor. “I don’t know Sango, it’s something he smelled, don’t come any closer I don’t know if it will affect anyone else.” She circled Inuyasha until she was standing in front of him but stayed out of his reach. “Inuyasha?”
He jumped up into a crouch and looked up at her growling, his golden eyes burning into her. The familiar heated look caused her to step back. She looked down the front of the hanyou and found a bulge twitching in his pants. “The poison,” she whispered.
“Kagome,” Inuyasha growled and stood up. He noticed where she was looking and smirked. He bucked his hips at her.
Her eyes snapped to his face, “sit.” She watched him fall to the earth and quickly erected a barrier over him. He growled and jumped to his feet but he didn’t try to test the barrier. “What the fuck Kagome?”
“I’m sorry Inuyasha but you aren’t yourself right now,” Kagome said.
“Why because I find you attractive, I want you Kagome can’t you see that,” his hand rubbed his clothed dick and he moaned. “Ugh I want you so bad why are you denying me.”
She shook her head, “you don’t want me Inuyasha it’s the blood, it’s a poison of some sort, you’re not thinking clearly.”
The hanyou took in a large breath and moaned as his blood burned, “I want you.”
“Lady Kagome?” Miroku moved up next to her and studied Inuyasha as he began to untie his hakamas. “Inuyasha what are you doing?”
Kagome turned around so she couldn’t watch and Inuyasha growled, “look at me bitch.”
Tears fell down her cheeks, she looked over at Miroku. “It’s the blood, it’s a poison but apparently humans can’t smell it. It must be coming from up ahead,” she closed her eyes and tried to block out the grunts Inuyasha was making.
“What can we do?” Miroku asked.
“Make camp somewhere, try to stay as far away as you can so Kilala and Shippo aren’t affected I’m going to go ahead to try and purify it.” Kagome said, she slipped her bag off her shoulders and pulled out her small flashlight then gave her bag to Miroku.
“How do you know about this poison?” Miroku asked.
Kagome glanced back at Inuyasha but quickly turned away from the hanyou, “ask Sango and tell her what I said about Inuyasha. Leave him here, he should be safe in the barrier.”
“Will he be alright?” Miroku asked.
“Probably but I need to get rid of the blood if just the scent of it is doing this I don’t want to chance anyone touching it.” Kagome flicked on her light and started walking away.
“Get back here Kagome,” Inuyasha hollered.
Miroku watched Kagome leave before turning around and going back to Sango and the rest for answers. Shippo and Kilala were trying to hold their noses closed.
“Ugh it reeks,” Shippo moaned.
“You smell it?” Miroku asked.
“Who doesn’t? That stuff is rancid,” he answered with his nose pinched closed. “Where are Kagome and Inuyasha?”
“It seems that the scent has a different effect on different youkai, Inuyasha is indisposed at the moment and Kagome is going to take care of the smell.” He turned to Sango and studied her face, she seemed confused. “Sango, Kagome told me to ask you about the poison she said you would know what it was and what she was talking about.”
The color drained from Sango’s face and she looked into the darkness where her friend had gone, “Where is Inuyasha?”
“Kagome put him inside a barrier for his own protection and I suspect her protection as well.” Miroku said.
Sango nodded and explained what happened to Kagome last night, smacking him lightly when his eyes twinkled with a lecherous gleam. “It seems that the blood is meant specifically for dog demons.”
“I see, Naraku planned well as usual, the way Inuyasha is behaving the brothers would be easily defeated or perhaps it was meant as a form of control.” Miroku sat down on the ground and placed Kagome’s pack beside him.
“Naraku sickens me,” Sango hissed. “I’m going to gather some wood.” Miroku handed her the spare flashlight from Kagome’s pack and watched her walk around the trees.
****************************************************
Kagome notched an arrow and let it fire across the field, the pink light blazed through the mangled field. She watched the bloody earth sizzle before exploding into a fine dust. She pulled another arrow and aimed it again toward another section of the clearing; she could feel demonic energy spilling out from that corner of the field and quickly released the arrow toward the malicious aura.
The earth exploded and the aura dimmed but it didn’t die out. She notched another arrow and crept forward scanning the area in the dim light of the moon. At the edge of the clearing a sword lay on the ground. Kagome looked down at it as the aura swirled around it quickly placed a barrier over Tokijin.
“He’ll be pissed when he can’t get it but that sword is almost as bad as this stupid blood.” Kagome said to herself before notching another arrow and letting it fly. She repeated the action twice more clearing most of the field of the toxic blood.
She notched her sixth arrow for the final portion and aimed. Something glinted in the moonlight and noticed the familiar energy originated from that area of the field. She lowered the bow and arrow and held them in one hand so she could get her flashlight. Flicking it on, she pointed the beam forward and gasped. Tenseiga was tangled in vines and pinned to a tree, the blood coated the sword and the vines.
Turning off the light she put it back in her pocket and notched the arrow again, this time she dropped to her knee and aimed up above Tenseiga’s hilt. She bit her lip and prayed her purification arrow didn’t damage the sword. She released the arrow and watched it fly straight and true. The ground and tree exploded in pink light and covered the area in light dust finally transforming the wild and twisted area back into a calm field where new life could begin to take root.
She rushed over to where the tree had been and found Tenseiga and his armor clean of the blood. She slung her bow back over her shoulder and searched the area with her aura. At the edge of her senses she felt the familiar tug on her soul. It wasn’t a surprise, Kikyo was never too far from her lover and though she refused to join the group she had been their shadow for months.
Happy that she didn’t have to waste too much time searching for her predecessor she slung her bow over her shoulder and pulled out her flashlight as she strode into the dark woods letting her aura announce her approach.
Kikyo watched her reincarnation walk towards her with a guarded expression. Kagome didn’t bother with formalities she knew what needed to be done to help Inuyasha and she was not going to be the one to do it.
“Inuyasha is in a bit of a bind I’ve come to ask you to help him out,” Kagome said.
Kikyo regarded the younger girl, “and how can I help him that you cannot?”
“Will not,” Kagome corrected. “Naraku sent out a new incarnation whose blood has affected him and caused his libido to skyrocket. The only way to quickly rid his body of the poison is sex, since that is your department and not mine I’m asking you to help him. I have him in a barrier about ten minutes that way,” Kagome pointed east.
“I’m surprised you aren’t jumping at the chance to be with him,” Kikyo said.
Kagome shook her head, “we both know he chose you and I’m okay with that I know he goes to you almost every night.’ She crossed her arms in front of her chest. “I don’t care Kikyo I don’t love him like that anymore.”
“And how do you know sex is the only cure?” Kikyo asked.
“That is none of your business are you going to help him or not?” Kagome asked.
“Very well I will help him,” Kikyo said.
“Thank you,” Kagome turned and walked back toward the clearing.
“Where are you going?” Kikyo called.
“I have something I need to get, I won’t be back until morning probably so please take your time,” Kagome said and then walked out of sight. She had no intention of going back to camp and listening to those two all night she only hoped Miroku had taken her advice and moved far away.
Tonight she would sleep by Tenseiga and watch over the two swords, though part of her admitted she was hoping he would come for them tonight. Tomorrow they would have to move on.
She walked back into the clearing. His aura hit her seconds before Sesshomaru flew into the clearing and pinned her up against the tree behind her. She screamed, her hands quickly rose to his as she tried to pry his fingers from her neck. Kagome’s eyes met glowing crimson eyes and she bit her lips shut from screaming again.
Questions flew through her head as he leaned into her, his large cock ground into his abdomen as he inhaled her scent. Fear tainted her natural light sakura scent, he blinked and tried to clear the fog from his mind. He couldn’t remember how he got here, just that the scent of the poison was replaced with the alluring scent of sakura blossoms that promised relief from his pain.
