A Broken Soul

Chapter 2: Her Hidden Condition


“Keade, where is everybody at?”

“They left Inuyasha and no I don’t know where they went.”

Inuyasha sat across from Keade sipping his soup. When it hit him, Kagome wasn’t coming back.

*Flashback*
Inuyasha pounded into Kikyo, harder with each thrust of his hips. Kikyo had her arms around his neck moaning louder with each of his thrust. His eyes were almost completely red, when he heard the snap of a twig somewhere near them. He scanned all around them and saw no one. Pushing into her twice more he reached his climax and yelled Kikyo’s name. Their yells mixing as Kikyo yelled out hisname in completion.

*End Flashback*

“She’s not coming back, Keade. She’s never coming back.”

“What are ye talking about child?”

“she saw me and Kikyo rutting in the forest…. I have to find her and explain.”

“Ye can do nothing in ye current state, Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha leaned back against the wall and soon fell into and uneasy sleep.

After, they ate and cleaned the dishes they had used they packed put out the fire. Sesshomaru not wanting to deal with them any longer then necessary, lifted them all into the sky using his youkai cloud. Sango, Miroku, Shippou, and Kirara slept, but Kagome sat with her eyes closed. Sesshomaru could feel her aura expanding out about a mile scanning for danger.

They arrived at his castle within three hours time. Servants were called to carry Sango and Kirara to one room and Miroku to another room, while Shippou slept in Kagome’s arms.

“Do you wish to sleep, miko?”

“No, but I would like to tuck my son into bed.”

Sesshomaru, nodded in understanding and lead her down a series of hallways. Kagome following him silently.

*Sesshomaru‘s POV*
She is a strange ningen. Why would she adopt a kitsune child as her own? She lacks fear and respect for me. But, is one of the cleanest ningens I’ve ever met. Her skin is milky and flawless. I wonder if she taste as good as she smells? This Sesshomaru will never stoop as low as to lay with a ningen bitch or desire one, much less think about one. Besides she’s Inuyasha’s bitch.
*End Sesshomaru’s POV*

“I am not Inuyasha’s bitch, Sesshomaru. I never have been, nor do I desire to be.”

Sesshomaru stopped dead in his tracks and turned to face her. His eyes showing his intense anger. In a flash Kagome was pent to the wall by her throat. She could see the red creeping into his eyes. Before Kagome could stop her energy, it travel through her entire body and into Sesshomaru. Releasing her, he growled low in her throat.

“My thoughts are mine alone, miko. Stay out of my head.”

“I am a mind reader and I can move things using only my mind, sometimes my powers escape my control. But, you have no right to call me ‘Inuyasha’s Bitch’.”

“Your room is on the right side of mine. We’ll speak in the morning.”

Sesshomaru turned and walked into the room in front of him. Kagome smiled to herself and entered the room he had indicated. It was dark inside so Kagome had to feel her way around the room. Finding and climbing into the bed Kagome settled both herself and Shippou into bed and was soon fast asleep as well.

*A Week Later*

The alliance had been formed and now Sesshomaru traveled with their group. They had found fifteen jewel shards since they left Edo a week and a half ago. But, now they were headed back to the House of the Moon, due to a ball that Sesshomaru was obligated to host this year. Much to Kagome’s annoyance.

“Sesshomaru why don’t you and they others go back to the House of the Moon. I’ll meet you there in about three days. I’ve got business to attend to.”

“Miko, you will head back with us.”

“I will not be ordered around Sesshomaru and as for the last damn time my name is Kagome, KA-GO-ME.”

“I don’t care what your name is only that you follow orders, onna.”

“I don’t know who the fuck you think you are, but my parents are dead and as such no one can order me around.”

Kagome turned and took two steps before Sesshomaru caught her wrist in his hand in a firm grip. Turning to face him Kagome had her desert eagle pointed at his heart. Growling low in her throat Kagome glared at him gold clashing with cerulean in a silent battle of will. Her in human growl had surprised Miroku, Sango, and Shippou, but had greatly impressed Sesshomaru for he had never heard a human growl like and inuyoukai before and actually do it right.

“Release me, NOW.”

“Come quietly or by force, miko. Choose.”

“I chose by force.”

Kagome snatched her hand from his grasp and jumped back. Sesshomaru disappeared right in front of her eyes, but Kagome could feel his movements. She closed her eyes and used only her hearing and the air currents around her to track his movements. Since her eyes were a liability right now. Spinning to the right and ducking down Kagome avoided the demon lords sword slash. They continued on like that for hours until Kagome spin kicked Sesshomaru in his chest and sent him flying back several yards all the while keeping her gun aimed at his heart. Kagome was getting tired and Sesshomaru surprised she had even lasted the five hours that they’d been going at it. Though he would never admit it she was strong and extremely powerful and he was impressed by the small slip of a girl.

“Since your obviously tired and wasting time why not come with us to the House of the Moon and deal with the ball your trying to run away from?”

“Because I don’t feel like dealing with Kouga, not that it’s any of your business.”

“I’ll deal with the wolf if it will get you to move your ass, onna.”

“Fine, if you pull the stick out your ass, Sesshomaru-SAMA.”

Sesshomaru and Kagome traveled by his youkai cloud and Miroku and the others traveled on Kirara’s back. By the time they arrived at the castle it was time for the evening meal. Sango sat eating quietly her sister didn’t seem to want to talk to her. She neither bathed, laughed, or talked with Sango and she was taking it pretty hard. Miroku was also at a loss, Kagome used to talk with him often, expertly when his wind tunnel was bothering him. Even, Shippou was feeling the lonely. He still slept with her, but she didn’t play with him anymore. But, unlike the others he knew why she no longer did these things. Her soul was breaking even more without the other half. Sesshomaru broke the silence.

“The other taiyoukai and the lower lords will be arriving tomorrow. Act accordingly and monk keep your hands to yourself or you’ll lose them.”

“May I be excused, Sesshomaru.”

It was a statement not a question, but Sesshomaru nodded his head all the same. Kagome disappeared back to the room she had last time she was here. Sesshomaru noticed she spent more and more time by herself and was becoming colder and uncaring toward those around her, even her friends and was going to find out why.

“What is wrong with the miko?”

He was surprised when the fox kit spoke up.

“She is broken. She has been since the dead miko corpse Kikyo took half of her soul. But, recently her family pasted away. The grief of her loss and the strain of having only half a soul is destroying the half of her soul that resides within her body. The damage is so great that even if the other half of her soul was given back to her it to would start to break.”

All eyes were on the little kitsune child and it made him slightly uncomfortable. Sesshomaru stood and left the dining hall in search of Kagome. Finding her in her room he entered the room without knocking.

“You will be my escort to the ball, if you have no one else.”

“Fine, but I have nothing to wear.”

“I will provide you with something to wear. But, you can not harm any of the quest except the wolf. Only, if he is bothering you may you do him harm.”

“Okay.”

“Do you know your condition?”

“Yes.”

“Why did you not speak to me about it?”

“Because nothing can be done about it.”

He turned to leave, but stopped with his back to her.

“You have my respect, Kagome.”
