Chapter 2

Here you go guys. I think I might need a better title or maybe a better description. doesn't look like too many are interested in it. Oh well, it doesn't really matter anyway as long as someone reads it. Thanks to all who did.

Part 2

His eyes opened to a dimly lit room. At first he thought it was another one of those run down cheap motels he usually stayed in but as his blurry eyes adjusted he could tell it wasn’t. After a few minutes of confusion he remembered the night before and the gift that angel had given him. He smiled to himself as he looked around for her but didn’t see her anywhere in the room. With a frown he dressed quickly hoping maybe she was just in the living room or something. As he entered he found the place deathly quiet. She was no where to be found. ‘Maybe she didn’t want to say goodbye.’ He thought. It would definitely fit her profile. She was the shy, sweet sentimental type after all. It pinched his heart to think that she wouldn’t want to see him again after what they shared but then it was probably the best. He would probably end up hurting her anyway. It was best he kept to himself and not worry about others. This time was hard though. She was special. Too bad that jerk she lived with couldn’t see it. He went into the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror.

Not too bad, nothing a little splash of water wouldn’t take care of. He picked up the mouth wash and poured some in the cap. With a quick shot avoiding contact with his lips he put the mint flavored liquid in his mouth and swished it around a bit then spit it out. He splashed water on his face and used his wet finger to rub his teeth some since his tooth brush was in his pack on the bike. Once his face was dried and he had run his fingers through his un-ruly mane, he stepped out into the living room and found he was disappointed yet again that she wasn’t standing there smiling at him. Shaking his head, he walked out the door and to his bike determined to drive off and forget about her. To his surprised he found a note taped to the windshield of his bike.

"Hey, sorry for the disappearing act but I thought it would be best. You don’t seem like the type that likes sappy goodbyes and since I’m pretty much as sappy as they get it might have been ugly. Oh, not saying I know what type of guy you are or that I’m placing you in some category of guy types it’s just, well hard to explain really. Anyway, I’m glad I met you last night. It was unbelievable and more then I could have ever dreamed of.

I would like to say that yeah we can see each other again next time you are by this way but I can’t promise that will happen. Like I told you last night, I’m not going to be here. Where I’ll be I’m not sure yet. I guess I’ll just let the road take me where it may. I guess if fate has it planned for us to cross paths again then I guess I can say see you again sometime and have to be happy with that even though in my heart I know there is a slim chance of it. Ok so I’m getting sappy on you but hey that is how I am. Take care of yourself and again thank you for the most incredible night of my life. I’ll never forget you and you will always have a piece of my heart no one else will be able to touch."

Kagome

He just stared at the note. ‘Wasn’t it the guy who usually kissed then ran?’ He asked himself still not fully understanding it. He felt dejected and used in a way. Just thinking about it was confusing him even more. He shook his head and started to crumple the note but something in his heart twisted and he just couldn’t throw away that last little piece of her. Grudgingly he folded it neatly and stuffed it in the breast pocket inside his leather jacket then threw his leg over the bike to leave.

“So you’re the one.” He heard a man say from behind him. He turned around with a scowl.

“The one what?” He asked cautiously as he stood back up and brought his leg back over so he could stand to face the guy incase he was going to start something. The guy was young, probably about the girl’s age. He had sandy blonde hair and deep brown eyes. Most girls would find his boyish good looks attractive. Most guys would think he was gay.

“The one she gave it up to last night.” The guy said flatly. “I thought....” He started to say with a slight frown on his face when another man’s voice called from across the street.

“Oh Hojo, I see that young man is still there. How convenient.” The other said as he came trotting across the street in a fluffy white bath robe and pink bunny slippers. Inuyasha had to raise his eyebrows at that. “I’m Jakotsu but everyone calls me Jak.” The guy offered his hand which Inuyasha shook tensely. “My lover here is Hojo.” The guy smiled at him as his eyes ran up and down his body giving Inuyasha the willies.

“So what is it you two wanted?” He asked as he leaned against his bike. The roughness in his voice seemed to snap Jak out of his gaze.

“Oh yes, silly me. Anyway Kags was by really early this morning to drop off the keys to the house. She said she was leaving. Do you know anything about it?” Jak asked with a wave of his hand like he was talking about the weather.

“No should I?” Inuyasha asked with a guarded attitude. Hojo frowned at him and narrowed his eyes.

“Did you talk her into this? She isn’t ready to take off like that out of blue.” He snapped at Inuyasha who stood up with an angry glare.

“What the hell are you accusing me of? I just met her last night and she invited me home with her. You got a problem with it, take it up with her. I got things to do.” He snarled back and turned to get on his bike.

“No, no wait.” Jak pleaded and ran up grabbing his arm. Inuyasha looked at the hands on his arm and then up at the girly man with a growl in his throat. Jak jumped back shaking at the feral look in the silver haired man’s eyes. “I’m sure Hojo didn’t mean to upset you. I know she has been planning this for some time but it was so sudden. I thought that maybe you were considering taking her with you but evidently you didn’t know about it. She headed for her day job at the truck stop on the highway and then she was going to get a ride from a trucker and leave for good. I just wanted to make sure you knew that was her plan incase you had feelings for her.” Jak finished quickly. Inuyasha scowled at him.

“And this information affects me how?” He snorted and swung his leg over his bike. The two men hung their heads disappointed. Hojo glanced at him angrily once again before turning on his heal and storming off. Inuyasha watched the young man leave feeling a bit guilty but wasn’t sure why. It usually didn’t bother him to be gruff with someone who was getting in his face about something he wasn’t involved in.

“Don’t be angry. She didn’t want us to know about you but it was kind of hard to miss with all the screaming and stuff last night.” Jak got a far off look in his eyes but then cleared his throat and smiled sheepishly. “You see I’m probably the closest thing to a girl friend she has ever had. She’s a really special person you know and I just didn’t want her to be doing something stupid on impulse.”

“So you think being with me would be stupid.” Inuyasha snarled feeling like he was being judged yet again for just being himself. Jak looked at him surprised.

“Oh no that isn’t what I meant. I was hoping she was going with you. I know I can’t stop her from leaving. It’s been a long time coming but I do worry about her safety. I would just die if I picked up the paper sometime in the future to see her name plastered all over it as being murdered or something.” Jak’s eyes misted over slightly before he seemed to shove his feelings aside. “Well I can tell you’re a busy man. I’ll let you go. Nice meeting you.” Jak said as he strolled back across the street with a swing of his hips. Inuyasha cringed just watching him but his mind went back to Kagome. He pulled the paper from his pocket and read it once again before putting it back. With a shake of his head he started his bike and drove off down the road.

He wasn’t sure how long he had been setting there waiting. When he came to the freeway he saw the truck stop and thought it wouldn’t hurt to top off his tank before taking off. Then he thought it wouldn’t hurt to have some coffee and maybe some breakfast before leaving. He spotted her right away and thought better of it but couldn’t resist asking one of the other waitresses when Kagome got off. It wasn’t all that long and for the life of him he didn’t know why he was still setting here. Just something told him that she needed him to be there. So he stayed.

Finally after what seemed like eternity she came toward the glass front doors. Her eyes looked sad and her mouth was held in a flat line. He knew she was trying to control her emotions so she didn’t make a scene. She was wearing a pair of jeans that fight her nicely and a matching jean jacket with a yellow back pack tossed over one shoulder. She was just as beautiful as the night before and it made his heart skip a beat just looking at her. He held back a chuckle as she walked out toward the parking lot with out even noticing him and he couldn’t resist sneaking up behind her.

She ‘eeped’ as strong arms wrapped around her. “Do you really think I’m so insensitive that I wouldn’t want to say goodbye?” His hot breath blew against her neck making her shiver. She wanted to melt into his embrace but knew it wasn’t what a guy like him would want. So she just shook her head and turned in his arms to hug him.

“No, I was afraid I would start crying is all.” She leaned back and looked up at him with a bright smile. “It’s ok, you didn’t have to come all the way here to say that.” She hugged him again. “How did you find out where I was?” She asked.

“Your girly man neighbor Jak thought I should know.” Inuyasha replied as he pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. “He was worried about you.” She giggled.

“Yeah, he’s the closest to a....” she started.

“A girlfriend you have.” Inuyasha finished for her. She looked at him in surprise. “That’s what Jak said.” He confirmed making her giggle again. He liked her laugh and her smile. He knew he could watch her like this for ever if given the chance. With that thought he now understood why he waited for her. “Are you sure this is what you want Kagome. To just leave out of the blue like this?” He asked seriously. She blinked and looked around as if nervous.

“Yeah, I always told myself that if I found someone else I wanted over Kouga that it would be time to leave. With him I couldn’t live in the same town and stay away from him. He would find me and make me move back even though he doesn’t want me.” She said sadly but then she smiled. “And besides I get to see more of the world this way right?” She tried to smile brightly but it just didn’t reach her eyes.

“Then come with me.” He said suddenly. She closed her mouth and stared at him.

“I don’t what to put you out.” She said hesitantly.

“You aren’t. Do you have a destination in mind?” He asked as he held onto her shoulders to keep her from turning from him.

“Well no but....”

“Then there isn’t a problem. I have some business in LA and then I can do what ever. No obligations what so ever.” He felt like he was pleading but hell he really did want her to be with him. “I won’t even expect you to sleep with me or anything.” He blurted out making her raise an eyebrow.

“So you’re not asking me so you can have a piece of ass when ever you want it?” She asked with a bit of acid in her voice. He shook his head.

“No, I just don’t want to see anything happen to you.” He replied seriously. She looked up into his eyes looking for the truth. She didn’t want to go from a relationship like the one with Kouga into another one where it was all sex.

“So you won’t bug me about sex?” She asked.

“I didn’t say I wouldn’t ask for it, I said I wouldn’t expect it.” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows. She giggled and shook her head.

“What have I got to lose?” She smiled at him as he took her bag. ‘My heart.’ her mind whispered back as she became lost in his golden eyes. Impulsively he took her face in his hands and kissed her tenderly then rested his forehead on hers.

“I’ll make sure you get to where ever you want to go.” He promised then walked her over to his bike.

“I trust you Inuyasha.” She said as she took her seat behind him on the bike and wrapped her arms around his waist. He turned and grinned at her over his shoulder before pulling out and setting off on their new adventure together.
