Chapter 2
Itachi

He was in hell there was no doubt about it monsters surrounded him and he could not use his bloodline trait. He was shackled to a wall in a small cell, he had not eaten in what seemed like months. What he did not understand was that he was dead hunger should not bother him anymore, but it did. It would seem that though his body no longer needs food to survive it will still crave it. ‘maybe it is just another form of punishment? This is hell after all.’ he thought bitterly as he remembered what he done to earn him a place here.

He was a murderer, he killed his family all but 1 because his village leaders told him to. Even though he did it to save countable others because a war surely would have happened if his clan had been allowed to continue their scheming. He had just about resigned his fate to forever being here in this place when one of the ‘monsters’ opened his cell.


“The Prince Koenma wishes to speak with you.” the monster said its voice ruff and animalistic.


So shackled still but able to move Itachi was led out of his cell and out of hell. He knew this was important because he doubted many from hell had seen this place after being filed. So with a small amount of hope he walked into what looked like an interrogation room. He waited for what seemed like an hour though he did not mind much because their were sandwiches and water left on the table for him. Which he greedily devoured.


Foot steps could be heard walking down the hall and Itachi could not help but hold his breath. A prince of the afterlife was coming to speak with him and no amount of anxiety could quell his curiosity. Itachi watched as a man who looked to be a few years younger then him walked into the room. He had short brown hair and a binky hanging around his neck and a Jr. tattoo on his forehead.


“Itachi Uchiha, do you know why I have called you here?” Koenma asked knowing full well the boy had no clue.


Itachi straightened his back looking up to the prince emotionlessly “No I have no inclination as to your reasons.” his baritone voice replied evenly no tint of emotion in them what so ever.


“I have come to offer you a second chance.” Koenma stated in his all mighty tone that he uses when he wants to appear all powerful.


“I’m listening” Itachi replied his interest coloring his tone as his eyes began to shine with the idea of getting out of hell.


“What I offer you is a chance to get out of hell and never return. Of course this must be earned. You will work for the Reikai spending the duration of your new life being a spirit detective. All previous attachments must be abandoned and you must remain dead to all those that knew you or of you.” Koenma explained taking a seat on the other side of the table crossing his legs as he does so.


“So you will bring me back from the dead, but I can not let anyone know I am back? Is there anything else? What does being a Spirit detective entail exactly?” Itachi asked bringing his hands atop the table then clasping his hands.


“That is correct. As far as everyone will know you are dead and it is best that they believe so. A Spirit world detective is a person who protects a realm from youkai that has escaped from their realm. I am aware you are not familiar with youkai and your partner will be so you will learn all you need from her. You in turn will tell her all she needs to know of your realm. Do you except the terms stated?” Koenma asked folding his hands over his knees knowing full well the man will take the generous offer.

“If this will get me out of hell with a promise to never return there then I will do so gladly. What happens from here? When am I to meet my partner” Itachi asked his voice emotionless, but his eyes held a grateful gleam.


“Yes well there are things that need to be done first. We need to retrieve your body and your partner will be away doing this. We have kept track of where your body is being held but we will need info on your old allies. She must be prepared to fight them should they prove a problem when getting your body back to the spirit world.” Koenma said motioning to George to start recording the information needed to complete the task without much trouble.


“I use to work with an organization called the Akatsuki. They are a group of S ranked criminals. Many of them have been killed but the strongest of them are still alive. My old partner is called Kisame Hoshigaki. He is a missing-nin from Kirigakure. Kisame has a distinctive shark-like appearance, complete with pale blue skin, small white eyes, gill-like facial structures, and sharp triangular teeth. Kisame is rather battle-loving, enjoying having to fight others, he also enjoys mutilating his opponents. Kisame's weapon is called Samehada (Literally meaning "shark skin"), a sentient, scale-covered sword that shaves off skin instead of cutting. Samehada is also capable of absorbing chakra, but requires Kisame's chakra to do it. Only Kisame is allowed to wield Samehada; if anyone besides him tries to pick it up, spikes protrude from its handle and it returns to Kisame's side.

Kisame has also been known to display astonishing speed and incredible physical strength. He uses water-based jutsu in combination with his powerful physical attacks. His shark-like qualities carry over to the type of techniques he uses in battle, as he often shapes bodies of water into the forms of sharks that proceed to attack opponents. If there is no water source where he happens to be fighting, Kisame can use Water Release: Exploding Water Shockwave to create a lake's worth of water to be used for attacks” Itachi pauses for a moment waiting for the ok to continue with his explanations.


Once he received a nod to continue he listed another member of Akatsuki. “Next is the leader Madara Uchiha also known as Tobi. He can use the Mangekyo Sharingan. Madara sometimes exhibits a very calm and serious personality and at other times he exhibits a playful disposition, especially when in the guise of Tobi. He speaks with less formal diction, such as not using honorifics, and shows typically "villainous" arrogance. Most of Madara's abilities are still unknown. He is known to have an advanced Mangekyo Sharingan, and to make use of space-time ninjutsu. I believe he is immortal because his age should have him dead long ago. He maybe one of the few that are near my body now.” Itachi paused again for the same reason he paused the first time.


At the nod he continued in his list. “Next would be Pein, while Madara is the true leader Pein is the one others believe to be leader. He is also a missing-nin from Amegakure, not much is known of him. He can also perform a Shape shifting Technique, which allows him to clone Akatsuki members using human sacrifices that they control and can use to engage enemies in place of themselves. His most important technique in regards to Akatsuki operations is the Illusionary Dragon Nine Consuming Seals. With the other members of Akatsuki, this technique begins a three day trial to forcibly extract the Tailed Beast from its host and forces it into a statue. There seems to be a order on which Tailed Beast they can seal at once as they are unable to seal the demon fox without sealing the other beasts as it would destroy the statue, possibly freeing all the captured beasts. Pein possesses the Kekkei Genkai, Rinnegan. This was possessed by the Sage of the Six Paths, the world's first ninja and the founder of the Ninja World. The Rinnegan allows the user to use six types of elemental chakra, an ability no ninja without it can possess. The most prominent thing about Pein is that he is not a single entity, but six individual bodies all acting together with one mind and will. He calls this the Six Paths of Pain.” He pauses once again watching as George records his details in files.


Once again receiving the sign to continue “Next would be Pein’s partner and only female in Akatsuki. Her name is Konan. Mostly, she is stoic, calm, and level-headed (much like Pein. She does seem to be more empathic than other Akatsuki members, as she appears sad whenever she has been reminded of her past. She also expresses a great deal of loyalty and courtesy to Pein (which he always returns), doing his bidding without question and looking out for his well-being. Her entire body can transform into thousands of sheets of paper, which she can control at will and form into any shape (Her clothes transform too, thus suggesting a unique style of transformation jutsu is used). To travel long distances, she can mold them into butterflies or planes for powered flight, and to attack, the sheets can form arrows, shuriken, or kunai. She can also restrain opponents by blanketing them in sheets restricting their movement. Befitting (and likely inspiring) her title as 'God's Angel', the papers can also form large wings for flight or further weaponry. As a whole, she is probably quite difficult to harm since most physical attacks would go straight through her, but this has yet to be confirmed. She appears vulnerable to Fire Release techniques.” He pauses once again his eyes watching the ogre while wondering what it would be like to work for a place such as this.


At the nod from George she continues “The last is Zetsu, he is easily distinguished by two large venus fly trap-like extensions enveloping his head. These extensions can envelope the rest of his body as well, giving him a plant-like appearance. When his extensions are open and his head is visible, it is revealed Zetsu has two different colored halves of his body, the left side completely white and the right side black. He is also known for his split personalities. He is also a cannibal. Zetsu's main role within the Akatsuki is to function as a spy, often acting as a hunter-nin for Akatsuki. He has been shown able to move his body and take part in the tailed beasts sealing ritual simultaneously which, in addition to being unique to him, allows him to act as a lookout while the sealing takes place. When an agent to Akatsuki, or possibly even a member, dies, Zetsu is sent to devour said bodies as to not have their secrets revealed. Due to the role he plays, Zetsu is the only member of Akatsuki to act without a partner on a regular basis. Despite this, Zetsu serves as a sort of superior to other members, as they often report directly to him instead of the actual leader, Pein. Zetsu is also the one sent to retrieve the rings of dead Akatsuki members. So he would be there to devour my body. Are you sure that my body has not been devoured already? I mean I have been here months and he would have completed the task no later then a week after my death?” Itachi asked looking to Koenma with his question.


“That has been taken care of. Your partner is an experienced time walker, we will send her back the day you were killed and only 3 hours after to retrieve your body. Is there anything else that would be helpful in getting your body back to Spirit World?” Koenma asked one more time.


“Zetsu will be there probably getting ready to devour my body. The others would be gone, none are willing to watch as he eats the bodies. The best thing to do is get in and out he can be a very dangerous opponent to someone who is not use to our world as you had said my partner was.” Itachi explained wanting his body as soon as possible before that vermin could eat him.


“He will not be a problem no will any of the others. You said they were all criminals correct? They would be tainted by murder, hate, and rage her powers are designed to fight off tainted souls. She just needs to learn to make a portal, which I have someone teaching her now. Your body will be back before you know it.” Koenma said confidently he knew she could handle it. She was already familiar with summoning her powers and the boost they gave her will make it easy for her to call them without a weapon should the need arise.
