My Hearts Desires

The morning brought on another long day’s journey. As Sesshomaru and company headed through the countryside. Sesshomaru keen sense of smell caught the scent of human blood and scent of his archrival Naruku. As the gang quickly approached the village, they encounter a demon several stories tall. The demon was brown like mud, with no shortage of sharp horns, claws and teeth. The villagers were screaming as the demon wreaked havoc, slashing through the soldiers that were trying to fight off the demon with bow and arrows.

Sesshomaru could definitely smell that bastard Naruku, but he was unable to locate him. The scent seemed to come from everywhere. Either Naruku was there or this pathetic excuse for a demon was another on of Naruku’s reincarnations. By the time that they got to the village, Sesshomaru in all his urgency to find Naruku foolishly ran into the demon unsheathing his sword and thrusting it at the demon.

“Where is Naruku?” growled Sesshomaru

“You wish to find Naruku? You will die before you can answer.” Laughed the demon.

The demon seeing the dog demon charging him, took his large hand swatted him away. Sending Sesshomaru flying into one of villager’s houses. Rin and Jakken arrived at the scene just as Sesshomaru was sent flying.

“Lord Sesshomaru!” screamed Rin. Frightened by the sight, Rin jumped off the two head beast that she was riding reached for her sword that Sesshomaru had given her and taught how to wield. Jakken while still watching the scene saw the audacity of the young woman as she leaped off the animal, and tried to stop her. As she was about to swing her sword, Sesshomaru leaped in front of her pushing her aside. He unsheathed his powerful sword, Tokijin and with one mighty blow, the demon was brought down. With the demon vanquished, the scent of Naruku was gone.

“Damn.” Said Sesshomaru “Another wild goose chase.”

Running up to Sesshomaru, Rin and Jakken came in closely to make sure he was ok.

“Master are you ok?” asked Jakken.

“Yes, I’m fine. I was just a little over zealous.” Turning his gaze from Jakken to Rin. “Rin what were you thinking?” Sesshomaru asked sternly.

“Why did you teach me to wield this sword if never let me use it?” snapped Rin.

“How dare you snap at me! I taught you to use that sword for your protection. That demon would have destroyed you. I made a mistake in his strength, but I can handle a beast of that size.”

“I’m sorry my lord.” She said shamed at her outburst toward her lord, with her head lowered in respect.


The group continued on in silence. Rin was lost in thought.

“Why must he be so stubborn, doesn’t he know I can handle things for myself? Why must he shut me out? Oh, if I didn’t love him so much. But he will accept me as an equal.”

Sesshomaru who usually leads the way as Jakken held the reigns of the beast that Rin is riding, summoned Jakken to his side.

“Jakken, we must find a village for Rin.” He said seriously

“I agree master.” Jakken responded.

“ We are in agreement that she has to go, but you must know that the Rin declared her love for me last night. So we need to find a safe place to stow her, away from me.”

“Absolutely, master. What did you say to Rin after she declared her love.”

“ I told her that I cannot be with her and that was it.” Sesshomaru said with a straight stare in front of him.

“Master, you don’t have feelings for Rin, do you?”

After a moment of silence Sesshomaru spoke. “ I just want to make sure that she is safe. If I have any feelings for the girl, it would be because she has given her life to me to protect. Jakken I’m letting you know that I will be going off on my own, this evening, after we set up camp.”

“I understand, master.” Replied Jakken. He knew what that meant. Every so often, Sesshomaru would go off and find a woman to release his ‘emotions’ and stress on. He hated having to be alone with Rin when Sesshomaru would leave, she would ask so many questions. But now that she had declared her love for Lord Sesshomaru, she will be even more distraught about his leaving.
