A/N: "Teeth" is the best movie ever. And I can only watch it when my son is in school. teehee: Bobby's never seen it. I think he just gagged. haha. anyways, the first chapter was pretty much just to get things started; the actual story begins now. Maybe I'll change that first one to the prologue, and this'll be the actual chapter one. hmm... i think i'll do that.

One:
Kagome laughed a little at her husband, who whined a little, unconsciously. "You're being serious?" she asked him, her dark eyes bright at just the idea.
They were sitting together on their bed, on top of the silky, cream-colored sheets. Their bedroom was in the very back of the house; Inuyasha had built it for them himself, and he had built plenty of room for the pups. It was a big house, covering plenty of land, but he'd also had it in his head to build it up to two stories. Their bedroom was on the second floor, and it had a window that overlooked the thick woods behind the shrine. The decor in the room was fairly modern; against one wall was their bed, with a wooden, darkly stained nightstand on each side. Against another wall was a black recliner, a matching ottomon sitting in front of it. Between the recliner and the window was a tall, silver floorlamp. In the corner opposite the lamp was a big screen television set sitting atop a wooden stand.
Down the hall was Ari's room, and it was decked out in punk rock, pink and black furniture; her window overlooked the well house. She had movie and music posters up all over the walls: The Dark Knight, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, The Hills Have Eyes... the list went on and on.
On the first floor were Ashley, Rika, and Kaminari's rooms. Ashley's was cluttered; it was hard for even her to find the bed or the one chair that was in it. Everything - the bed, the chair, the desk, the floor - was covered with textbooks and notebooks and papers, all of them filled to the brim with writing and notes. The only thing that anyone could really tell about her bedroom was that the walls were sky blue.
Rika's room held only a minor pig-sty. She was always helping her grandmother and uncle with the shrine; she really only came back to her parents' place to eat and sleep. The full bed was against the window, and the sheets and comforter on it were gold and black. The walls of the small room were painted eggshell white, and it had black carpet.
Kaminari's bedroom was, by far, the cleanest and neatest; she spent the majority of her time these days in the feudal era, where she could really be herself with everyone. The only pieces of furniture in her bedroom was the bed, which had white sheets and a white comforter, a large, flat screen television set, an X-Box 360, and a guitar sitting on its stand in the corner; she really enjoyed video games and watching television. The room itself had seafoam green colored walls and white tile flooring; Kaminari was definitely not a fan of carpet.
Currently, none of these other bedrooms in the house were occupied. Ari was staying the night at her best friend Migoto's place. Rika was staying late next door to help Souta close up the shrine and the shop. Ashley was at a neurology seminar in the United States, and Kaminari was, of course, in the feudal era, probably goofing off with some of her feudal friends.
Inuyasha and Kagome were both very aware of how empty their home was at the moment; there were no loud televisions on, no loud, obnoxious arguing. The girls had long since grown past hair-pulling, which had been a real treat; Kaminari, though the strongest physically, was too much like her mother to fight any of them back, and she ended up getting the worst of it, the parents knew.
Inuyasha sighed as he leaned back, resting his head against the headboard. He'd cut his silver hair short a long time ago, when he started to realize that it got in his way more often than not. Kagome hadn't been too happy, but she couldn't complain after he donated it to that charity for the kids with cancer. Somewhere, some kid was wearing a silver wig made from his own hair; the thought was so strange to him that Inuyasha had to grin at it.
"Yes," he told his wife. "Kagome, you don't mind being here with all these women because, well, let's face it, you ARE one." She made a puzzled face at him. "I'm the only male here! The estrogen in this air is suffocating me!"
"You talk about my hormones like they're some deadly virus that's only airborne in our own home!" she hollered back, putting the point across that he had unknowingly raised his voice at her. He winced a little at her shrill yell, and his ears pressed against his head in embarrassment. He watched in silence as his wife took deep breaths to calm herself. "Look," she said, "Inuyasha. I know that you think the modern era has all these amazing tools, and that we can do anything here... but we can't."
He snorted, thinking about the strange cloaking spell Sesshomaru and Shippo had taught him when he moved to this era. "Tell me about it," he muttered, his tone coming off more miserable than he intended. He heard the sheets rustle a little, and he felt Kagome's head on his shoulder. Instinctually, he moved to wrap one arm around her shoulders. They had been very very close for half a century now, and he honestly couldn't remember how he'd lived any other way. His wife and his daughters were such a huge part of his life now that he really didn't know how it felt to be alone anymore.
He kissed the top of Kagome's head, meaning to be comforting. "Look, I didn't mean all those mean things that I said. You know, about your hormones?" He sighed, rolling his eyes at his awkwardness. "You know I love you, 'Gome." He knew she loved it when he used her pet name.
She turned her head and smiled at him, and Inuyasha's world lit up when he saw that familiar, bright smile. "I know you do, Yasha," she told him, returning his own pet name. "And, if you REALLY want to... we can try to have a boy."
"YES!"

Kaminari sighed rather loudly as she bounded upward, landing gracefully on the dirt floor of the dark well house behind the shrine. She shook the leaves from her hair a little roughly; it was autumn, and the trees in the feudal era were turning colors and fading into death. She took in a deep breath of the fresh, cold air through her nose, relishing the feel of it in her lungs.
She became alarmed, though, when she heard a noise behind her, inside the well; she spun quickly to counter the possible attack, but a smile broke out across her face when she realized that it was only Yume climbing up the wall of the well to reach her. She giggled as she leaned over the side of the well, staring him straight in his sparkling violet eyes. "What are you doing, Yume?"
He grinned insanely. "Watching you."
She made a face. "You perverted Peeping Tom!" she whispered sharply, grinning with him.
He laughed as quietly as he could manage, his eyes fixed on the well house door. "Actually, I just came for one more kiss."
Kaminari smiled ruefully and pecked him on the lips quickly. "There!" she murmured. "Now go!"
Still grinning, Yume let go of the side of the well, dropping back into the flash of purple light and disappearing back into the feudal era. Kaminari sighed as she shook her head and left the small well house.

Rika hummed a little as she wiped down the counter in the small, quaint gift shop adjacent to the shrine. She had already finished cleaning the shrine, and she had sent both her Grandmother Higurashi and her Uncle Sota to bed not too long before a familiar face showed up at the store's door. She grinned when she saw her cat-like boyfriend, Neko, standing there, grinning at her. His brown hair was wild; Rika could tell he had ridden his motorcycle to the shop. His green eyes glinted mischievously in the fluorescent light, and Rika just shook her head at him.
"No, no, Neko-chan," she told him quietly, wagging a finger at him playfully. Before she could blink, he was hugging her closely from behind, his sharp, button nose nuzzling her jawline delicately. She smiled and sighed, relaxing into his embrace. "This is the life," she murmured.
She could feel the rumbling chuckle in his chest against her back. "You said it," he replied, kissing her cheek.
All of a sudden, there was a knock at the front door of the shop. Neko and Rika both looked up, jumping a little, but they settled when Kaminari walked in slowly, her hands held up in defense. "Whoa, guys," she said. "It's only me."
Rika sighed in relief. "Where's Dad?" she asked.
Kaminari paused, and her puppy ears swiveled a little in the direction of the house. Then she nodded, and she scrunched her nose a little in a disgusted expression; Rika noticed that her ears were twitching slightly. Neko, also noticing this, listened himself; barely a minute passed before he was doubled over with laughter.
"What?" Rika practically yelled; she'd always hated not having the super-hearing thing that her father, her boyfriend, and two of her sisters had. She always missed out on some of the funnier inside jokes. "What's going on?"
Kaminari looked a little pale, like she was going to be sick. "They're... in THEIR room."
Rika made a face. "Ew."
"Yea."
