The storm before the calm

A/N: sorry that this chapter is so short. I could have continued on with the chapter (As I already have most of the second chapter up) but I thought that having you sit and wonder would be interesting. Oh, and if I get Sesshomaru's personality a bit wrong, then sorry. And I forgot to add this in the last chapter: SESSHOMARU STILL HAS HIS ARM! To me, he never lost it. Anyways, lets continue on with the story.

Chapter two: The Storm Before the Calm.

Kagome opened her eyes slowly, trying to focus on what her eyes saw before her. When her vision cleared, her view of the top of the well turned out to be the ceiling of the shrine's well house. She shifted in her current position only to feel a body lying heavily on her hindering her movement. However, she knew that the body on top of her wasn’t Inuyasha’s or Kouga's. It was Sesshomaru.

“Sesshomaru-sama…?” She questioned as she blinked at the motionless inu lord in confusion.

The Taiyokai slowly began to stir until he finally rose to a sitting position, taking in his mysterious surroundings with hidden bewilderment. He knew that they had fallen into the pit of The Bone Eater’s Well, but the light that appeared as they were descending had left him in a state of distress and now his senses where going awry. The air seemed tainted somehow, but not with the scent of blood or the salty aroma of sweat. The roaring sound of the pouring rain pierced his sensitive ears. Something was definitely wrong with this picture. The sounds of a fight should have been echoing outside of the well, but the rain crashing against wood was the only sound that could be heard, at first. In the distance, other sounds were heard that he couldn’t even identify.

“Where are we?” He demanded, his cold golden eyes focused on Kagome.

Kagome, now able to move, lifted herself from the dirt and bone encrusted ground, leaning against the cold stone wall of the well, scratching her head as if in thought. “This is my world, but the question is, how did we get here? Or more like, how did you get here Sesshomaru-sama?”

“This Sesshomaru does not know…” He replied softly never removing his cold gaze from her.

“Kagome!” Kagome sharply turned her head up towards the sound of her brother, Souta, as he peered down the well at the pair, “Is that you?” He squinted his eyes as if to see through the shadows of the well only to see his big sister and someone else he didn’t know. In a way, he resembled Inuyasha with the long silver hair and the golden eyes, only glacial in demeanor. It sent shivers down his spine but now was not the time to ponder over someone's appearance. His sister and her new friend needed to get out of there fast.

“What’s wrong Souta?” Kagome asked as she began to make the tedious climb out of the well. Sesshomaru decided to take the easy way and lept out of the pit.

“It’s a really bad thunderstorm out there.” Shota said, grabbing his sister’s hand, dragging her towards the exit of the well house. “I saw the flash of light when you two got here. Mom and Grandpa are already in the storm cellar. Come on. It’s not safe here.”

Kagome turned her attention towards the inuyokai. “Sesshomaru-sama, follow me. I’ll explain everything when we get to the cellar.” Sesshomaru merely nodded in agreement, albeit begrudgingly, and followed her and her brother out into the trashing storm.

To say it was bad was an understatement. It was like a monsoon. The sound of rain and thunder was earsplitting around them. Though she seemed to be fighting her way though the storm, Sesshomaru acted as though it didn’t effect him.

Kagome glanced at the Taiyokai, only to be blinded the next second by a loud explosion sounding though out the shrine. Flying pieces of wood were strewn about the shrine grounds. A large piece came sailing towards her, but it was quickly knocked aside by Sesshomaru. The next thing she saw made the miko practically scream in absolute horror.

The well house had been destroyed. That bolt of lighting destroyed her way of getting back to the Futile Era and now Sesshomaru was bound in her era with no way back. With that last thought in mind, her world went black.

**

Sesshomaru sat outside of Kagome's home on the steps, his mind trying to make sense of the events from the night before. The storm had past last night, and Kagome was still in bed asleep. He could only guess that yesterday’s events took a toll on her. Of course, her health and her concerns had nothing to do with him. So why did he protect her both times, first, against Naraku, second, during the storm. It bothered him that his body reacted on its own volition, but he would deal with that later. What his biggest problem was that he was stuck in the future era.

Kagome’s mother had tried to explain everything once the storm had stopped. It seemed like the well was the only thing that connected his time and Kagome’s time. However, with the well destroyed, he couldn’t get back at all. This time was much different then his; the air was tainted and reeked of humans, and it was loud, unbelievably loud. He had to tone down his hearing to even think. He had been in this time for only a night, and already he didn’t care for it.

He wasn’t too concerned about Rin and Jaken. Sesshomaru had told Jaken that if something ever happened to him, he was to bring Rin back to the castle, stay there, and not leave for any reason. Jaken would take care of Rin until he returned. Sesshomaru just hoped that the kappa would do exactly as he ordered.

“Sesshomaru-sama?” Kagome said softly as she opened the door. She looked down to see the youkai in deep thought, though she knew for a fact that he heard her. “I’m sorry for getting you stuck here…”

“Do not apologize.” He answered; his voice betrayed no emotion. “It not your fault that we’re stuck here. Unless if you intended to pull me here, there is nothing to apologize about.”

Kagome smiled and sat down next to Sesshomaru. “Grandpa says that there’s no way back. With the well destroyed, it’s just not possible.”

The Taiyokai sighed softly. He already heard this once. He didn’t need to hear it again. “Then what do you propose I do, miko?”

Kagome shook her head. “I’m not a miko here. I’m just a normal high school student. I don’t have my powers here. So just call me Kagome.” She stood up and brushed the dirt off of her skirt. “What you should do though, is get to learn this world and try to blend in. Inuyasha could never do it. His dog-ears were a dead giveaway, that, and he never tried to blend in.”

Sesshomaru stood as well. He didn’t like the idea of blending in with humans, but by this time, he didn’t really have a choice. There was no demonic aura besides his own, which meant that there were no demons in this era. He turned and faced Kagome. “Teach me then, Kagome. If I’m stranded here, then teach me.”

The girl smiled. It shouldn’t be that hard to teach Sesshomaru how to live like a human. But then again, the youkai had only seen a small portion of her world. Well, it seemed like he was going to get a cold bucket of water in the face when she brought him out into the city.
