Awe, well last chapter was a bit rushed wasn’t it?

STORY ONE, part 2

Kagome awoke with a sharp pain jolting down her arm, her gaze crawled to the source, she flinched at the sight; her arm had been cut open. The blood was crusted, but still bleeding slowly, testifying she had been there for a while. Most of it covered her arm like a gruesome paint.

Her vision was blurry, probably due to losing quite a bit of blood, but slowly her bleary eyes fell onto the grinning demon before her.

The dim light glinted off his fangs menacingly, causing a shiver to course down her spine.

“Who the fuck are you?” She asked in a rasped voice.

Baku’s grin never left his face as his gaze drifted in the opposite direction.
“Just simply, Baku, the one who brought the spirit detectives down and devoured the only female fighter of the team.” He stated.
Kagome stared at him a moment trying to register his words, the slight haze her mind was in slowed down her thought process.

“Yeah, right, look I have had a fucked day, and nothing you say is going to scare me.” Kagome said as if stating the weather, after what she saw today, her insides had become numb nothing hurt anymore, her heart had been ripped out of her chest, torn to shreds and stomped on for the second time, and the last time.

The boisterous laughter rung through out the small, dark room.
“Ah, so it is true, you were in love with the detective!” He caught the flinch his words had caused, and if even possible, his grin grew wider.

“No, I made a mistake; you are in love with Raizen’s heir!” Baku chuckled, this was just too good, the girl was still so innocent. Even after her heart was beaten and broken, she still loved the half demon with all of what was left.

He came towards her, revealing his features. He was around 7 feet tall, a lean frame and long black hair that reached his lower back.
He was over all a handsome demon, most likely he lured his victims most of the time.

As he leaned forward, his breathe ghosted across her neck sending unpleasant shivers to run through her body.
“Don’t worry little priestess, he feels the same...” Leaning back he watched in amusement as her eyes held disbelief, and shock.

“No…Your wrong…I, I saw him…” Kagome shook her head in disbelief.

Baku grabbed her chin and turned it sharply in his direction.
“Oh, yes. I wouldn’t lie, especially when it brings such a delectable reaction, such as this.” He leaned forward and licked her jaw line.

“I must say, nothing tastes as wonderful as you, my dear.” He whispered against her mouth.
“My plans are just beginning.”

Yusuke ignored Kurama’s glare and continued to search for any signs of Kagome’s energy. So far he had no luck.
“Fuck!” Yusuke shouted.

Kurama felt slight sympathy for the naive boy. If only he had figured it out sooner, all of this could have been avoided, but Yusuke being the thick headed boy he is doesn’t figure out things until the last minute, when it is too late.

Yusuke’s fists were clenched as he gave a strong right hook to the nearest solid object, which happened to be a poor defenseless brick wall.

“I should have known!” The detective screamed.

“Yes, you should have, but it is too late to do fix your mistakes, all we can do is try to find her as fast as we can.” Kurama had an impatient under tone to his voice as he glanced toward Hiei, whom was searching with the Jagan.

“Has anyone ever thought about checking the room above the dorms, I mean it’s only used for storage, and it is most likely a place we would over look.” Kuwabara stated. All eyes turned to the human, thinking back, no one had checked it. Everything had gone down hill so fast no one had really thought to.

Yusuke, taking this information ran in the direction of the storage room, not paying any mind that his demon traits were beginning to surface.

Baku starred expectantly at the only way in to the room they occupied.
She had yet to find out exactly where it was they were, and it unnerved her. With the lack of light and shadows blanketing most everything, she had no clue as to where they were.
Slowly the demon stood and brushed him-self off.
He began to saunter over in her direction.

Gripping her slender neck in his large hand he grinned.
“How does it feel to be so helpless? So weak? Unable to use your born advantage of purification?”

She spat at him, giving him her answer. He retorted with a fisted hand landing harshly against her cheek.
Her lip split upon the impact and her cheek became red.

She scowled, flinching when he squeezed her neck tighter.
“I have…been…in…worse…situations…” She choked out between breaths.
Baku laughed, the sound resonating through the room, but his mirthful chuckling was cut short by the door exploding and launching into the room.

In the entry was none other than Yusuke, markings visible, and hair tousled.
“A bit late aren’t we? And I went through all the trouble of waiting.”

Yusuke ignored the Baku’s comment and everything else, but Kagome.
Her clothes were still mostly intact and she looked between scared, angry and some other undefined emotion.
Her arms were bound by rope, but the main thing that caught his attention was her slowly bleeding arm, split lip and slightly red and swollen cheek.
Baku said nothing as the toushin looked over his work.

He felt delight when the half demon’s anger rose.
Yusuke made to attack the bastard who dared to lay a finger on what he dubbed his, but Kurama’s restraining grip prevented that.

“Yusuke, if you charge into the fight you are giving him what he wants…and I will not hesitate to put you on the sidelines if you cause this situation to fall anymore out of our favor then it is…” Kurama’s calm icy voice washed over him, bringing him back to his current state.
Yusuke didn’t even look at the fox, knowing he would find nothing, but the way Kurama’s frail human nails grew to sharp steel claws revealed how he felt.

Baku said nothing as he took this all in, running a large clawed hand over Kagome’s chest he gave a squeeze to one of her large breasts.

“Is this how you wished to touch her? Tell me, do the three demons lapdogs of Reikai all have eyes for the same female?” Baku grinned wider as the three demons responded to is taunting.

Kagome tried to wriggle away from Baku’s wandering hands, but the appendages just fallowed her movements.

“I personally can’t say you have bad taste, seeing as she is a feisty one…Though I can tell none of you have made a move, since she is still pure…” A flash of something crossed the demon’s eyes.

“Maybe I should rectify that.”

Yusuke saw red at his comment, there was no way in hell or back he would allow the bastard to do anything of the sort.
Prying out of Kurama’s grasp, he charged at the demon fist raised and charged.

Feeling the solid impact caused the toushin to feel great delight.
Baku was thrown back against a wall, causing a bit of debris.
Laughter was heard, filling the room.

Yusuke growled, why the fuck was the bastard laughing?

“So quick to temper, I will have fun breaking you.”

Leaping away from the damage he seemingly materialized right next to the detective, but before he could lay a finger upon the half demon, the thorny vine of Kurama’s whip was wrapped around his wrist.

The red head stood deceptively calm, despite his boiling anger of using their teammate’s safety against them.

Kagome was getting frustrated with how helpless she was at the moment; there wasn’t much she could do with her powers warded off.
Something was also off.

She had the feeling that Baku knew he was going to lose, but she didn’t understand why.
Why did he keep taunting them?

Her answer came as Baku was sliced in half and his grating laugh filled the room.

Kurama stared at the grinning corpse, why the demon was smiling even when he lost was a mystery. He hadn’t even been that strong.

He was cut from his thoughts when Kagome’s scream tore through the room. His eyes widened as he watched as she convulsed and her blood veins began to visibly show.

Something was moving inside them, and he had a slight clue.

“What the hell is wrong with her?” Yusuke screamed as Kagome bucked against invisible restraints.

“He planted a seed in her blood stream, you maybe familiar with it, I used it to kill Karasu, what you may not know is it has many forms.”

“Don’t just stand there Kurama get it out of her!” Yusuke shouted.

“Yusuke, There isn’t much I can do, once it is planted the plant has a mind of its own, the only possible person who can stop it is Kagome herself.”

Yusuke growled loudly, he hated feeling helpless, and right now he was just that.
He couldn’t save Kagome.

Just like he wasn’t able to save Keiko.

Quickly untying Kagome he let her fall into his arms.

Kurama watched as the Toushin fell to his knees with Kagome cradled in his arms as she tried to fight the plants effects.

One of her small hands fisted the Yusuke’s shirt.
“I-I…Sorry…” Her small hand tightened as she gave one last gasp before the plant finished its job successfully.

No one said anything, no one moved.

It was to have been a simple mission, but they had wound up losing a life, all because of misunderstandings and bottled feelings.

A lesson learned a hard one at that.
