Chapter 2 – Events Unfolding
Naraku stood silently for awhile then moved towards Inuyasha “I never thought it would end so easily Inuyasha” he touched the hanyou and saw Inuyasha had only the strength to stand “I think I’ll absorb you in your state I should get some power” he chuckled.
Inuyasha’s demon only cared for survival and couldn’t even form words any longer as he growled defensively.
Naraku wrapped his tentacles around the hanyou and pulled him flush to his body, not wanting to draw it out longer than he had to. Inuyasha had no strength to fight back and as he began getting absorbed his demon called his last amount of strength and began to struggle and it was only until he was halfway absorbed that he noticed Naraku stopped. The evil half-breed looked confused “I don’t understand…how are you doing that?”
Inuyasha just growled not understanding him, and Naraku tried to pull back but instead he began getting absorbed by Inuyasha “What!? How!?” he howled struggling to free himself.
The evil hanyou was pulled into the depths of Inuyasha’s soul, jewel fragment and all, his body coursing with power after consuming the almost full jewel. His demon savored the power and kept full control over Inuyasha it smiled wickedly, feeling the power shiver through time and space.
His eyes went gold but the demon side of him kept control, the purple jagged lines on his face smoothed out and his ears moved to the side of his head and were pointed like Sesshomaru’s. His demon ached for blood, sex, food…it needed to satisfy its instincts, he created a cloud of miasma from which he could ride. He flew off sniffing the air searching for anything that would interest him.

Kagome was through the well running to Kaede’s hut not caring if Sango was still there or not “Kaede!” she shouted bursting in.
The old miko raised an eyebrow surprised “yes?”
“I felt him, I felt Inuyasha, we need to go and find him something’s not right!” the girl from the future said loudly.
Kaede stood “we can use horses from the stables, I believe ye Kagome, let us leave.”
~
Miroku sat on Kirara clumsily not daring to touch Sango, he was unsure of what was going on, and no matter how much he hurt he still cared for Sango and would help her. Sango’s mind thought only of Inuyasha as Kirara pushed herself as hard as she could, flying to the western lands, Shippo sat on Miroku’s shoulder quietly contemplating what would happen when they found Inuyasha. He may have acted childish but the kitsune had been around for over forty years, he knew that was young for youkai but in human terms he was old enough to know most of what they said but he wouldn’t let them know that.
Kirara kept her nose peeled sniffing for any sign of Inuyasha knowing what it meant to her mistress, she wished her mistress only happiness and would help as much as possible.
~
Kikyo let her soul collectors carry her in the direction her soul led her, she was just as curious as she was anxious about what she had felt pull her soul.
~
Sesshomaru floated on a cloud as he descended on the spot where he could barely smell his brother ‘Inuyasha…and Naraku!? Why is that treacherous beast here?’ the demon lord looked around as the scent slowly dissipated by the second.
He could sense lingering miasma “what happened here?”
~
Inuyasha stared at his bloody hands and then looked around, he had slaughtered an entire village, men, women children and even animals but his bloodlust remained. He quirked an eyebrow as he sniffed for something to occupy him further he smelled a human female and looked over to a half dead woman crawling as a bloody wound on her shoulder caused her to whimper in pain. From behind her long black hair distracted him as his whole body pulsated “Sango” he growled subconsciously knowing it wasn’t her but his demon side didn’t care as he walked over.
She cried as she turned to see him standing over her, her voice to hoarse to make a sound she just cried harder as he picked her up and took off to the forest.
He set her down on some grass and sniffed her, she was radiating with fear but his mind said Sango as he began stripping her of her shredded kimono. She gasped as she realized what was to come as he undid his haori; she shook her head and let out a whimpered “no!”
He growled as he turned her over lifting her up to meet him as he rammed his long hanyou hood into her, her walls stretched to their limit but still couldn’t compensate his girth. They tore and bled as he pumped into her, the blood only serving as sticky lubrication and the smell only coaxing him on. He let bloodlust take over ramming into her viciously as she cried and gagged at the beating, the blood still poured from her shoulder and soon she passed out and slowly died from the blood loss. Inuyasha came into the corpse and then sniffed smelling her death, he growled and grabbed her by the ribs, his claws digging under the skin. He dislodged himself and threw the corpse against a tree, ignoring the sickening crack of bones, as he dressed not bothering to clean off.
~
Kikyo arrived at the scene on the mountain to see Sesshomaru standing there; she landed softly and looked at him “where’s Inuyasha?”
He looked her over not dignifying her with a response he began walking away, she watched him go and then began examining the area “the Shikon no tama was here, so Naraku must’ve been involved” she called her soul collectors and they lifted her into the sky yet again as she followed the small traces of the jewels power.
~
Kirara roared as she smelt Inuyasha, blood, and death; Miroku held his arm to his nose and turned Shippo away as they flew over the village, Sango gasped seeing the sight and was glad Kirei was asleep even though she may have been to young to understand.
The landed lightly and hopped from the fire cat “what happened?” whispered Sango sadly.
Kirara mewed and Sango looked to the now small fire cat “Inuyasha was here?”
The cat nodded in response and Miroku swallowed hard “was he k-killed?”
Kirara shook her head and Sango eyes softened ‘thank kami!’ seeing her relief Miroku looked away as Shippo sniffed “I smell Inuyasha nearby!”
Sango perked up “where!?”
He pointed to the tree line “his scent is still fresh!”
Sango ran as fast as she could being careful with Kirei, they broke through the tree line Miroku looking carefully as they saw the violated and mutilated corpse below a tree. Shippo ignored it and ran on sniffing carefully towards the sound of running water, as the neared a small stream they saw a red figure hunched over the bank gulping water.
“Inuyasha” Sango whispered.
The demon shot up and looked at her and everyone gasped seeing his new appearance, he growled loudly but didn’t move, he then stopped suddenly and sniffed the air. Sango saw this and pulled Kirei to her chest “Inuyasha what have you done!?”
Before they could blink he was an inch from Sango, she shook but tried to control her fear. Inuyasha sniffed her and then the infant, he could smell her on the infant so he figured it was hers, and he knew somewhere in his mind that this woman belonged to him.
‘Sango!’ his mind whispered.
He’s body pulsated and his eyes rolled back in his head, as he fell forward he turned back into a hanyou before hitting the ground. Sango handed Kirei to Miroku and knelt down “Inuyasha!”
The monk held the baby cautiously and stared at it, he detested it on some level but refused to hurt Sango so he held it, and looked away as she hugged the hanyou’s unconscious body.
~
Kagome and Kaede rode all day but only made it a quarter of the way they were going; they settled at a small town and spent the night at an inn. They ate in silence not really hungry but they ate all the same, they didn’t really talk not knowing what was to be said about Kagome’s sudden urgency to find Inuyasha.
~
Sango held Kirei carefully as she walked next to Kirara who carried Inuyasha’s unconscious body; Miroku followed carrying Shippo as the Kitsune slept quietly. The monk tried to put together what he had seen just hours ago ‘what happened in that village? Did Inuyasha do it? What do we do now?’ and as the question kept coming he kept worrying more and more.
Sango looked up at the sky “we should make camp for the night or we’ll have no energy for tomorrow.”
Miroku was brought from thought and nodded to her in agreement, he set Shippo down with Kirara as he pulled Inuyasha off the cat and laid him down cautiously. Kirara transformed and curled up next to Shippo as Sango laid Kirei next to Inuyasha warily and then began helping the monk make a fire.
Once the fire was going the two sat still awake, and Miroku turned to Sango “are you going to stay with him now?”
Sango looked at the monk sadly “yes, I’m sorry…I truly wanted to marry you, but now, I guess I do love Inuyasha now…I don’t know what else to say besides sorry.”
He looked away from her fighting the urge to cry, “Do you still love me?”
She swallowed “I don’t know…truthfully I think I still might harbor some feelings for you.”
“Then why,” he began “why not be with me? You still can.”
She sighed “Miroku please don’t, I don’t want to have to go through anymore and I know I hurt you but I can’t do anything more…I need Inuyasha and he needs me, we fell in love out of necessity…but now I think I finally am fully aware of how much I truly love him.”
Miroku hid his eyes with his bangs and didn’t try to talk to her anymore he didn’t know what else to say, Sango stood and went to Inuyasha’s side she laid down with him and held Kirei close as she laid her head on her hanyou lover. Miroku stood and walked away deciding he would rather sleep alone and cold then see them together.
~
As day broke and the dew dripped from the leaves, Kikyo floated along calmly feeling out the jewels power, she had ignored the scene of the village and its corpses. She figured it was the doing of Naraku and decided she needed to know what was going on more than she needed to inspect the village, so she kept moving.
~
Sesshomaru was back with Rin and Jaken deciding he’d figure things out in due time no point in rushing into the unknown, “Rin, wake up were leaving” he said and the girl sprung up and was at his side in a flash.
“Yes Sesshomaru-sama” she added as Jaken followed close behind complaining already.
~
Kagome and Kaede were on the road again following the young miko’s instincts; they had yet to speak more on the subject. As the day progressed Kagome started breathing more heavily, “He’s near Kaede.”
The old miko nodded to Kagome and they got down from the horses and Kagome closed her eyes “he’s moving towards us and…I can sense the jewel…”
Kaede looked ahead and almost gasped as she made out the shapes in the distance, “It’s the others!”
Kagome’s heart skipped as she saw Inuyasha on Kirara but she had to hold back anger as she saw Sango and her child, and the demon slayer was holding the unconscious hanyou’s hand.
Kagome bit back her anger and waved to them and Miroku waved back shouting “Kagome, Kaede what are you doing here?”
They tied their horses to a nearby tree waiting for the others to get closer and when in range Kagome ran to Inuyasha and grabbed him “Inuyasha…what happened to you?”
Miroku helped Kaede sit down as Sango tried to ignore Kagome pawing Inuyasha and laying him down, Shippo and Kirara sat next to Kaede as the monk went to get fire wood, Sango positioned herself and Kirei on the opposite side of Inuyasha’s sleeping form ignoring Kagome’s glare.
Kaede looked to Sango “What happened with Inuyasha, where did ye find him?”
Sango looked to the old Miko and told her all that happened up to the point when they found him “…he had transformed into a full demon but he was…different, he looked like Sesshomaru almost.”
Kaede looked deep in thought “I don’t sense anything from him…”
Kagome interrupted “I see a jewel shard in him, a big one…like the one Naraku had…”
Miroku came back with firewood and had overheard them “do you think Naraku is using Inuyasha?”
Sango nodded “that must be it, Inuyasha would never do that to the villagers we saw, it must be Naraku’s doing!”
“So quick to blame” came a voice, and Kikyo stepped from the woods “but what could he have done to make Inuyasha kill all those villagers or transform him so I wonder?”
No one moved unsure of what the dead miko wanted, Sango spoke first “why are you here?”
Kikyo looked at her and the child in her hands “you coupled with a demon?”
“I did” Sango stated, “The child belongs to Inuyasha and myself.”
Kikyo’s eyes widened slightly then looked to the others “is this true!?”
Kaede nodded “yes my dear sister, but what exactly happened is still a mystery Sango as yet to reveal all that happened.”
Kagome glared at the demon slayer “since we’re all here you might as well tell us the full story.”
Sango sighed “ok…I guess u deserve at least that much…” she told the first part of her story again up to where she left off before “…but then I started going to him more often even for the smallest thing…”
~Flashback~
Inuyasha sat in the tree near the well Sango was on the branch also talking with him, “do you know what’s going on?”
He looked at her and shook his head “what do you mean?”
“With Kagome she’s been gone awhile,” said the demon slayer.
He shook his head again “no, she just said something about tests again…”
Sango looked into his eyes “do you still feel alone?”
“Keh” came his only reply and he looked away not wanting to admit it aloud but hoping beyond hope she would come to him.
And she did sliding along the branch she hugged him as best she could “I do.”
He wanted to smile but stopped himself knowing she was sad but she comforted him now also after the weeks she kept coming to him. He hugged back slightly something he normally wouldn’t do; she looked up at him and swallowed hard when their lips nearly met. They sat there staring into one another’s eyes feeling their hot breath mingle, Sango swallowed again “Inuyasha?”
“Hmm?” he answered half aware of what they were close to doing.
“Are you…are we…” she said softly, her eyes closing slightly, as her thoughts were lost she whispered, “going to kiss?”
“D-do you want me to…umm…to kiss you?” he asked hesitantly trying to focus.
She swallowed again “I-I don’t know…” but before they said anymore they both leaned in wanting, needing contact of any kind and at the moment they sought to forget what their lives were truly like.
The kiss was unsure, awkward, but yet soft and knowing. They both were inexperienced and did the best they could from what they had seen or heard, Inuyasha having kissed before held a slight advantage and he deepened the kiss. His tongue entering her mouth the innocence was replaced by curiosity as she followed his lead and used her soft tongue to play with his rough one. But the kiss was interrupted as the hanyou pulled away “Sango I can’t…” he began.
She opened her heavy lids “Inuyasha I need you now please don’t reject me…” tears came to her eyes “I don’t want to be alone.”
His body and mind were debating on the best course of action ‘will it make us whole? Will we no longer be lonely?’
He shook his head ‘but Kagome…Kikyo…and Sango has Miroku, they’re to be married…’
He looked at her pleading eyes and she grabbed him “Inuyasha…I need…please I need this, you…I need to be held.”
Inuyasha nodded “I’ll hold you but please, we can’t go further…”
Sango nodded “ok I understand” she then snuggled into him and cried softly “I’m sorry…”
He shook his head “it’s ok, but I don’t know what to do or feel about this…we need to think…we’re friends, everything would change.”
Sango nodded into his chest “ok for now, we’ll think it over…I trust you.”
He held her close to him ‘what are we thinking we can’t go any further…it’s not right.’
They left it at that and for months that’s as far as it had gone but she went to him every chance she got, they held each other and didn’t feel as lonely. But the day that changed it all, the day she saw Kohaku and felt all the despair and pain come flooding back, when she was alone she tried to cut herself but Inuyasha had been there, he was always there.
She cried as he held her, the knife long since dropped on the ground, he held back his emotions but felt relief that he could help her let hers flow. And then it happened the kiss that would be their downfall, it was so passionate, brutal, needy, loving, just so many emotions bundled into the kiss that neither knew who did what first but this was it in their minds they could feel what they were about to do was right yet wrong, superfluous but considered necessary, there was every emotion that Sango let flow but Inuyasha hid released in the kiss that what came next was inevitable.
Naraku stood silently for awhile then moved towards Inuyasha “I never thought it would end so easily Inuyasha” he touched the hanyou and saw Inuyasha had only the strength to stand “I think I’ll absorb you in your state I should get some power” he chuckled.
