Chapter Two: The Application and Interview

Chapter Two: The application and interview.

After preparing himself, Inuyasha entered the building and went to the reception desk. A lovely Youkai woman was sitting at her computer and gave him a bright smile.

“May I help you?”

“Yes, I understand that you are hiring?” Inuyasha asked, in his most professional tone.

“Yes, let me get you an application and computer aptitude test.”

Inuyasha took a seat with the paperwork she provided, he was comfortable with the test and had no problems with the online application and typing skills test. A young human woman came out and shook his hand.

“Inuyasha, I’m Kagura, director of HR. Would you follow me please?” The woman walked back to an office and Inuyasha followed.

Kagura took a seat behind a large cherry desk. She proceeded to ask Inuyasha some general questions, and then got more specific.

“So what are you looking for in a job right now?” She crossed her legs and held her fingers in a peak.

“Well, I take classes on occasion and I need something that will work around my school schedule. I’m also looking for better compensation then I am receiving now.” He replied levelly.

“Well, we start out at 8.00 an hour, so that seems to be a help, and as soon as you know your schedule for school we would be glad to accommodate you. The project we are hiring for now is cheapline.com. Are you familiar with the company?”

Inuyasha nodded his head, on his trips to Tim’s house he had seen the former Star Wars actor doing commercials for the discount travel company. “Yes, I am. Are you looking for sales or customer service?”

Kagura smiled at his perception. “Customer service, I’d like to get you out onto the floor to listen to a few calls, would you follow me please?”

Kagura led the way through a magnetic lock door and onto an intimidating call floor, she had a phone in one hand and Inuyasha’s paperwork in the other. She sat him down next to another hanyou, this one a dragon, who was gently typing as she spoke to a customer.

“When Kiesha finishes this call, jack in with her to listen to the next one. I’m going to see about scheduling you a second interview.” Kagura said, she looked like it would not be an issue.

The hanyou, Keisha looked at Inuyasha as he jacked into her phone. “Are you from Greenville?”

“No, I’m from Carmichaels, you?”

“Born and raised in Greenville, sad to say. This job isn’t so bad, you have to deal with angry customers, but otherwise not bad. You desperate for work?”

Inuyasha fidgeted, “I wouldn’t say desperate, but I REALLY want something else. How long have you worked here?”

Keisha ticked off on her claws as she thought. “Five months, the pay isn’t bad, nor are the benefits. I like it, and there’s a little room for advancement. Cheapline wants to bring the Air Exchange Service to our office, a big raise and more training, but marketable experience. If you go to air es, you learn Amadeus and Sabre, two of the biggest GDS systems in the world.”

The more he heard the better Inuyasha felt about this job, when Keisha got her call, he listened and watched closely. The computer basically told you what to say on the calls, and it seemed very straight forward. Kagura returned just as Keisha’s call was ending.

“Do you want to come in the same time next week for your second interview?” She looked hopeful.

“Definitely. I’d be happy to be here, what time next week?” As Inuyasha got the particulars from Kagura, he looked around to determine the dress code, business casual, well he could do that.

*The Next Day at Ace*

“…so I go in on Tuesday for my second interview. It seems like it will be nice, and some advancement opportunity as well, I think I’ll like it.” Inuyasha explained to Tim as he was on his way out the door from another day of grueling slave labor. Tim smiled brightly, confirming his own intellect.

“I told you to go up there, just don’t forget us poor people when you’re rolling in the dough.”

Inuyasha laughed and bid Tim and Karen goodbye as he left. When he got home his answering machine was blinking. He pushed the play button and heard the one voice he never again wanted to hear. ‘Kikyo…’

DUN DUN DUN… dramatic reverb…. Guess who’s coming to dinner. Well, I know it has only been a few hours but my fingers were itching to write more, so I did. Let me know what you think. I don’t care if you hate it, if you took the time to read PLEASE review.

Thank You,
Holly.
