Rude Inus
Chapter 2
Kagome began to stir not wanting to wake up since Inuyasha had dragged them all over the country side like a drill sergeant for the past week she moaned and turned over trying to ignore the aggravating presence that insisted she awake. "one more minute." She mumbled through her pillow.
"Please Miss wake up the lord will be most unpleased" The maid shuddered when she said unpleased knowing all to well what would happen if the lord became even slightly ‘unpleased’. "should you arrive late for dinner he will not take kindly to you…or myself for that matter." She shook the groggy miko again this time a little more urgently.
Having fully opened her eyes she was shocked to say the least. "Where am I" the miko squealed and while shooting up into a sitting a position.
"You are at the Lord Sesshomaru’s Western castle Miss."
Memories came crashing down upon her. She was sitting at the well which had closed some years back not allowing her to return to her own time, but it was still a place she liked to go to think. She was lost in thought over the recent information that had greatly disturbed her and least to say shocked the hell out of her as well. When Sesshomaru had approached her demanding that she do something for him and next thing she knew she was thrown over his back like a bag of rice and carried of into the sunset. After flying and partly because the blood had gone to her head for an hour she had dozed off or passed out. Still not quite for sure which one.
The maid had set about preparing her bath supplies and laid out a fresh deep blue kimono for the miko to wear. Having just realized what the maid wanted her to do she became curious. "Why are you drawling me a bath and putting clothes out for me? I’m just fine in the clothes that I am currently wearing but thank you anyway." She said as politely has she could not wanting to offend the maid for her generosity.
"Oh no Miss.." Kagome had cut her off
"Please call me Kagome" She hated it when people didn’t use her name. Though the maid meant no harm maybe it was all the years of being called ‘Wench’, ‘Miko’, ‘Stupid Girl’, and so forth by grumpy Inus that had taken a toll on her patience with her when it came to her name.
"Oh hum...Miss Kagome the lord insist that you wash and change before you arrive to his study." Well it was close enough to what he had really said. The actual version went along the lines of ‘She is to wash I have no desire to endure the stench of that mutt that clings to her and have a kimono supplied to her. I do not desire to witness her disgusting nigen body that she so openly flaunts.’ but she had the feeling that the miko would be more corruptive with the sugar coated version.
Not wanting to possibly anger Sesshomaru in case he was going to tell her what the heck she was doing here she complied with the maid. After her hair was washed and brushed till it was smooth and glossy the maid had helped her slip into her kimono. Never having been taught how to put such a garment on she was at a loss and probably would have never made it clothed that is to Sesshomaru’s study without the maid.
Walking down the long and expansive hallways she quickly became lost has to were she was. The maid however seemed perfectly aware and stopped in front of a pair of shiny deep cherry wood doors that was heavily engraved with spectacular and detailed pictures of what seemed to be a great battle. Turning to ask the maid what the battle was she realized the maid had slipped away unnoticed and was no where in sight. Turning back to face the door she jumped back startled to see Sesshomaru standing before the opened door. Theses people need to wear bells or something.
"You should pay more attention miko. It is a wonder that you are still alive being so oblivious and under the care of my hanyou brother no less" Sesshomaru had stood there for what seem like an eternity before she realized he was there. He was an impatient man. He wondered how someone so unaware of her surroundings had survived for so long in the feudal era. He could tell what he had said irked her and it made him smile inside to know that he was the cause of her anger.
Kagome stood there glaring her heart out at the youki before her but refrained from lashing out her thoughts.
"Well are you going to let me in or are we just going to stand here and goggle at each other." Oh how she loved how he stiffened to her response. She could feel his aura darken even if he didn’t show it. Now that made the trip more worth it.
Turning without some much as a word Sesshomaru walked over to settle behind his desk. Kagome having well taken this as a sign to enter plopped down in the farthest chair possible from Sesshomaru.
He stared at the miko for what seemed a lifetime. He could tell his unwavering gaze made the miko uncomfortable for she began to fidget. Twisting and picking at the hems of her kimono she began to wonder what had come over Sesshomaru. Through out all the years she had known him he barely acknowledged them except to try and kill them. Now here she was sitting in his study with the ice lord himself staring at her as though she were the last person on earth he wished to see before his study. Hey it’s not like she wanted to be here either after all he kidnapped her not the other way around.
"Miko I desire first most to know of the recent information regarding your past life." He had heard a rumor of a "strange priestess" that had actually a had the soul of a goddess. Well there was only one strange priestess he had ever encountered and it was the miko before him and if she wasn’t strange he didn’t know what was. It mattered not if the rumors were to true she would still comply to his demands. She had no choice in the matter. Of course willing was always better it saved him a headache. Her shrieking and yelling voice always grated on his nerves.
Stunned to say the least she was unprepared to answer his question. How did he know. She had just found out for the love of god. News spreads faster here then in small towns. What was she going to do? Should she tell him the truth or make something up. She was never good at lying. Inuyasha always laughed and crossed his arms whenever she tried to say she was going for a bath but her real intentions were to go home for a while.
Flashback
Gathering her bathing supplies she waved cheerfully to her friends "Hey guys I’m going to take a bath. I stink since baka here insisted that we take no stops for baths for three days." She bared her teeth at that last statement. She remembered all to well what he had said. ‘No we don’t have time for bathing. What is your obsession with baths. It doesn’t make a difference you still stink anyway.’ Oh she had sat him hard that day she was positive that crater would remain until her time that is.
"Feh you aint going home." He sat crossed legged with his arms crossed around his chest and didn’t even bother to open his eyes.
"I said I was going to take a bath not go home!" She stomped her foot. Really he could be so aggravating. Dog demons please I thought dogs were man best friends. Obviously they never meet Inus before. If they had the dog population that was currently in her time overwhelming shelters with no homes to go to would never had been an issue. They would’ve never had any desire to domesticate them in the first place.
End of Flashback
She had to sit him twice before he let her go home for a much needed break and to finish her tests. As a matter of fact where is that baka. He better hurry and save her from this youki that has a tendency to become homicidal. A cold voice had brought her out of her daydreaming.
"Miko do not bother to lie to this Sesshomaru."
What how did he know what I was thinking. "What I wasn’t going to lie to you!" She crossed her arms angrily. Who does he think he is anyway.
He raised and elegant eyebrow at her childish antics.
She looked at him thoughtfully before launching into to the tale of how she found out her soul was that of a goddess. "Kaede was teaching me to hone in on my powers so together we went into a meditation state. I’m not for sure exactly how long we sat there but it was nightfall went we came to. During the time that we where meditating visions began to appear before us both." She paused looking to see his reaction. Startled was to say the least. When she had looked into his eyes they were blazing a hot amber color. She had never seen such from him. She didn’t know whether this was a good thing or a bad thing. Guess I’ll find out. "A place so bright it was hard to make out the details that appeared before us we saw a goddess she looked sorrowful down upon a glowing globe. Then it switched to a scene where the same goddess stood amongst her fellows and they argued. She wanted to wipe out all living things…of here that is. She wanted to start anew arguing that the balance was offset and the souls were corrupt. More souls collected in the underworld than in heaven. She was tired of overseeing the mundane events of lesser beings. Then the scene switched again a light so bright we had to turn away it was too much to handle. When we looked upon the scenes again the gods had surrounded the goddess and fought to subdue her. Thousands of years they fought with her and finally managed to overcome her. But it was to late she had wiped out all of the youki kind right before they had subdued her."
Breaking away from her story she stated absentmindedly "Which would explain why there is no demons in my time." Rubbing her forehead she continued " They held her in a dream like state from which she could not awake. Hundreds of years passed and the power of the gods was being to break. She could not be held down for ever. They held a meeting and in a last pitched effort they combined their powers to throw her into the realm of the living. She was born as a human girl. The gods having seen there mistake realizing she needed to go farther back in time in order to meet demons when they still existed before she did what she had done. Pulled this said girl threw a portal which happened to be the well of my parents shrine." Feeling tired at having said all that she looked to Sesshomaru to see what he had thought.
He had carefully listened to all that she said. There was no lie to her words. But it would explain why she had not died when he had covered her in his acid the day that he had met her. Still he was at a loss as to why the gods wanted her to come to this realm and to this time. What was the purpose? Turning his gaze upon her he stated his usual monotone voice "This said girl is you is it not"
Glancing up from her position she merely nodded her head.
"Why do you rub your head, are you in pain" Once again she was shocked. Did he actually care? "It matters not to this Sesshomaru. But this Sesshomaru needs you to be healthy for what he requires of you."
Figures did I mention dog demons are such jerks. "Well Sesshomaru I haven’t eaten all day I’m starting to get a headache." Not that he really gave a damn as long as he got what he wanted. Men they’re all the same.
"Then go. A maid will escort you to dinner." Standing up she blew out a frustrated breath she did not realize she was holding.
"Hey I told you my story now you need to tell why you brought me here. It’s only fair!"
Snarling having enough of her back talk he smacked her hard across the face knowing that it would leave a nice bruise. Grabbing her by her neck he brought her to his eye level. "You are in my domain now priestess. I decided what it fair and what is not." Tossing her to the floor he looked down at her and couldn’t help how beautiful her eye where when they began to water. Just like liquid jewels. That baka of a half brother of his was such a fool to not see what had been beside him all along. Wait what was he saying?
She flinched when she began to her him growl low in this throat. It wasn’t the first time she wondered if she would live through this experience. Inuyasha please hurry and save me. Even in her mind it sounded like a whine. "Miko, this Sesshomaru does not repeat himself. You will be informed of your purpose when times deems it so." Turning his back on her she decided she was indeed dismissed and would rather not push it anymore. She walked out of the room the moment she entered the hallway another demon was beside her. A different one than before.
"Come with me miss." Wow they sure were quick.
After the little miko had left Sesshomaru had began to ponder the newly disclosed events. As much as he hated to admit it she was just what he needed. Oh she may not like what was in store for her, but it mattered not. He left the study thinking of how to put his plan into action. True he was an impatient youki and could care less of the miko’s feelings regarding the matter. But he’s rather she be somewhat content so as to save him some very much unneeded annoyance. Now that Inuyasha was out of the way he would have no disturbances. It would pain the little miko to know of the betrayal of her closet friend perhaps even her love had done to her. He was sure she thought he would come to her rescue. Not this time he would not. He was with the dead one and that was how he wanted it to be.
