Distant Lullabies From Oblivion
Break down: [ ] text within the brackets are thoughts. Enjoy! ^_^
The city lights cast a welcoming warmth to the life that rushed below the building she was observing on. She Always watched how they avoided the shadows and kept in the light, as if knowing that beasts never known, or meant to roam in this world, would consume them both physically and mentally. [How right they are]. The truth of the situation is, there was another world beneath the one they have known and loved, a deceptive reality of sorts, that has and forever kept them ignorant to the beasts that hide beyond their security...their light. She was never meant to relish in the comfort of the light but had for a certain time, a characteristic that made her a rarity among the kind of her former self. A rarity that had cost her those who were dear to her. [Loneliness is my one true friend]. She was meant to dwell in the darkness but found refuge within the light. But it was forbidden and found her light in him.
She always had many suitors due to the fact that she was one of a kind but she never paid them any mind. She didn’t need or want to become someone’s prized possession. All she wanted, needed, was to find herself...even though she had no idea at the moment how to accomplish that.
They all wanted to show her off like some fascinating freak show but he, he accepted her for who she was...a newly made creature of the shadows. He admired her long raven tresses and ran his chilling fingers through it on many nights after love making, he worshiped her curvaceous and well proportioned figure to the point he claimed to do so for eternity, [who knew eternity would be so short], and he loved her unique turquoise eyes and always had them trained on him during their most intimate moments. [Lies. All lies]. He was a beautiful deceiver and used the recent loss of her humanity to gain her favor. [Manipulation and deception will be the downfall of the humans]. Her thoughts were interrupted by hearty laughter below her refuge...below the darkness and in the light. She leaned in more and dropped her eyes from her shadowy imprisonment, to the streets below. Her glowing amethyst eyes narrowed at the scene before her.
A young couple walked down the busy street hand in hand. Her acute hearing picked up the conversation revolving a great event that involved a blank colored dress and a color that was often affiliated with death. [Such a gloomy description for an equally dreaded event]. She snorted at that thought. What was the point of wedding when it will only be ended by a painful misery and death? Flashes of her in a beautifully blank gown greeting the guests haunted her mind. She forcefully shook her head. [No. That was a day that was never meant to be and taught me that happiness is unattainable. My life was forfeit from the very moment I spoke the dreaded words “I do.”] He gave her away to experimentation right after that “blissful” day. He identified himself as the real monster he was born and raised to be. [Hm. I have less of a right to call him a monster, for I am more of one than him].
He left me to the probing of scientist while he made off with a modeling whore that he had picked up on our “honeymoon.”[ little did I know that at the time, he was screwing her while I was in the shower after our “holy” exchange. That’s naive to the fullest! Thinking he was ill when I heard the moans and groans on the other side of the door...The bastard!] He never came back for me, not even after the doctors announced me as a “success.” [success my ass! I was made into an abnormality of an abnormality! Only difference is that I’m the only one of my kind]. She had no place in the light...and forcefully lost her place in the captivating darkness. She had no right to this world...and never will.
Since he never returned for his new “doll,” she was set for termination. That was when she escaped. The beauty of being the only one of her kind was the fact that there was no prior knowledge to her abilities. [The fools! They must be tossing and turning in their graves for creating an individual species!] And here she was, back in her “born” town. 50 years have passed. Long but a useful 50 years. She spent every day training and gaining power from her conquered enemies. Using what little they possessed to aid her in her quest for revenge from the one who wronged her without proper cause.
She looked around the building she was situated on and made her way to a corner that held her garden. Many rare flowers that she had created grew without a need of nourishment. So many blues, greens, reds, whites, and a mixture of the four were situated at the base of her mini waterfall. She lived here but no one knew her...she always kept to herself for the past 2 weeks. Something that was easy to achieve due to the fact that the top floor was only reserved for her and the bottom 3 for her fellow Brethren members. She is their most sought after assassin...but she only works in groups to help the others make a name for themselves as well. [How thoughtful. Maybe kindness will forever be my fatal flaw]. She thought bitterly. Her abilities were never studied so this gives her a great advantage over her fellow assassins and that, for some reason, didn’t sit well with her. As she made her way to the waterfall, she looked at the reflection of the crescent moon from the peaceful waters. It reminder her of him. She snorted. [He’s anything but peaceful...the wretched devil!]
This is the calm before the storm. For her and the elites received their assignment and will be sent off to aid the vampires. [The same kind that betrayed me. One of their own making!] And it just so happens that the one that she will be getting revenge on is the leader of the un-dead army. How fortunate! She looks away from the water and makes her way to the training area. Now would be a good time to make sure her skills are at their fullest. But her former species will be awe stricken by her unknown talents...one that she will be more than happy to demonstrate on them. But that will have to wait, for the mission comes first. [What a shame. Who knows how long I have to wait to exact my revenge]. She sighed.
She can only distract herself for so long. She doesn’t sleep...never needs it, never wants it. She busies herself with the expansion of her abilities. And that is exactly what she will do. She will meet her “husband” Sesshoumaru and give him a day he will never forget...after all, tomorrow is their anniversary.
Well! There is it! Tell me what you thought! Not to shabby for my first chapter huh? :)
