Etched in skin-2

She stared at her image through the steam of her bath in the mirror. Etched in skin were the marks of every one of their encounters, not once had their been one without scars. Intricately adorning her body were the remnants of not only her sin but his as well, raised welts of skin forever carved into her.Tonight would be no different and the thought sent her insides reeling. As she finished dressing a knock hit her door, clad in uniform was one of his retainers holding a letter in his hand. Glaring at the man she snatched the piece of parchment and slammed the door in his face. Staring at the neatly folded piece of paper she glanced over at the window before tearing the seal, and opening the letter.
He silently watched her as she stalked out of the field, interest peaked he made a note to keep watch on the emotional girl. Finally making it out of the field tears began to line the corners of her eyes, stopping for a moment she composed herself and made her way back to the village. Once there she was greeted by the disgustingly familiar faces, the awful stench that clung to the dank village and her clothes. Drudging through the dirt road her mind couldn’t help but to wander to the soft smile that danced across his lips. She grinned to herself as she headed home, entering her disposition dropped at the sight of her would-be husband. He smirk at her as she was told to have a seat. Throughout the visit her stomach grew taught with aggravation, the lecherous looks, the subtle touches, and the constant talk of marriage was getting on her last nerve. Finally leaving with arrangements said and well on their way of being done, she lay on her futon staring blankly ahead at the ceiling of the hut. Knowing tomorrow wouldn’t be any different sent waves of anger down her body. Knowing that her impending fate was but a dead weight dragging her down toward misery. She silently threw the covers off and sauntered out the hut off toward the field. Never venturing out at night, for fear of being mauled to death by some vicious animal or worse some wandering demon out for a thrill.Nevertheless she enjoyed the silence and took her time as she went toward the field. To her surprise he wasn’t anywhere in sight, taking advantage of his absence she hesitantly walked over to his usual spot. Pivoting she leaned against the tree and let the bark scratch her back as she slid down to the ground to sit. Tilting her head back she closed her eyes and let her mind wander Smirking he soundlessly stepped out from the gloom of the shadows.
