Chap 2 Introducing Sesshoumaru

“Hello Sesshoumaru!” Old Taisho stood up and greeted the younger man that had just entered the room. Kagome could only stare at him.

He was the most handsome man Kagome had ever seen. He had long silver hair that flowed down past his waist and seemed to be very well taken care of and his behaviour was almost regal. His eyes were a beautiful golden shade, but seemed cold and distant and his features were soft. He moved towards the eldest man with the grace of a feline and hugged him with his seemingly powerful arms.
“Gramps.” He gave the other member of the family a nod, then his eyes moved to Naraku and the first emotion appeared on his face, but it wasn’t a pleased one. Then his amber orbs landed on Kagome.

“Let me introduce you, Sesshoumaru. You already know Naraku,” The man nodded while not averting his eyes from Kagome, who, in turn, blushed slightly. “And this lovely lady is Kagome Higurashi. This is Sesshoumaru Taisho, my grandson.” He explained to the young lady. Kagome and Sesshoumaru shook hands and everybody sat down.

An hour had passed and Kagome had almost finished explaining her ideas. She felt a bit uneasy. The whole time Sesshoumaru kept adverting is piercing gaze at her only taking his eyes from her to take notes, while Naraku kept staring openly at the young man. Sesshoumaru’s eyes seemed to be going right through her skin, and she actually got the feeling she was back in school again and doing a math exercise on the board in front of everybody. What did that man have that made her so nervous? Was it his cold appearance? Was it that he kept staring at her? She found herself thinking that he would have made a fierce warrior in a past life.

She tried to think of a way to make him seem less intimidating. She remembered being told before her first meeting, that if she ever was so nervous in front of a crowd and about to collapse, she should picture everyone naked, but she knew that was a bad idea with that Adonis in front of her!

Finally it all ended. Both older Taishos asked her some questions, but Sesshoumaru remained silent, immersed in deep thought, staring at his fingers. The three men stood up and left the room followed by Kagome. She accompanied them to the elevator and said her good-byes to them. Toga stroked her cheek, causing Sesshoumaru to frown. Old Taisho hugged the girl, releasing her lithe body with a wink. The three men got in the car and disappeared behind the sleek doors of the black car. Kagome sighed; it had been a very hard morning, and it was still too early to discern what the rest of the day would be like.

She returned to the meeting room, intent on clearing from it all of the papers, muffins and discarded coffee cups. However, as she entered the room, she made a little scream, attracting some people by her side. Everyone was astonished by the view. All around the room papers lay scattered; the chairs were thrown everywhere, as if someone had been throwing them with ease, as if they were stones. And there was no sign of Naraku. Kagome cleared up the room of the scattered papers and called maintenance to replace the damaged chairs and clean the room.

She then headed to her desk; she had some writing to do. Through the years she had begun to write down all that happened during her meetings, how the client reacted to such request or to a certain idea and that helped her with future meetings. A lot had happened today, and she had some deep thinking to do. All through the morning she had noticed the Taishos were not their usual selves; she could feel there was something on their minds.

The three men were sitting in their limousine, none chancing looking at the others. Old Taisho was the first to speak.

“What do you think, Sesshoumaru?”

The Sesshoumaru frowned, and turned to look at his grandfather.

“Why do you want my opinion? Both of you have already made your decision.” He stated coolly.
“My son, we are asking you because we want your opinion. It’s true that you have only known her for a few hours, but it didn’t take me much longer than that to get a good impression of her myself”.
“Hn.” Sesshoumaru recalled what had happened during the presentation. It was true that the girl knew how to talk, how to communicate an idea and how to convince one to go with it, but what had impressed him the most was how she managed to create a comfortable atmosphere. He knew his father and grandfather didn’t get easily convinced, so this Kagome had to be a very special person for softening them in such a short time. He had to admit that he had felt very comfortable. He didn’t know if it was her soft voice, her smile or the way she made things easy to understand. Perhaps he should give the girl a chance.

“Ok, I agree to hire her. I just hope she doesn’t get on my nerves.” He replied after a short reflection of the meeting.

The older men gave each other a triumphant look. The hardest part was achieved. Now, they only had to convince Kagome. The only question now was, how?

Kagome was almost done with her typing. She was reading it again to make sure she hadn’t missed anything when some noise broke her concentration. She averted her eyes from the screen in front of her and saw Naraku leaning on the door’s frame. At first, she thought he would talk about the meeting and how she had managed, once again, to have the men around her finger. However, his eyes weren’t amused as usual, but cold. It sent shivers down her spine. Somehow Kagome knew it wasn’t going to be the usual conversation.

“Naraku, please come in.” her voice wavered ever so slightly as she motioned him to a chair nearby.

The man obeyed without averting his eyes from her, as if scrutinizing her. She felt most uncomfortable.

“So, it looks like you did it again, didn’t you?” His voice showed no emotion, it was cold. His eyes bored holes into her, cold and calculating, trying almost to pierce her skin. The young woman averted her eyes from him, she didn’t like the way he was behaving.

However, in the flinch of an eye he was gone, and clean air entered her lungs again. She kept her eyes right on the spot the man had been standing at and that’s how Yura found her, some minutes later, to tell her it was time to lock up for the night.

Kagome didn’t want to stay any longer than necessary in the office, not while everyone else had gone already and Naraku was still in the office, so she grabbed her purse and her jacket and left the building along with everyone else. She jumped in her car and headed for her best friend’s house. She needed to talk to someone who made her forget about Naraku.

Some minutes later she was knocking on Sango’s door. The girl opened the door with a bored look that changed into a broad smile when she saw who was on the other side.

“Kagome!!! Come in. It’s been some days! Have you been very busy?”

The young girl nodded while entering the house. They spent the whole afternoon talking to each other about nothing in particular, and Kagome began to relax. Somehow Sango knew something was bothering her best friend and, when she felt the girl was more relaxed she asked the right question.

Good friends know what to ask and when to ask, and Sango knew that. Kagome opened herself to Sango and told her everything about Naraku. Sango listened to her quietly noting Kagome needed to release what was bothering her. They spent the rest of the evening complaining about males and male bosses. When Kagome left Sango’s apartment she was feeling better.

So, I hope you guys liked it. Don't forget to tell me what you think!!
