"Oh my Kami! I can't believe I'm running late on my first day of work!" Kagome yelled to herself.
She had woken up at 6:30, when she was supposed to get to school for the forms and to set up her classroom at quarter to seven. The drive alone usually took twenty minutes. Once she realized her mistake the miko jumped out of bed and ran into her bathroom to quickly wash her hair. Sadly she did not have time for a shower. Thank the Kami's for deodorant and perfume, she thought as she was throwing on her black pants suit, and dark purple blouse. Kagome quickly brushed her hair and ran out the front door.
The miko usually wasn't one for braking any kind of law, but today she was late. Because of this she was going at least twenty over the speed limit the entire way there. She was lucky the cops weren't in that area yet. Luckily for her she made it to the school around seven. It was still fifteen minutes late, but that was better than twenty or more.
Kagome hurried out of her car and into the school. Now all she had to do was find the office. Surprisingly it wasn't right next to the front doors like any normal school. It didn't take her long to notice it was down the first hall on the right and she rushed in. Once inside Kagome came face to face with the secretary that she had spoken with on the phone the day before, and froze. She felt something she hadn't felt in five years and she wasn't sure if her senses were playing tricks on her.
"Miss Higurashi I presume," the beautiful woman behind the desk asked.
Kagome was so distracted by the feeling that it took her a few moments before she noticed the woman had addressed her.
"Uh.. yeah. Sorry. Yes I am Kagome Higurashi," Kagome smiled hesitantly at the woman.
"It's nice to meet you. We only have one more form for you. You see... we aren't just a normal school. Our students and most of the faculty are special. By your reaction I think you were able to sense something was off. Miss I know it is hard to believe but..."
"Youkai..." Kagome said interrupting the woman.
"How could you identify the energy as jaki? You aren't demon and there are no more miko to recognize the energy," the woman asked quickly.
"You're wrong," was all Kagome said.
"Excuse me?" the secretary grouched. She didn't have time to deal with this ningen. She just wanted to get the papers signed and get this woman out of her office.
"You are wrong," Kagome replied. "There are still miko. I happen to be one."
The woman behind the desk, which Kagome realized was a youkai, looked skeptically at the young teacher. There hadn't been any miko's since the great battle which forced youkai into hiding. Though that explained her reactions to the atmosphere. She shook the thoughts off.
"Anyway... youkai still roam this world, but now under disguise. This school is only for youkai, a kind of safe place to learn and be able to reveal who they truly are day to day. Because humans like yourself believe we are myths this school must protect that secret. So this form legally binds you to keep this secret. All ningen faculty must sign this form. If they do not then they are fired immediately and their memories of this place are removed. So, what will it be?" the woman asked irritably.
The secretary honestly believed no human should ever lay foot in this school. But she had no say in who was hired. Filthy ningens, she thought.
"Well if it's required in order to keep my job then I will sign the form," Kagome replied.
Inside she was drowning in a sea of emotions. Surprise, worry, anger, sadness, and hope; all of which were warring against one another inside the poor miko. Worry that her miko reki might hurt her students. Anger at the woman in front of her for her attitude. Sadness, that she would constantly be reminded of her past, and lastly hope. Hope, that mabye a few members of her second family were still alive. Kagome quickly signed the form and bid the secretary a good day, then went on her way. She had a classroom to prepare after all.

It took her a few minutes of wandering to be able to find her room. Kagome immediatly set out setting up her room and materials. In no time students started lining the hallways. The poor miko was drowning in jaki. It was hard for her to surpress her powers from lashing out at the students who hadn't even entered her room yet. Their energy was almost suffocating, and none of her students were in the classroom yet. Kagome began to doubt if agreeing to teach her was the best job for her. She could easily kill her students, or vice versa.
Well, I guess I'm going to have to start training again. She thought.
She was so preoccupied with her thoughts that she hadn't noticed her students starting to tricle into the room. Her thoughts were abrubtly interrupted by the bell, and she finally realized that twenty pairs of eyes were focused on her.
Damn, I was so distracted I didn't notice them come in. Well time to dive right in. The young teacher took in a big breath and then launched into her first lesson of the year.

Kagome learned after the first class that she needed to assert dominance over her students right off the bat or all Hell would break loose. Nobody wanted to listen to her talk about the early history of Japan. Soon she gave up and handed out worksheets to occupy their time. By the end of her first class she had handed out five after school detentions. Her next two classes went much smoother.
By lunch time she was worn out already. And she had two more classes to go after her lunch and prep hours.
Kagome had decided to forgo lunch in the teachers lounge today in order to get ready for her last two classes. Also, to get regain control of her reki. After three classes of jaki pushing against her, her purifying powers were ready to unleash havock on anyone near by. About halfway through her lunch and her mditation a few of the five boys from her first class walked in.
"Ms. Higurashi, may we speak with you?" the boy know as Kentaro asked nervously. All of the boys were feeling uneasy around her. There was something about their new teacher that set their instincts on high alert. They just didn't know what it was.
"Yes Kentaro, what can I help you boys with?" Kagome asked. Hoping they weren't going to weasle their way out of detention.
"Well, we're all on the Kendo team, and we have practice after school. Mr. Tashio gets really angry when anyone is late or doesn't show up. Sometimes he'll even kich people off the team." Kentaro said. "We're really sorry for disrupting class this morning."
"I am sorry boys, but I can't take back the detentions," Kagome replied. "They are today after school and if you don't show up you'll have earned two more on top of this one. You disobeyed me and these are the consequences." All the boys looked at the ground and their shoulders fell in defeat.
"But.. I will do this for you. I will go talk to this Mr. Tashio and explain the situation. And work with him on how you can make up the missed practice."
They all perked up at that. None believing their luck. "Though... if I do that I expect to not have anymore trouble from you. If I do I won't help you out again."
All of them shook their heads vigorously and bowed to their teacher, expressing their gratitude and that they would be good for the rest of the year. Once that was settled they quickly made their way out of the room and to their lunch.
Once they boys left Kagome went back to her mditation deciding to go meet with this "Mr. Tashio" once she was done and before she started her last preperations.

Kagome soon found herself wandering through the halls, trying to find the dojo. Unfortunatly for her the school was hudge and the boys hadn't told her where to find their instructor/teacher. After much thought she figured he would be in the schools dojo if he worked with the Kendo team. Therefore he might be a gym teacher of sorts. Maybe a martail arts teacher, if the school offered classes like that.
This is going to take up my entire prep hour. She sighed for the fifth time in two minutes. They could have at least told me where to find him. But, I guess I could also ask someone. Figures I'd have to deal with something like this on my first day. And where in the Kami's is the Dojo!? Kagome thought as she turned yet another corner.
Then she noticed she was standing right in front of the dojo's doors. Well that's finally convinent. I guess I'll finally get to meet one of my fellow educators. Hope we can work this out. She took in a big breath and then let it out as she slid the door open, and looked inside.
She looked rightr and then left, and found no one in the large space. Kagome stepped onto the tatami mat and huffed to herself as she did so. Figures he wouldn't even be here. Just as she was thinking of heading back to her classroom she noticed a door on the far wall opposite the door she had entered through. As she walked closer to it she heard a muffled voice beyond the sliding door. The closer she got to the door the more her mind screamed at her, alarm bells going off in the back of her head at the emence powere she felt on the other side. She raised her hand slowly, and then hesitantly rapt on the door twice.
"Mr. Tashio?"
The door flew open and a powerful figure stood infront of the miko.
As the door opened Kagome looked up into the face of the youkai standing directly infront of her. Her eyes immediatly widened.
"y y you..."
