Illusions

Prologue


Sesshoumaru swept through the halls of the castle towards his father's study. He had been summoned there first thing in the morning. He didn't waste much thought to the reason. He just wanted to get it over with to be able to spend his day in the solitude of the forest.

Inu no Taichou raised his head as he opened the door. There was no need to knock since his father was expecting him and knew it was him as soon as he reached the door.

"You summoned me, Father?"

"Yes, son, please take a seat," Inu no Taichou offered to his oldest child. He sat back in his chair and regarded Sesshoumary through narrowed eyes. "You ought to know by now why you are here. It is time for you to start thinking about having a mate. I'm not going to push you into this but you should know that I'm not so young anymore and would like to see my kingdom passed on to my children in the near future. To be able to do that, I want reassurance that my heir is having children of his own."

Sesshoumaru's expression didn't waver as he listened to his father's speech. He had been waiting for this ever since his first heat had come. He sighed mentally as he remembered that fiasco. He had been young and not able to control himself as he could today. He kept looking at his father as the speech continued.

"I'm not interested in who is your mate and that is why I ask that you do not feel appalled to any suggestion your youki does for you. Even if it is a human then let it be a human. You have grown with Inuyasha and have you ever thought him any less than a demon?"

Sesshoumaru bit his tongue. It was true that he had been some times thinking Inuyasha as a lowly human but that was only because of his stupid customs and ideas of the world. Inuyasha wasn't ruled by his demon blood but by his human one and it made him more docile to his demon urges. Inuyasha hadn't yet had a heat and probably would not even notice anything different in himself when he did. "No, Father, he is equal to me as a demon," he answered, knowing that it was true. His little brother had proofed to be quite a opponent when fighting with him. He had even lost a few times to him. Nothing was easy when it came to Inuyasha and gaining a victory of him in a fight was certainly one of the hardest things he had done.

Inu no Taichou smiled at him a smile he didn't like at all. "Good, you are dismissed
