What to come

Kagome found a nice place to sit down, it was a clearing in the woods about a 5 min walk from camp, so she would be alone here, but in range if something bad happend. There was a fallen tree in the middle of the clearing, she hopped on it and just sat there looking up at the stars and the moon. It was almost full tonight Why did Sesshomaru look at her like that, did she say something that made him feel bad or something? He never really talks much, and when he is him and Inuyasha are going at it.

Then she heard something coming from the woods. She reached for her bow, but it was not there, she had forgotten it back at camp. How could she be so stupid, even if they had not seen a demon for weeks, that does not mean that there is not any more around here. Keeping her ears open, hoping to hear something again so she would know where what ever it was is coming from, she heard nothing, not even any owls or anything.

"Kagome?"

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK" yelled Kagome, she did not hear what ever it was walk up right behind her. She jumped and turn around so fast that it made her lose her balance, and she started to fall back. She closed her eyes fearing the pain that would come from hitting the ground, but it never came. She opened her eyes to see nothing but silver hair in her face. "Inuyasha?"

"No, I am not the half-breed, and if you where anyone else i would punish you for making the mistake. Now are you ok, you just started to fall, and i did not make to scare you. I was running in the woods when i got your scent. I wanted to make sure that everything was alright." he said lifting her up and standing her.

"Yes I am fine thanks to you. Why where you running in the woods, could you not sleep or something? Or did i wake up you when I left? I really tried not to wake anyone."

"No, you did not wake me, I was having a dream, and when i woke up, I had to run it out of me. Sometimes I have to do that. Why are you out here alone?"

"I was thinking, and being alone helps me do that. And plus I could not sleep and I did not want to wake anyone up, and out here I talk aloud and not do that."

"What are you thinking about? Is it your home? Do you miss your family?"

Why is he asking me this stuff like he cares about me. I mean, I care about him, but i have never once seen him care about anything other then his title and lands, or Rin. Could this some how have something to do with that look he gave me before? He is just acting out right odd. "No it was not of my home, and not my family, but I do miss them, a lot. But i made my choice to stay here and be with Inuyasha. I just could not be away from him, or any of the other for the matter. We all have been together for so long, and we are like a family now. Even you, your like my big brother now." When she said that last comment, she saw a little color drain from his face. Oh my god, did i just make him made, thinking of him as my brother, what did i just do? I have to explain. "I am sorry, i know that we are not family, I was just saying that it feels that way."

"Has Inuyasha talked to you about making you his mate?"

"Wha... um... " What the hell is he asking that for. "Yes we have talked about it, why do you ask something like that? Is it because I said your like family?"

"No, I asked because you do not have his mark on you, and I find that odd for someone like him to not do, so i was wondering if the half-breed did not have it in him, or if you did not want it. So i must ask, do you want to be his mate?"

"Well... I want to, but Inuyasha said that he wanted to wait until sometime had passed before he took me as his mate."

"That is very odd, if i were him i would have put my mark on you, and you mite have been carrying my pup by now. And i don't think he would do any less, unless there was something else that is keeping him from doing that."

Kikyo!!!! It had to be her. All that he is saying I have been thinking for the past month, but I have not seen her walking dead ass anywhere since the final battle. I don't hate her, but i wish he would just let her go and see that I am here and waiting for him. I would give up my soul to be his, but I have been thinking for the past month now that he cant give me all his love, because he still loves her.

"Sorry to say such things. But I just don't see why you are not his mate yet."

"We have our problems to work out. I don't know if you understand that." Why is he asking these questions. Does he know something that I don't? Maybe if i ask a few questions of my own. "Sesshomaru?"

"Yes?"

"Do you know if Kikyo is still walking this earth? I have not seen her since before the final battle. I was wondering if you saw her or know if she is still alive."

"I don't know. But i can find out if you want. Would you like that?"

Did he just offer to go out of his way to help me, this is really not the Sesshomaru i know. Maybe the final battle changed him, I know that it changed me. "I would like that very much. I need to know if she is or not. I would like to talk to her."

"Ok, then I will find this out for you, and if she is alive, I will have her come to you."

"Thank you very much Sesshomaru. Sorry for saying this, but you have been acting very odd to me. You have been asking questions about me, and just agreed to help me out. Why is that?"

"Don't think i will start acting like this all the time. This is a one time thing, it will not happen again. I am not doing this because you think of me as your friend, nor am i doing this because it will make you happy. I have my own reasons for doing this."

"Oh, ok. But thank you."

With that he got up and left, leaving her alone once more. She sat back down on the log and look back up at the moon and stars. Not only did she have that look to think about, but she now had this whole talk to think about. She thought to herself, that she was not going to get any sleep tonight, not at all.

As he walked back to camp, she could think of nothing but the way she smelled. It was going to be hard to control himself when she went into heat. If she smelt this good, he could not even think of what she would smell like when it come time. He stopped, and looked up at the moon and stars. Soon it would be a new moon. He must find Kikyo before then. He made up his mind that he will leave tomorrow morning after he got some rest. If he found that Kikyo was alive, he would bring her back to Kagome, no matter if she wanted to come or not.

The next morning Kagome awake to find that Sesshomaru had left. She really did not think nothing of it, he was starting to make her worry anyways, a few days away from him would do her good. When she was done packing up her and Inuyasha's bedrolls, she grabbed his hand and started to drag him to the clearing she had went to last night.

"Where are you taking me? We are about to head out soon and you want to go for a walk in the woods, what are you thinking?"

"Shut up would you, I want to talk to you for a little while, and I don't want anyone to hear what I want to ask you. Ok?"

"Sure why not, not like i have a choice or anything."

When they got to the clearing, they both sat down on the tree. For a few minutes she just sat there, not saying a word, not ever looking at him. Then she looked him right in his eyes. "Why don't you want me as your mate? Do you not love me? Am I not good enough for you?"

"Hey where are all these questions coming from. Kagome I do love you. I told you the last time, i want to spend some time with you before I take you as my mate. I don't want to make a mistake or anything"

"So your saying that you don't love me with all your heart. Do you still love Kikyo more then me!?!" she yelled at him with tear rolling down her face, unable to stop them, not wanting to hide them.

He could not even look at her anymore. "I do still love Kikyo, and I think i always will. I don't know if I love her more then you or not. All I do know is that I love you too."

"You cant truely love to people Inuyasha. You have give someone half your heart. I have given you all of mine. I want to be with you forever. But if you cant give me your heart too, then i cant just be some women on the side. I don't know if Kikyo is still around or not, but i know if you saw her, you would run to her side. You would care for her over me. Don't try and say you would not, because you have in the past." Not wanting to be around him anymore, she started to run back to camp, her eyes full with tears. She knew all the time that he love Kikyo over her, but she wanted to hope that someday it would change, but now she saw that it never will. That she will never have the love she has for him returned. She made it back to camp, only to trip over a rock in the ground, and go head first into Miroku, knocking him over with her.

"Are you alright Kagome?" asked Sango, but all she got back what sobbing.

"What happend out there? Did Inuyasha hurt you? Where is he i will make him wish he did not such thing?" asked Miroku

"He did not hurt me...... he only loves her.... he will never love me..." Kagome said while sobbing.
