Chapter 2

Making a date

They sat in the auditorium side by side as the speakers went on about the expectations of the school all the while sending secret glances at each other when the other was not looking. Though Kagome had seen males better looking then Yuki he was charming with made him all the more handsome in her eyes. But there was something strange about him. Something different and Kagome could not quite put her finger on it. She did find it strange how even while sitting down as he was he was antsy always moving out of the way allowing no girls to touch him. Which she found strange because he had no problem allowing her to touch him.

Yuki could not help himself; he had never felt this way about a girl before. He never looked to Tohru as a girl, but as a mother figure or a friend. But as he snuck glances at Kagome he could not stop himself from wondering what it would be like to be with her as a man would a woman. He could touch her without transforming usually those of the Zodiac was alone, because they could not have that intimate relationship with another of the opposite sex unless it was another of the Zodiac. And all others of the Zodiac are a part of his family and most are males. Their are only a few females and none of his age are available. So he had got himself ready for a life of solitary. It just now started to make sense to him why Shigure was such a pervert. Was he too destined to become a pervert like every other male in his family? He also wondered if it was just him or was she able to embrace all the others without the worry of transformation? It was a question worth figuring out maybe there was just something about her that allowed him to be able to embrace her without changing, and if it was her then maybe she would know what it was. So either way it was worth getting to know her.

The meeting was over and now they had to get there class schedules. Kagome looked at Yuki "Would you like to come with me to get our schedules for class? What are you going to major in?" Kagome asked curious to know if they would have any classes together, but she doubted they would. Not many would major in Japanese ancient history and Japanese myth and legends. Kagome want to be an archeologist. Kagome had lived in the past now she wants to uncover it.

"I am doing to major in Japanese ancient history and Japanese myth and legends. I am going to work at the museum that my family owns back home. I will be running it once I have my degree so I will also be taking business management. How about you?" he asked standing then offering her his hand.

Kagome accepted his hand with a smile and thought 'he is such a gentleman!' "Me too. I want to be an archeologist. So I will be taking Japanese ancient history and Japanese myth and legends but I will also be taking world history. There is something about discovering the past that excites me. I live on a shrine on the other end of Tokyo so I grew up on legends of demons and magical objects and the ability to find some sort of proof of the legends I had grew up with is amazing. I got accepted into Tokyo U because of my thesis on the Shikon no Tama. I was able to find things that not even my history teacher knew of and I had the ancient scrolls in my shrine to back up my theory. But my next goal is something I know others do not know of and that is the making of the jewel. I know how it was made and I even know where it is just finding the place I need to be that will be hard. If I can find where the Taijiya village was 500 years ago then I could find the remains of the battle that made the jewel. I know all this because it was an ancestor of mine that was the guardian of the jewel when it disappeared. I would love to find the descendents of the other two humans within the group because they might have information I do not. The other two human’s names were Sango and Miroku. Miroku was a Buddhist monk while Sango was a demon slayer and the last of her village. They had planned to marry then rebuild the village I wanted to find out if she had in fact rebuilt the village. All I know was the village was hidden near the mountains." Kagome said before she chuckled "Look at me talking your ear off. It’s just that when I get started talking about the Jewel I am incapable of shutting up." Kagome finished with a blush.

"No need, it was interesting. I had heard the legend of the jewel but I don’t know the details. I would love to hear them sometimes as I have said I will be running a museum and the odds of running into something from then are high." Yuki said as they followed the masses to the tables on the auditorium floor all in alphabetical order.

Kagome blushed 'it sounded like he just asked me out. And we are still holding hands.' she thought before she answered "Sure I’ll give you my number so you can call me when you have time enough. You’ll just have to wait for me if you get your schedule before I do." she accepted his offer with a smile. She can not believe she had finally met a human she was interested in.

He nodded and with a smile "Ok then I’ll meet you by the door in a little bit."

"Ok" Kagome said then walked to her line to get her schedule all the while hoping they were in the same classes.

He stood by the door as he told her he would watch her as she waited in line. She was next inline to receive her schedule. He had seen her look towards the door to see if he was still there and smiled at her in which she blushed and adverted her eyes. He could tell she was attracted to him and he was to her as well so maybe he was not destined to be alone after all? But was it worth it to get her involved with his family? He knew that if he should tell someone of her ability to embrace him without the change occurring because it could mean something important, but he was unsure how he felt about that just yet. He knew that some of the others would find her attractive as well and he was not willing to give her up to anyone. Maybe he should insure his position with her before introducing her to his family? 'I am getting ahead of myself I don’t even know if she is available.' he thought watching her walk towards him after getting her schedule.

"Thanks for waiting maybe we can grab something to eat. I have no classes today how about you?" Kagome asked when she made it over to Yuki.

"I said I would. And I would love to get something to eat with you. My classes don’t start for a few days." Yuki replied to Kagome's questions with a pleasant smile.

"Me too. I wonder if we have any classes together. I'll show you my schedule at lunch. We can part ways after lunch because I have to run to the fabric store downtown. My grandfather wants me to help out in the shrine and I refuse to wear the red and white miko clothing, it reminds me to much of someone and I hate looking like her. So I was going to have the uniform made in white and blue instead of red." Kagome said with a face displaying her displeasure at having to wear the traditional miko garb.

"Oh you’re a miko? What store are you going to have your outfit made?" Yuki asked already knowing she was going to say his brothers store because it was the only place downtown that made cloths.

"Yea it’s kind of a family thing. And the place is called White Rose or something like that. My mother said he was kind of different but very good at what he does. She had been going to him since the store opened. I think I might have an old fashion fighting Kimono made as well." Kagome said as they walked out of the school and on to the street.

'Maybe that is the reason she can embrace me without changing?' he thought to himself before he spoke "He is different, but that is to kind of a description of him if you ask me. It is my older brother that owns the place; he is a very good tailor. Maybe I’ll go with you so I could visit my brother." he said with a smile not wanting her to realize that he wanted to go in order to make sure he keeps his perverted antics to himself.

"Ok I guess since it is your brother. It will be boring I know men don’t like to shop." Kagome said chuckling. She was about to say something else when she heard her name being called from behind her.

"Higurashi!" a young masculine voice called as a tall brown haired male came running out of a crowd of students that were leaving the grounds of the university.

Kagome heard the voice and knew all to well who it was 'will he ever give up?' she thought dejectedly while her shoulders slumped in defeat "Shit" she whispered "not again" she finished before turning around and offering Hojo a fake smile. "Oh Hey Hojo."

"Ah Higurashi it is so great to see you! You made it into Tokyo University too that is great! Hey I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies with me Friday. That is if you’re feeling up to it." Hojo asked not paying any attention to the boy she had with her at the moment.

"Sorry Hojo but I have plans." Kagome started.

"Ok then how about Saturday?" Hojo asked relentlessly he was not about to give up on her. He had been after Kagome since middle school and there was no way some college fling would get in his way! He and Kagome were meant to be and as soon as she realizes that they are perfect for each other the better.

"Saturday?" Kagome said looking to Yuki pleadingly all the while thinking 'please say something to help me get out of this!' she hoped her thoughts were loud enough for him to pick up. "Um"

"She has plans for the weekend with me." Yuki said while stepping closer to Kagome and wrapping an arm around her shoulders and she leans into him with a grateful smile.

"I see. Well I’ll call to see if you’re free next weekend." Hojo said nonplused with a smile and a wave "C-ya Higurashi" and with that he ran away.

"He doesn't seem to get a clue no matter how many times I turn him down. It had been like this since middle school. My friends use to push me to date him and I am talking literally. They were insane; they thought that because we were considered the best looking in the school that we belonged together. I could not disagree more he is too boring for me. I had been through and seen more than your average girl and he would never be able to handle my life style. A lot a boys cant which is why I am single, my being a miko does not help any either." Kagome said as they continued their walk down the street towards Wacdonalds.

"I know how you feel. At my high school I had a fan club, girls screaming singing a song about me while I walked past them. I perfected the art of ignoring it. What did you mean by you being a miko did not help? I don’t understand how you being a miko could cause that kind of problem." Yuki said smiling at her as they walked.

"You would never believe me if I told you. Or you would think I was insane but people still come to the shrine thinking there home was cursed or haunted. And of course my grandfather would make me go to there house and bless it even though I sensed neither magic nor anything strange from the home. The only things I had run in to that were cursed or possessed were at my shrine. A few years a go there was this mask that eats the flesh of humans while it possessed there body. It had killed like 5 people and even made the paper but a week later people forgot about it. It’s like the whole population is under a spell to forget anything supernatural that happens. I am sure you think I’m crazy but you could find the paper and read it your self. The newspaper did not know what it was but I did because it came from my shrine. I guess you would have to believe in demons and curses to believe my story." Kagome said with a laugh sure that she was scaring him away. She had never been so open with anyone before but she knew something was different about him.

"So you of demon's and curses?" he asked curious as to what she actually knew. Miko's of ancient were the ones called to kill demons or break curses. When the curse that affects his family was cast they commissioned a miko to break it but she did not house enough power to actually break it. He believed in demons because the curse of the cat. So he was not so surprised that someone else would believe in such a thing though he was curious as to why she would believe in it.

"Well yes it is the business of a miko to know of demons and curses. I am probably the last miko trained in the ancient ways. I am also trained in the katana and the ways of the Taijiya. I know many fighting techniques that have been forgotten, its sort of a hobby of mine." Kagome said with a blush she is not use to boasting about her abilities.

"If you are interested one of these weekends I could maybe bring you to my families museums we have many things from the era were miko's were well known." Yuki offered while holding the door open and allowing Kagome to enter first.

"Thanks" Kagome blushed as she walked into Wacdonalds.
