Chapter 2: Attitude
“Hello?”
“Hello? ... Can I speak to Miroku please?” asked Sango, twirling the phone cords around her finger.
“Who’s this?”
“It’s Sango... We met yesterday?”
There was a pause. “Oh!” He chuckled. “Hey, how are you?”
“I was just wondering if you would like to go out to lunch later today.” Sango tried to hold back her excitement.
“Sure, no problem. Where would you like to meet?”
“Hm ... Café Bistro? It’s just down the street from my campus. They serve the best desserts!”
“Alright, I’ll see you there. Is it alright if I bring a friend along?”
“It’s cool, I’ll see you there! Bye.” Sango hung up and jumped off her couch.
What to wear? What to wear?! She panicked as she threw open her closet door.
. .
Usually, it’s the girls that are fashionably late. But nope, not Sango. There she was... forty five minutes early, sitting in a little booth by the window checking her watch every two minutes. Man, was she hooked. Sango had just finished her fourth cup of coffee when she heard the door bell ring and Miroku walk in. She patted her hair and fixed her shirt before waving them over.
“Hey! Sorry, did you wait a long time?”
“Oh no, I just arrived!” cried Sango with a wave of her hand, “Who’s that friend of yours?”
“Inuyasha, Sango. Sango, Inuyasha.” Miroku introduced before taking a seat.
Sango instantly recognized him from the party. She waved and smiled warily.
Inuyasha casually nodded his head in her direction before taking a seat himself.
Miroku and Sango chatted happily while Inuyasha sat beside them drinking his coffee. Occasionally he’d answer a question when they would ask, but that was it.
“So how long have you been at this University?”
“This is my last year; I’m pretty excit-“ Sango stopped when she saw a raven haired girl pass by the window.
. .
Kagome looked up from her book when she heard a tap and a muffled, “Kagome!” beside her. She turned to see Sango waving at her excitedly. “Come in!” Kagome looked around Sango and at Miroku when she locked eyes with amber.
. .
Somehow... Someway, Miroku had convinced him to go with him to see the little girlfriend of his.
“Nono, she’s not my girlfriend.” He would say.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. Not yet.
“You won’t feel like a third wheel. Please.”
Miroku half dragged him to the café.
“Inuyasha, Sango. Sango, Inuyasha.”
Inuyasha caught Sango giving him a look, like she knew him. Do I know you? He thought back to the party yesterday. Everything was kind of foggy. Maybe he passed out. With a shrug, he brushed it off before sitting down.
Yakety yak yak... The two can go on forever. Inuyasha had dozed off a couple of times. Suddenly the chatter stopped. He opened his eyes and looked their direction. He saw a girl standing outside, looking at them through the window. He narrowed his eyes. It’s that bitch.
. .
Kagome looked at him cautiously; It’s the guy from yesterday. Catching the look he was giving her, she looked back at Sango. Kagome shook her head hesitantly. Sango’s eyebrows rose in question, she waved her hand at Kagome again.
Kagome sighed and shifted the books in her arms before heading towards the door.
. .
“Would you like a drink?” A blonde waitress asked as Kagome sat down.
“A mochachino please.”
“So where were you heading?” asked Sango as Kagome settled down beside her.
“I just got out of class and was heading to the library.” Kagome snuck a peek at Inuyasha when the waitress placed her drink on top of a napkin in front of her.
“What the hell are you staring at?”
“If you weren’t staring at me, how would you know I was staring at you?!” Kagome snapped back taking a sip of her mocha.
Miroku laughed, “Good one.”
Inuyasha growled at them. “I’m leaving.”
He stood up swiftly turned towards the door, waving back.
. .
Kagome looked at him as he stood. What did I do to you? All of a sudden there was a crash as the cup of mochachino spilled all over her. Sango gasped. Kagome bit her cheeks to hold in her scream as her hand began to turn red.
“My books!” Kagome’s eyes brimmed with tears as she looked back accusingly at Inuyasha.
Her eyes widened when she saw him waving her napkin in between his fingers mockingly before letting it float to the floor.
Waitresses and Sango all rushed to help clean up Kagome. Miroku watched the whole encounter with confusion. This wasn’t like Inuyasha.
“What the hell is wrong with your friend Miroku?!” Sango yelled at him angrily.
“I’m so sorry Kagome.” He apologized as he ran out the door to catch up with Inuyasha.
. .
Miroku caught up with him a few blocks down. He pulled at Inuyasha’s shoulders, forcing him to stop.
“Dude, what the fuck was that?!”
. .
God, what's wrong with Inuyasha? Seriously. Teheh
