On The Planning Committee

Chapter 2: On the Planning Committee

“Hey! Guys! Quiet for a sec,” Inuyasha called out to the rowdy students in his class. It was almost the end of the day and he was trying to find a student to act as the planning representative for the athletics festival that was soon coming up. So far he wasn’t even having any luck getting anyone to even listen. “Hey, I said shut the fuck up!” he finally yelled in frustration.

Everyone stopped their chatter and sat, looking a bit surprised at the aggravated teen.

Inuyasha took a breath to calm himself. “That’s better. As you guys know, the athletics festival is coming up and I would like a volunteer for someone to work on the planning committee…”

“Come on man,” Hojo complained rolling his eyes.

“Yeah, a planner is just another word for gofer. You’d never catch me doing a job like that,” Jaken scoffed, adding in his two cents.

“Then I’ll choose someone myself,” Inuyasha responded, gritting his teeth as he tried to hold back his ire at the shorter, dumpy looking youth.

“Well just don’t pick me,” Jaken replied, crossing his arms and giving his student chairman a defiant glare through his dyed green bangs.

“I think you’re abusing your power,” Hojo joked with a grin, trying to ease the sudden tension he felt flashing between the two teens that had never gotten along well. Jaken found Inuyasha too brash and bossy, while Inuyasha found Jaken to be too much of a whiner.

Inuyasha sighed and figured it best to just ignore them as he turned to the chalk board. He already knew who he wanted to help and he wrote Miroku's name on the board.

Miroku's eyes got large and he quickly looked to his master who had his lips set in a thin line. “Uh…I don’t…”

“Look, Miroku. I know it’s probably a pain in the ass, but would you do it? I’ll help you in anyway I can. What do you say?” Inuyasha gave the reluctant boy a big grin which caused Miroku to blush and then nod his head.

“Great! I’ll take you to where you need to go and introduce you to the other guys on the committee.”

The bell rang and everyone rushed out of their seats to head out before their chairman decided to volunteer them for anything. Sesshoumaru stood and walked out of the room glaring daggers at Inuyasha.

“Come on,” Inuyasha told Miroku, totally ignoring Sesshoumaru. The two boys went upstairs to the room the planning committee were using to prepare for the festival. Inuyasha poked his head in the door until he saw who he was looking for. “Kouga!” he shouted, waving his hand.

Miroku stood behind his new friend waiting to see what he would have to do. A very tanned boy sauntered over towards them.

“That’s my older cousin,” Inuyasha whispered to Miroku. “He’s the head of the planning committee, he’s okay.”

“Yo, Inuyasha. Who’s this?” Kouga asked with a crooked grin adorning his face. He had his long dark hair up in a ponytail and Miroku was surprised to see he had blue eyes like himself, but where his were quite dark; Kouga’s were lighter and very bright.

“He’s a cute one isn’t he?” Kouga joked, grinning more when he saw Inuyasha frown in annoyance.

“This is Miroku. Miroku this is Kouga,” he introduced the two boys. “He’s our rep from our class. He just transferred here so don’t give him a hard time,” he growled at his cousin.

Kouga put his hand on his chin looking like he was deep in thought. “Hmmm, I see. Hey, isn’t this the guy you’re crushing on?” the tanned teen laughed.

Inuyasha turned ten shades of red and then punched his cousin in the stomach. “Stop with your shit,” he yelled angrily.

Kouga was bent over holding his aching stomach, but he was still laughing loudly between gasping in some deep breaths, causing the others in the classroom to look at the three boys curiously as they stood in the doorway.

“I was kidding, jeeze. Can’t you take a joke, ya mutt?” Kouga returned, using his favourite pet name for his cousin since they had been children. He turned to Miroku, ignoring the scowling and fuming dark haired teen, “Come on, I’ll find something for you to do.”

A half hour later Miroku was wobbling down the stairs trying to make it back to the room with four large wooden panels. Kouga had sent him and another student, Bankotsu, to gather them, but the other boy had ran into his girlfriend and had decided to talk to her, telling Miroku to go on ahead.

The pig-tailed boy made it half-way down the steps before his foot began to slip. “Wh….oh!” he cried out. Just when he was sure he was going to go flying down the stairs, Inuyasha grabbed onto the panels he was holding to steady him.

“Gotcha!” Inuyasha called out triumphantly. “Wow, that’s a lot for one guy to be carrying. Kouga’s not working you too hard, is he? Sometimes he thinks he’s some kind of prince or something,” Inuyasha grumbled as he took two of the panels. “This is too heavy for one person…wasn’t Bankotsu supposed to help you?”

Bankotsu had an ugly look on his face as he came charging down the stairs. “Get outta the way,” he intoned angrily as he bumped into Inuyasha.

“Hey, Hold on!” Inuyasha yelled. Bankotsu stopped and gave him an angry stare. His girlfriend had just broken up with him and he was in no mood to dick around.

Inuyasha glared right back at him and pushed the two panels he had been holding into Bankotsu’s arms.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” the angry braided hair boy asked Inuyasha irritably

“I’m sure I heard Kouga ask you to help him,” Inuyasha stated. “I can’t believe you made one guy carry all of these by himself.”

Bankotsu may have been older than this pip-squeak, but he knew Kouga had a reputation for being a mean fighter and since he was the cousin to said pip-squeak, who he could be overly protective of, he really didn’t have a lot of choices. “Fine!” he huffed at Inuyasha, grabbing the panels and taking them into the room at the bottom of the stairs.

Miroku was utterly impressed. “Inuyasha…you…you were great.”

“Why?” his friend returned quizzically.

“That guy is an upper classman!”

“So? You can’t let jerks like that get away with that stuff. They’ll just keep taking advantage of you. You gotta learn to speak up when someone does shit like that to you,” Inuyasha informed the boy with a bit of a frown.

Miroku blushed and dropped his eyes. “I’m…I’m not very good with telling people off, so…

Inuyasha sighed. “Maybe I was wrong.”

“What?” Miroku asked, confused by his friends comment.

“I mean, I shouldn’t have forced you to do this. You probably didn’t really want to, right?”

Miroku gave his friend a huge smile. No one had ever worried about what he did or did not want and it made him happy to think that Inuyasha was concerned about how he felt. “It’s okay. I’m having fun, really. Everyone’s been really nice.”

“R…really?” Inuyasha asked his heart picking up speed as he looked at the smiling face in front of him.

It was at that moment that Jakotsu came down the steps. “Coming through,” he called out in a sing-songy voice. The two boys tried to allow the effeminate boy room to pass between them, but Jakotsu caught his toe on the corner of the panels Miroku was holding, pushing them into the shy teen causing him to fall backwards. Both Inuyasha and Jakotsu reached out to grab the falling teen, but it was too late.

Sesshoumaru came around the corner just in time to see his servant tumbling down the stairs and without thinking of where he was, called on his demon magic, allowing Miroku to float softly to the ground. Jakotsu was in too much of a panic to notice, but Inuyasha did. ‘What the hell?!’

The two panels went clattering down the stairs and were going to fall onto Miroku, who was a bit stunned by what had happened and hadn’t moved yet. Inuyasha was trying desperately to grab them when Sesshoumaru leapt over the prone body of the other boy, putting himself between the heavy panels and Miroku.

Inuyasha and Jakotsu made it to the bottom of the stairs at the same time and began to pull the panels off the two boys.

“Are you guys alright?” Inuyasha asked as Jakotsu managed to pull the second panel off by himself. The slight boy may have looked like a girl, but he was stronger than people gave him credit for.

Miroku looked up into his master’s face to see a huge gash on his forehead that was bleeding heavily.

“Are you injured?” Sesshoumaru questioned the boy he was lying on.

“No, I…I’m…” He never got a chance to finish his sentence as Sesshoumaru slumped forward onto him, unconscious. “Sesshoumaru?” Miroku questioned. He received no answer. “Sesshoumaru!” Miroku quickly hid the wound as he noticed it glowing as his master’s own healing ability began to work.

“Jakotsu, run and get the school nurse, hurry,” Inuyasha ordered as he helped Miroku push Sesshoumaru over so he was lying on his back. “Are you okay, Miroku?” Inuyasha asked his voice laced with concern.

“Y…yeah, I’m okay…but Sesshoumaru…” ‘He saved me. Sesshoumaru saved me, but why?’

“He’ll be okay, the nurse will be here in a few minutes,” Inuyasha soothed looking the white haired boy over. He couldn’t see a mark on him. “He’s just gotten knocked out. Hey, did you get cut? Sesshoumaru’s got blood on him, but I can’t see a wound.”

Inuyasha looked up at the building that he found himself in front of. He had gone to the school office to get the address of the two exchange students to return their bookbags that they had left behind after the nurse had proclaimed Sesshoumaru fit to leave. She had told him, however, to check in with his doctor if he should feel dizzy or nauseous.

The first thing that had surprised Inuyasha was that both boys were living in the same apartment. The second had been upon seeing the building. ‘How could two high school students afford to live in this swanky condo…sheesh. Must be that Sesshoumaru, it figures he’d have money,’ Inuyasha thought grumpily. He stepped inside the building and rang the apartment number he had on the piece of paper he was carrying.

“Yes?” answered a regal sounding voice.

“It’s Inuyasha.”

There was a slight pause. “What do you want?” came the testy reply.

“I just came to bring your bags back. You forgot them in the nurse’s office.” Inuyasha waited for a reply and began to get a bit miffed when none was forth coming. ‘What am I doing this for, what a jerk!’ But Inuyasha knew exactly why he was here; he wanted to see Miroku again. He was just about to leave the bags there in the foyer when the buzzer sounded, opening the door. Inuyasha walked in and went into the elevator pushing the button for the fifth floor.

‘I didn’t really see him floating in the air, right? That had to be my imagination.’ Inuyasha couldn’t get that image out of his head, of seeing Miroku gently floating to the floor. He shook his head to stop his crazy thoughts just as the elevator stopped at his floor.

He headed down the hallway and knocked on the door of the apartment and was met with silence. ‘What the hell? He’s gotta be in there, I was just talking to him.’ Inuyasha tried the door, and finding it open, poked his head in. He called out, but still no one answered so he stepped inside. “Hey, I’m leaving your bags here. Do you hear me?”

Inuyasha heard a soft noise off to the left of where he was standing and noticed a half opened door. He walked over feeling a bit aggravated. ‘He had to have heard me, why the hell doesn’t he answer.’ Inuyasha soon stopped going in any further when he noticed two figures on the bed in the room. Two naked figures.

He stood there in shock, not really understanding what he was seeing for a moment until he saw Sesshoumaru look him straight in the eyes. The white haired boy was sitting on the bed with Miroku in front of him, on in his lap. He had one hand over the other boy’s mouth, the other between his legs and was giving Inuyasha a nasty smirk. Miroku looked at Inuyasha with large, frightened eyes, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

‘Holy shit!’ Inuyasha blushed, dropping the bags and running out of the apartment and the building.

“Nn…mmph…unnh…ng…” Miroku struggled to get his face away from his master’s grip. He was absolutely mortified that his friend had seen him in such a position and he began to cry after he heard the door slam.

Sesshoumaru removed his hand from the weeping boy’s mouth. “Why do you cry?” he asked jealously.

“Why…why did you do that?” Miroku returned with a question of his own.

“I don’t like him and he needs to know you are my property to do with as I please,” Sesshoumaru answered. He couldn’t understand why Miroku liking that other boy was bothering him so much, and it was beginning to get on his nerves. “You need to remember that as well,” he whispered into the pig-tailed boy’s ear as he pushed him onto his hands and knees.

Inuyasha dashed down the stairs with his hand over his mouth. His mind felt like it had gone into shock. ‘He did that on purpose! And Miroku, he looked so scared. There’s no way he wanted to do that.’ Inuyasha stopped running when he made it to the street outside. He turned back towards the building looking up into the darkened window. ‘I can’t stand by and let Miroku go on like this. That guy is some kind of psycho rapist or something. I’ve got to get him away from Sesshoumaru somehow.’
