Chapter 2- Strange feeling and resolutions.

Noon. Is the time when the sun is approximately half way between sunrise and sunset? It is warm, tranquil, and serine. Most stop to rest and relax before they are sent to work once again. Most take this time to eat. They take what they need and rejuvenate their bodies. Some choose to sit and talk to close friend or relatives. And others watch the children play as it fills their hearts with joy. All wait though. They wait for the sun to pass a little further so it is not beating down upon their backs as they work the rest of the day till evening.

Anubis sat underneath an Olive tree as he watched the city life from afar. Children where playing in the streets, their parents a respectable distance away keeping on eye on them. No one noticed the god as he sat under the tree for its protection. It gave shade to the weary traveler. He smiled at the thought of children. He wondered if one day he would be able to enjoy the life of parenthood. Even though it was most unlikely, since he was a god who ruled the dead, he still wondered and hoped. He took this time to rest before once again leaving for a foreign land. Anubis had been traveling for only three days. The first was within his homeland. He loved where he lived but he wished to see more. There was something that was pulling for him to leave. He had no clue what but he decided to leave if only to travel and see more then just the place he called home. He was currently staring off into the distance as he watch the people come and go. He could see all the advancement and progress the people were making. He was silently impressed as he watched them go back to their rigorous routines. He looked up into the tree branches observing the sun light penetrating through the branches that spread out parallel to the ground. The rays shone through the leaves illuminating them with a godly glow. The green was much more prominent then what he would have thought possible. Something about it fascinated him. You could never find this in the realm of the dead. It made him feel grateful and willing to appreciate it. He sighed in contempt as he smiled upon the tree. The branches swayed as a small force pushed them to the side.

He stood from his spot under the tree. No one knew that he was there. He was hiding himself from the masses of people. It just wouldn’t do to have his followers follow him. He shook his head at the thought. His followers, a though loyal, where annoying. How they became this way puzzled him. They used to be so much more relaxed in his presence, but now, they are fearful. They grovel and beg. This perturbed him the most. Never had he treated them poorly or tried to make them fearful of him. He protected them, nurtured them, and taught them the way of the ancients. Yes, he was not one to be trifled with, but he was never to be feared. ‘If I could find someone who wasn’t afraid off me,’ he thought, ‘I would be eternally grateful to them. To be feared is to live a lonely existence. Never to know compassion or love, for there is no one who would wish to love you.’ He stopped his train of though. Love. What was love? He didn’t know what it truly was but yet he was using the word. Why had he left the Underworld? Was a break from his duties really the reason? Could it be that he wished to find someone to Love? And to find someone who would love and care for him in return? He sighed, ‘Why am I thinking of these things. I am here for a break, nothing more.’ It was once again time for him to take leave. He took a step out from the protection the tree offered. The surrounding area was smoldering. The heat from the sand and the heat from the sun making the area feel as if you where in an oven. Anubis paid no attention to the temperature. Unlike humans, his body was able to regulate the temperature with ease, even though once in a while it was nice to sit under a tree for the cool shade.

The wind blew his hair away from his face. It wasn’t a strong wind but enough to provide relief. He closed his eyes and breathed in the scent that the wind brought to him. It was the smell of burning fire wood, rice, and olives. It was an odd combination but it was unique to the area he was in. The second day of his trip he had entered into Israel. It was strange but there was a tug on his heart. It told him to go faster, to get to a place. How odd it was for him. He didn’t understand. He frowned at the feeling. Something wanted him and it was pulling for him to come to it. What it was he didn’t know, but it was pulling him to the Far East. He followed the pull with determination. He didn’t know where to find it but he would know when the time came.

There was no rush. He was not about to ruin the scenery of mother earth for a pull on his heart that might not mean anything. ‘More than any thing,’ he though, ‘I’m just anxious to see the living and what the shifting sands of time have provided me.’ He smiled at the thought. His country was growing and becoming considerably more powerful. His people would soon know what godly truly meant. There again was a pull on his heart. It was become stronger with every step he took. The strange thing was though, that the pull was more of a caress, like something was calling out to his soul, telling it where it was. It wasn’t malicious but pure. It, was calling to him.

His pace was ever the same as he traveled down a beaten path. The road was large, big enough to hold two carriages at once. He was traveling down the right side, heading north east. His pace was quick, one no human could keep up with, but slow for a god of his stature. His heart was pounding in excitement with every step he took. What ever was calling to him; his beast knew and was more then willing to except it as its own.

Like demons, Gods such as Anubis, held a beast side to them. Though they were almost the same there were considerable differences between the two. Demons, even though strong, could not control there beast sides if something where to cause them to become angered or distressed. Gods though, could hold their beasts. Their beast side was much stronger then those of demon stature, but ran in a similar way. They choose what they wanted and had a mind of their own. But unlike demons their beast side was never to be looked upon by mortals. They were specifically meant to do battle with other gods. The god’s rational sides also had to call upon them. They were never usually released, only if the god was in desperation. These sides were feral. Nothing could stop them from killing once they were released. Except those the beast called their mate. Only then would the rational side be able to retake over its feral counterpart. Most were never released though, for the gods never usually battled one another. It would be a fatal mistake. Besides that most gods did not have mates. They would never be able to call there beast side back if something were to happen. The God would forever be trapped within its feral side and would descend upon the mortal realm. If the god was to ever us its beast side while they were among mortals, it could cause devastation. If one did not run scream from the sight, you could become petrified, never to walk the earth again. A terrible fate for a mortal soul. Or the feral side of the God would go on a rampage killing all within its path. Either way the out come would hold terrible consequences.

Our God’s mind wondered. His thoughts were elsewhere while he thought about everything but nothing of importance. ‘Mate. What a wonderful word. What would I want in a mate? I know that I would want her to be strong as well as beautiful. But beauty is something that can not be held only on the outside but also on the in. She would have to be kind and knowledgeable. To be stupid is to be ignorant and I wish not to have an ignorant mate. She would have to hold a title. If I were to choose her I would have to know she was safe, either it be in her home or in another’s. No that would not do, it would have to be her home, no other could have what would be mine.’ The thought brought a smirk to his face. She would be all his and no one else’s. He would most definitely have to look into finding a mate.

His steps quickened. He finally knew why he wanted to take a break. His time in the mortal realm would be spent finding a mate. Not just any though, one that his beast agreed on as well as his soul confirmed. He was now after something, he was now after his soulmate.

“1 step, 2 steps, 3 steps, 4,” said a motherly voice as a child echoed from behind. “5 steps, 6 steps, 7 steps, 8, and who, is it, we appreciate.” The voice grew with enthusiasm. While a child laughed hysterically and pointed at an annoyed half demon.

Inuyasha rolled his eyes at the two while they taunted him. For an hour they had been doing that, periodically being followed up by the monk or demon slayer. It was absolutely embarrassing. More then once did it draw the attention of a traveler that was heading down the same road as them. He scoffed at them for their silliness.

“Who do we appreciate Shippo?” the women questioned to the kit standing on her shoulder.

The child giggled while pointing and chanting, “Inuyasha, Inuyasha, Inuyasha!!!” The monk snickered and the demon slayer laughed fully. They would never tire of this game, especially if it involved Inuyasha and/or a child. They would keep this game with them. One day they hopped to have their very own son or daughter. They would teach them this game and many more. Sango was walking closely to Miroku, the lecherous monk, who seemed to have his hands in check that day. She was looking at him and smiling. Some day they would become parents. When everything was over they would start their life together. Now though, was not the time? Naraku was even more powerful then before. With half the jewel shards in his grasps, he was a formidable foe.

The monk could see that his intended was looking at him, form the corner of his eye. She was a beautiful creature. With long shapely legs that went up to a nice, round, tight, and firm butt. He shuddered at the thought. Yes, she had a very nice butt. How he loved to caress the mound of flesh that bounced happily as they walked. His hand reached out to touch what it found so desirable at the moment. It made contact with one cheek as he groped it. He smiled openly, his goofy grin showing his contempt. Inuyasha smirked at the monk knowing all to well what it would amount to. Kagome scoffed at him before looking over to her sister who seemed to be fuming and reaching for her boomerang. Sango grabbed the hilt of her weapon that rested against her back. She hated when he did this. Sango had a firm grip on her boomerang and was positioned and ready. He would never know what hit him. Shippo shook his head, before saying, “Idiot.”

Two young women walked by as they observed the group that was standing in the middle of the road. They cringed as a woman brought down a large boomerang right on top of a poor monks head. They gasped as the man fell to the ground, apparently unconscious. They steered clear of them, shacking their heads at the other group’s antics.

Sango smirked at the monk as she leaned over his limp body, “Miroku, I hope you learned your lesson.” She said, full of sarcasm. “It would be a shame if you suddenly contracted brain damage.”

Miroku’s mind was swimming as he saw stars. He couldn’t hear what his lovely Sango said as his ears popped and filled with fluid. His eyes watered and blurred his vision before once again seeing darkness. The group sighed loudly; this meant they would have to spend the night at the side of the road.

Inuyasha frowned at the monk, “If only stupid would learn when to keep his hands to himself. Then maybe we could get farther then just a mile.”

“Inuyasha, be nice. I mean seriously.” Kagome said angrily, “It’s not his fault if he’s got a mental disability.” Everyone smiled at their friend. She was right. It wasn’t their fault he was already stupid.

Inuyasha grabbed the unsuspecting monk by the scruff. He dragged him to the side of the road before dumping him off beside a tree. The others followed behind there leader. Once they knew where they would be at for the night they all separated heading their own way to get what they needed for their camp. Sango went to get water with the water bottles that Kagome brought from her time. They were convenient little things and were quite fascinating. How they were made was a wonder to her. Besides being efficient they were pretty. She had never seen anything like it before. They were like there but yet they weren’t. They were hard but yet soft. It puzzled her and the only thing she could think of was magic. She smiled as she entered the clearing to get water. What she saw astounded her. It was absolutely gorgeous. She would have to tell Kagome so they could come and bath there before they went to bed.

Kagome was still at the side of the road. She watched over the monk while everyone else left. She unpacked her book bag readying for when the rest came back. She watched the monk carefully. Sango had hit him pretty hard and she wondered if he was alright. She removed the ramen from her back pack and smiled. ‘Inuyasha is really going to want this.’ She put the stuff to the side and removed her blankets. Her sleeping bag sat on the bottom of her big yellow bag. Shippo would sleep with her in it. She loved her son dearly. She was young, considering she was already being called mother. ‘Fifteen and I already have a son.’ She laughed openly at the thought. She had adapted to being a mother well. She would do anything to see Shippo happy and safe, even give her life if she had to.

Shippo was off getting firewood. He scurried underneath the underbrush finding the dry, dead branches that trees had lost to the ground below. They were great for burning. They stayed lit longer as well as held the heat better then if you took a branch from the tree itself. He grabbed as many as his little arms could carry before heading back to the camp.

Inuyasha breathed heavily as his heart rate increased rapidly. He was after a small doe that would provide food for his whole group. She was a perfect specimen. His demon side growled as he made his way toward the unsuspecting prey. His claws flexed as he drew closer. She was his.

Kagome heard a screech come from the forest. She turned her head in the direction in question. She wondered what the sound was, but then again maybe she didn’t want to know.

Shippo came stumbling into the clearing. His body was leaning back from all the wood he carried. He rushed over to his mother’s side dropping the wood in front of her. His chest heaved as he took in the much needed air.

Kagome smiled at Shippo. He was such a big help. She watched as her kit climbed into her lap before settling himself down. He looked exhausted and more then ready for a nap. Once he was settled she worked on the wood that was lying in front of her, careful not to wake Shippo. When she was finished she waited for her friends to return. She played with her kits hair, twirling it around her fingers as the auburn locks curled after the treatment. She grinned, content for the moment as she waited.

Inuyasha was running through the forest on his way back to his camp. The deer was lying on his back comfortably. It’s dead, lifeless eyes reflecting the forested behind it. He passed Sango who was also making her way back. He grinned before putting on an extra burst of speed. He made it to the clearing with ease. He ran to where Kagome was sitting quietly, staring off into the distance. She looked so surreal and beautiful, her olive skin glowing. She looked to be in a daze completely ignorant of the half demon that was standing behind her. He tip toed over to her. A large, sadistic grin plastered on his face. He was going to scare her; she deserved it after taunting him for an hour.

Kagome was aware of Inuyasha, she just choose not to acknowledge his presence. She was currently preoccupied with a feeling, which felt like a soft caress, against her heart. She frowned at the feeling. She wondered what it was. It almost felt like a calling. Was something calling to her? She halted her think to turn on Inuyasha. She could tell that he was going to try and scare her, she wasn’t that stupid. She glared hard at him as he tried to right himself.

Inuyasha had been leaning down his hot breath combing the back of her neck. She was still focused on something else. He grinned at the thought that he would finally be able to get her back. Reaching out to her, his claws extended and his fangs bared he readied himself to pounce. She turned on him before he could do anything. He quickly sat up and tried to find the balance he had lost.

Kagome saw him falter. Her eyes glittered with malicious intent as she called out his name.

Once he was righted he turned to her, a hard glare set upon his gruff features. He eyed her. When she spoke it was a soft, calm tone. He wondered what she was going to do as he barked out, “What wench?”

Kagome grinned. He had know idea what she was going to do to him. Calmly but with a harsh undertone she said, “Sit Boy!”

Sango made it into the clearing giggling. She could hear everything that went on. She wasn’t that far away so it was quite easy to pick up on things. She smiled as she looked upon the half demon. His face was dug deep into the earth. His body was tense and his ears were twitching from the pain. She walked over to Kagome who was looking down upon the half demon in question. She raised an eyebrow at the girl who sighed in response. “I’ll tell you later. How’s that sound?” she questioned before heading over to the doe Inuyasha had brought back for their group. She frowned at it and looked back to Sango for help. She hated gutting animals, it was absolutely grotesque.

Shippo who had been set down, stumbled over to Kagome as he rubbed his eyes and yawned. He looked up at her and reached his arms out for her to pick him up. She smiled at him before picking him up into her arms. He rested his head on her shoulder while he snuggled into her warmth. He stayed awake long enough to ask, “What are you doing? Why did Inuyasha bring the doe?”

Kagome smiled at him before heading over to some laid out blankets. He had already fallen asleep before she could answer his questions. She didn’t want to wake him while she worked so she put him down to bed. He would sleep until she woke him up to eat. After placing a kiss on the crown of his forehead she headed back to the carcass. Sango was sitting beside it with a knife in her hands. She smiled up at her companion and pointed to a spot on the stomach. Kagome would have to learn how to gut an animal it she wished to survive in the feudal era. She was more then willing to teach her friend if she wished it.

Kagome sat beside her friend and sister. She looked at her with horrified eyes. “Do I have to?” she asked. Sango shook her head in an agreeing manor. “You’re going to have to learn how to do it Kagome. One day, if you were ever to be separated from us, you would have to hunt, kill, and gut your own food.”

Kagome frowned at her. She hated doing this more then anything. Sango kept trying to teach her but each time she would run into the bush and become ill. She could already feel her gag reflex as Sango made the first incision.

Sango handed Kagome the knife before going any further. She smiled at her friend who was turning green. She wrapped her hand around hers as she helped.

Kagome could hear and feel as the knife ripped, sliced, and tore at the flesh. Blood was running down the blade and onto her fingers. It was disgusting and the lick, warm blood felt sticky. Once they had open up the belly of the animal. Sango took the knife from her friend. She smiled before reaching her hands into the warm body. Kagome lost it as she ran from the clearing. She emptied her stomach before returning.

Sango shook her head as she finish up the rest of what needed to be done. Kagome made a little more progress but not much. It would take time. You could not gut an animal over night. When all the insides of the deer had been separated she went over to the fire. She had saved the heart and liver. They were a great source of protein as well as fiber. They would give many vitamins to the group and make them stronger. Slicing up the rest of the carcass she moved what she could to the fire before leaving the rest out to dry. Before night came they would have to find another spot to camp at. The blood would most definitely attract wolves, bears, and demons.

Kagome was sitting next to the fire. Her hands where coated in blood. Her eyes were wide in realization. Sango moved to her friend’s side and sat beside her. She rubbed up and down her back trying to bring some comfort. It seemed to help tremendously.

Inuyasha had arisen from his spot steaming mad. ‘How could she?’ he thought, ‘I didn’t even do anything to her.’ He was sitting in a tree watching from afar as the girls tried to gut the animal he had brought them. He would have done it for them if Kagome wouldn’t have been such a bitch. His eyes focused on the moon which was almost full. Soon it would be the night of the new moon, the night when he would become weak and defenseless. His life would be in his companion’s hands. He just hoped that he would live to see another day.

The girls where almost done with supper. Soon they would be eating handsomely. All thanks to Inuyasha. Kagome had a cup of jasmine tea. Her stomach was still upset from earlier and the smell of roasting meat wasn’t helping to settle it either. Sango had told her about the river that wasn’t to far away and she was more then willing to take up her offer. She drank her tea as she watch the flames flicker. Her mind kept wondering. For three days, Kagome had been feeling a pull on her heart. And with every passing hour it became stronger. What ever it was it was coming closer. She wondered what it could be and she hoped it wasn’t malicious. They already had to deal with a psychotic half demon named Naraku, let alone have to have a new presence join in on the little masquerade.

Tonight would be mostly one of thought for her. She would have to figure out what was coming before she told Inuyasha. She would have to know before she made assumptions. It would be a long night that she hoped would end soon.

Rin was sitting atop Ah-Uh. The dragon was swaying as its massive body moved through the forest. Her elbows rest against the dragons back as she watched the first stars appear in the night sky. It wasn’t to dark, but the sun was already setting. She was thinking about everything and anything. Her lord had been acting strange. Something was coming and she didn’t know what. It was powerful she could tell. The way her lord tensed when he heard a sound could signal that peace of information. She wondered what was going to happen. Did here lord expect to go into battle sometime soon? She was only seven and she hoped she wouldn’t have to see her father figure get hurt. She hated when he went out to battle. He either came back hurt, victorious, or just plan miffed off. She wondered if Inuyasha was in the area. If that was the case then there was nothing to worry about. She sort of hopped it was that. She wanted to see Kagome again. She loved her so much. In her eyes she was like a mother, even though she would never say that. Sesshoumaru would never approve.

Jaken was pulling his masters pet through the forest. Rin, like always was atop the massive beast, as they trudged on. It was getting late and he would have to find a place for Rin to rest soon. If he didn’t it would be his head. He never understood why his lord took the girl in. She was different from most, he could tell that, but he thought his master hated humans. Personally he liked Rin. She was rambunctious, but respectful and smart. He sometimes wondered what she would look like if she truly was a demon and his lord’s daughter. What a great thing that would be, even though he would never dare voice that to his lord he still wondered.

He could tell that his master was acting strange. Something had caught his senses and making him tense. Jaken knew Rin noticed it and later he would voice his opinions to her. It was strange but he thought he could feel something coming as well. It was like a prickle on the back of his neck. It was definitely strong. He would never dare challenge it. But something about it made him curious. What could it be?

Okay that is it for now. Um from now on i will be putting questions at the bottom of each chapter. you may choose to answer it or not. I will also be putting some other interesting things. so here we go-

? for you.

-If i where to have a love triangle who would you want it to be with? (Has to have kagome and anubis. Pick a third. Anybody you want)

Interesting facts. In the next chapter there will be a fight. I don't know with who yet but im working on it. Also Kagome can feel Anubis. Her miko powers are strong and there is another reason all together. I'll tell you that later. Inuyasha and company are no where near Sesshoumaru. So what the toad is feeling is or God. He is powerful. I want everyone to know that.

Um that is all i will give you right know. If you have question feel free to drop a review. Chow.

Disclaimer I do not own Inuyasha or company.
