Chapter 02: Return to the Past
Dawn's light pierced the darkness of the morning sky, illuminating all of Tokyo. A cold breeze caused Kagome to shiver and stir. Finaly unable to withstand the cold anylonger, she rose from her bed.
"Ahh... Inuyasha, what are you doing here!" she bellowed as her eyes took focus. Sitting atop her desk, was the half demon, Inuyasha. Behind him, a steady, chilled, morning breeze flew in.
"Wha da'ya think. I came to get you," he barked in response.
"Don't sneak into my room like that! I'm going to have breakfast and take a shower..." Kagome trailed off, as she headed for the door.
"Fine, just be quick about it."
After a talk with Sota, and a short while later, Kagome was packed and ready to go. The two crossed the well passageway as they did dozens of times before, returning to the fuedal era.
"Hey Sango, hey Miroku..." Kagome flagged her comrads down from afar.
"Hello Kagome," Sango replied.
"Ah, Kagome, you have returned." Miroku's friendly gesture was accompanied by a small fox demon climbing aboard his left shoulder. "Hey Kagome!" Shippo spoke with the most enthusiasm.
"What are you so happy about... Let's get going already." Inuyasha impatiently marched ahead.
"Would it kill you to have a little more patience?" Kagome spoked annoyed. After exchanging a short greeting and idle banter of recent events, the crew set out passed edo. Later...
"Kagome, I'm hungry..." the smallest of the group said.
"Hm, we have been traveling a while. I guess we can stop for lunch."
"Feh, weaklings. I could go all day without stopping for food."
"Inuyasha, he's just a kid. Besides, I'm a little hungry too." Kagome glared back at Inuyasha.
"Kagome's right. We should take a brake incase a demon attacks," Miroku offered, while setting himself upon a rock. Sango soon followed, lowering her weapon and wiping her brow. Naturally, Kirara curled into a ball in the grass beside her companion and began napping. Inuyasha had been clearly out-voted.
"You guys too? Fine, we'll stop for lunch. But then we get to the road!" he commanded, as if he were incharge.
"I'll get some firewood. Shippo, do you want to come along?"
"Sure Kagome," the enthusiastic youth replied, running to catch up with the ebony haired teen.
"Hm, I guess I'll get some water. Kirara..."
"Mew?" the small cat replied, following after the demon slayer.
Without a moment to waste, the selfish half demon quickly headed for Kagome's pack, hoping to score early dibbs on lunch. But as he dug, something else caught his interest. A rolled magazine with adult content. "What the hell is this?" he asked blankly.
"Let me see that." Miroku headed over, looking through the magazine alongside Inuyasha.
The others returned, only to find the men looking at obscene pictures, both women infuriated, while the younger demons stared on in curiosity.
"Inuyasha, sit boy!"
"Pervert!" Sango called, as she left a pink palm print across his face.
Both men fell to the ground, before rubbing their wounds. Inuyasha was the first to counter. "What was that for? You're the big pervert with this in your bag!"
"It's not mine!" Kagome hollered back.
"Then why do you have it?" he taunted, challenging the younger female.
"Ugh! that's it, SIT BOY!" she yelled once more. Inuyasha plumeted to the ground, creating a small crated around his body. Quickly taking the magazine, she returned it to her bag.
"What was that about?" Shippo asked innocently.
Turning red as a beat, she attempted to lie, "Oh, it's nothing..."
