Unexpected Acceptance

Chapter Two: Awakening

Kagome opened her eyes at the sound of her name. Sitting up she thought ‘Is somebody here? Who called me? I could have sworn I heard my name…’ She blinked the sleep out of her eyes, and noticed a certain member of the tachi was missing. ‘That’s weird, where’s InuYasha?’

At the thought of him, her mind drifted back to her dream. She realized the familiar wetness between her legs. ‘I can’t believe I had another one of *those* dreams…I need to go clean up.’ She made sure the kitsune was in a deep sleep. Crawling out of her sleeping bad, she placed the baby fox down, and covered him up. She grabbed her yellow book bag, and went toward the springs.

When she turned, she noticed the missing hanyou walking toward her. His silver hair shined in the moonlight. She noticed his normal reddish aura had a strange, almost peaceful glow about it. ‘Baka probably went to Kikyou…’ she fumed, her jealousy starting to rise.

“Why are you awake, Kagome?” The hanyou asked, taking note of the lingering smell that masked her normal scent of cherry blossoms and vanilla. ‘Kami, if she doesn’t do something about that, I’ll have a problem again!’ Sometimes he hated his heightened youkai senses.

“I...uh…needed a drink of water. Had a bad dream...” she lied. ‘I can’t tell him what I was *really* dreaming about! What would he think of me? This is too embarrassing.’ She thanked the gods it was night, and that InuYasha couldn’t see the blush spreading across her cheeks.

The hanyou smirked knowing the truth. “Keh, hurry it up, baka. Don’t need anything happening to you…we have jewel shards to search for tomorrow.”

Kagome nodded. She headed toward the direction of the springs. She remembered what had initially woke her. Turning around, she cocked her head and asked “Mou…did you call me a couple of minutes ago?”

‘How did she hear me? Oh my Kami…what else did she hear?’ InuYasha’s arrogance started to melt away. He stood in front of her, mouth agape. Recomposing himself “Keh, must have been in your dream. You did say you had a nightmare, ne, Kagome?” ‘So that’s why she woke up. Damnit…I need to leave when I do *that*…’

Sighing, she said “I guess you’re right. Maybe Shippou was talking in his sleep or something. Mou, I’ll be back. I want to take a bath. ‘I’m all sweaty’ …” she blushed again, remembering her “bad” dream. ‘Oh, how I wish he would touch me like that for real. But, that will never happen…he’s too hung up on Kikyou.’ She felt her body react to her thoughts as tiny goose bumps prickled her skin. Turning to walk away from him, she was stopped when a flash of red landed in front of her.

InuYasha knew that not allowing her to clean up was driving him insane. ‘I don’t care how she will react, I just need to try. This may be my only chance…’ “Kagome, if your dream really was that ‘bad’ that you need to bathe, tell me about it.” He pulled the young girl into his arms. He inhaled her scent of arousal, which cause his to arise. This was exactly what he wanted. He wanted her to know what effect she was having on him. He was unsure if she would be accepting of his advances, but he at least needed to attempt to show her what he was feeling. ‘I have waited too long for this, I want you Kagome…I need to have you!’

“Uh…InuYasha? It was just a dream. Really, I’ll be all right. I just need to relax…” ‘This is weird,’ she thought. ‘Whatever. I’m just happy to be in his arms…’

Kagome held onto the hanyou’s haori. Slowly she rubbed her palms across his chest, feeling the definition of his muscles. She felt his pulse quicken as her fingertips brushed his abs. She moved to wrap her arms around his defined torso. ‘No wonder he’s so strong. All these muscles… but why is his breathing heavier? This isn’t the first time we’ve hugged, for Kami’s sake!’

“Ne, InuYasha? Why are you breathing like that? It’s like you’re scared or something. Are there any youkai around?” She strained her neck to look. “I’m not picking up any strange aura…”

InuYasha mused at the innocence that plagued his young miko’s question. ‘She has no clue what she’s doing to me.’

“Uh, Kagome…I just worry.” He pulled her in closer to himself. He felt her nipples harden under the thin fabric of her nightshirt. Gently running his claws through her raven locks, he reveled in the feel of her chest pressed against his.

‘InuYasha? What’s going on with him? I should go…before I do something I’ll regret. Something he’ll hate me for. Onegai, just a second longer…’ Kagome thought to herself as she inhaled his earthy scent. Grabbing a hold of the hanyou’s muscular arms, she reluctantly pushed herself out of his embrace. Staring into his beautiful amber eyes, a near whisper “Inu…Yasha…?” barely escaped her lips.

‘This is it’ InuYasha thought. ‘If I don’t take my chance now, I never will’.
