---------------------

“What the fuck did you do to her, Sesshoumaru?” Kouga growled out, moving to grab the unconscious miko from Sesshoumau’s lap.

Sesshoumaru was trying to stay coherent, but it was difficult since the miko had fainted face first into his lap. He was not sure to be disgusted, but he was sporting an erection that if the ookami prince caught, he would never hear the end of it. He blamed it on karma.

‘Hai! This Sesshoumaru has redeemed himself with this incident,’ he said and mentally cursed the mischievous entity behind his current situation.

Sesshoumaru pulled the raven haired miko up and slid his jacket off to cover her. Already the bouncers were making their way up to the stage.

“Did you hear me, bastard? What. The. Fuck. Did. You. Do?” Kouga yelled.

“Yamete! This Sesshoumaru did nothing to Inu Yasha’s miko wench. She merely fainted,” Sesshoumaru gritted out, his patience stretched far beyond its limits.

He could not take anymore inanity from Kouga or his current environment, and his throbbing member would not obey his will to make it calm down. Sesshoumaru though managed to still keep his facial expressions in check.

“Ka- Kagome?” Kouga’s face fell into shock, his anger immediately wiped away.

“Sir, please hand her over to us. We will take care of her,” one of the bouncers said.

Sesshoumaru complied and said, “When she awakens, she can find my business card within. Please have her call me. And also, she will need to have my coat dry cleaned.”

The bodyguard clearly looked pissed, but nodded and carried her away.

“You’re such an ass! You’ve got tons of money and want her to dry clean your jacket and return it. You’ve sure got a lot of nerve,” Kouga yelled. “That is my Kagome. She doesn’t deserve to be treated that way. She’s the reason we still live you shithead.”

“You will cease insulting this Sesshoumaru,” Sesshoumaru replied coolly, flipping open his cellphone and dialing. “If it were your Kagome as you claim, she would have recognized you, right?”

Kouga harrumphed, crossed his arms, and replied, “Well, I think minus the headband, fur, and armour, plus the fact I am wearing my hair down and much shorter, she wouldn’t recognize her own man after such a long time.”

“Indeed,” Sesshoumaru said coolly, not believing Kouga’s front.

Though the wolf demon did look noticeably different, he still had the same eyes and face with his concealment. He had wondered how Kagome missed it, but then thought how she was practically focused in her routine to notice much. She had looked like she was in a trance while entrancing all the onlookers in the room.

Once the other side picked up, Sesshoumaru said, “Jaken, pull the car around. This Sesshoumaru wishes to depart now.”

The inu lord did not wait for a reply and walked away from Kouga and the American demon lords. The meeting had not been completed, but Sesshoumaru was beyond pissed. He would insist on rescheduling in a place on his own terms. Sure, he had met potential clients, investors, and business partners in restaurants and such, but never in a strip club. Nothing could be accomplished with naked women dancing and rubbing their bodies all over. He had never seen such a lude display in morals.

‘Even the Miko Kagome succumbs to the dirt in society. This Sesshoumaru is highly disappointed.’
The limousine waited for him and Jaken held the door. As Sesshoumaru entered, he flipped open his cellphone and called Kouga.

“What the hell do you want, old dog?” Kouga grouched.

“You will tell Mr. Sevilla and Mr. Lyons that this Sesshoumaru wishes to reschedule a meeting at a more appropriate place and time,” Sesshoumaru stated firmly.

The silver haired taiyoukai could hear Kouga talking to the two foreign lords and then after a few moments, Kouga replied, “They said Monday morning at ten is fine.”

“Acceptable,” Sesshoumaru nodded and snapped the phone shut.

He sunk back into his seat and wondered if the Miko Kagome had awakened yet. He wondered how she would react once told that the jacket covering her was requested to be returned. He also wondered if she would wake up and wonder if it was all just a figment of her imagination.

‘Many questions unanswered. How did she come about to acquiring such a job?’

In requesting that she return his jacket, he could guarantee that he would see her again and schedule a time so he could satiate his curiosity. The last time he remembered seeing her was at the final battle with Naraku. Before that, he had traveled with their group for about a year to train her with other weapons so she could fight to her full potential. Bows and arrows, although effective, were only long range weapons. The taijiya had helped him understand human physiology and even helped in training. A year was not a long time to train, but anything was better than what the miko had before and that was simple karate classes and self taught archery. He had never asked the miko anything, nor did she chat with him and at the time, that was what he wanted.

When the final battled encroached upon them, they had acquired the company of the ookami tribe under Prince Kouga, as well as several other humans and youkai. Naraku had made several more incarnations, including an elemental demon with powers to manipulate minor weather disruptions. The battlefield began clear as swords clashed between the two sides, but gradually became dense with fog. Sesshoumaru remembered how even for himself, it was hard to see the oncoming enemy. Though he effectively cut down many enemies, he was unable to perform Soruuya or Meidou Zangetsuha.

*** FLASHBACK ***

Blood or both ningen and youkai alike filled his nose. The fog was so dense that he often stepped on the fallen bodies as he was unable to see with his superior sight. He felt like a blind man, but still had his other senses on full alert. Off to the side, he could see sparks of red from Inu Yasha’s Hijin Kessou attacks and pink from Kagome’s sword which was continually charged with her spiritual powers.

He decided it was best that he move closer to the two as he knew that in order to defeat Naraku, somehow they would have to collaborate. He could smell that Naraku was only meters away.

When he was close enough to make out the forms of Kagome and Inu Yasha fighting minor youkai, he said, “Come away from there. Naraku is not far and you are wasting your energy on pointless creatures. Come with this Sesshoumaru now.”

“Yeah, yeah. Don’t get your hakamas in a bunch, Fluffy,” Inu Yasha growled and then pulled Kagome to his back.

The two inu brothers, stuck close and advanced quickly through the fog and the fighting.

“Ku, ku, ku, the priestess and her dogs have arrived,” Naraku said, the miasma pouring from him.

Sesshoumaru felt Kagome’s aura surround them, purifying Naraku’s miasma.

“Ah, a few tricks you have learned, Ka- go-me,” Naraku smiled. “No matter, you all will die or become a part of me. It is inevitable.”

“Fuck that shit, Naraku! You’re the one that’s dying today,” Inu Yasha growled, cracking his knuckles.

“I do not think so, Inu Yasha. Die!” Naraku cried out and lashed out with his reptilian tentacles.

Inu Yasha barely avoided them and Kagome charged her sword once more with her powers. Sesshoumaru grabbed Kagome from Inu Yasha’s back and said, “It would be much faster if you are with this Sesshoumaru.”

Kagome dumbly nodded and once she had comfortably situated herself on the demon lord’s back, they attacked Naraku. Sesshoumaru was determined that no matter how many people were around, they would combine the attacks.

‘He must be destroyed at all costs!’

Naraku was merely a vessel for youkai and the tentacles, although he willed them to his whim, once used did not need him to bother focusing on. The bone swords that jutted from his forearms were his close range weapons, so Sesshoumaru slung the miko from his back and she took to purifying the tentacles while Sesshoumaru attacked the evil hanyou head on.

Although Naraku was youkai, he had no sword skills beyond what knowledge he had from Onigumo. And as a bandit Onigumo was a brute with no finesse. Sesshoumaru quickly overcame Naraku and called out to Kagome, “Miko, you are needed here. Let Inu Yasha take over your place.”

Sesshoumaru noticed that Kagome was almost exhausted. If she had been youkai, he could have assisted her by allowing his youki to surround her and give her power, but she was a priestess. As Sesshoumaru effectively held Naraku, Kagome stepped in and placed her hands on Naraku.

“Sesshoumaru, you must let him go now. I can’t keep my power from touching you and I don’t want you to die,” Kagome whispered.

Sesshoumaru heard it and replied, “It does not matter, priestess. He must die at all costs. If this Sesshoumaru passes, it will be honourable.”

He could smell her tears, but also the building of her power as Naraku struggled and tried to escape.

“You will be at peace, Naraku and Onigumo. Yes, I know although you have one body, you are more than just one creature. The Shikon no Tama is no longer your concern,” Kagome said, devoid of any emotion.

It disturbed Sesshoumaru to hear Kagome speak in such a way that was like himself. Under his hands, he could feel Naraku’s body jolt in pain.

“Wha- What? H- How is this possible? I cast away my heart. Ah!!!!!!!!!!! The pain! Make it stop!” Naraku screamed, this body starting to convulse, now surrounded in bright pink.

Sesshoumaru was almost blinded, but kept focus on restraining Naraku. He thought Kagome looks so serene as she purified the hanyou from existence, his body slowly turning to ash under her touch. He saw her pull her necklace from her throat and in her hands, the fragments of the jewels as well as Naraku’s own tainted piece became whole and a content pink.

She turned to him with sadness in her eyes. For defeating such an adversary, he had thought that she would be happy, but she held it the jewel out and softly said, “It is done.”

*** END FLASHBACK ***

Sesshoumaru shook his head. He did not like to dwell on such memories. Although he had been proud of the victory, he had not helped the miko responsible for the final blow after the battle. She had wished that everyone effected by Naraku was either happy or at peace with themselves. It was a noble wish and made him respect Kagome further.

But with the wish, the clay priestess Kikyo had been brought back to life. Sesshoumaru had known before the battle that his brother and Kagome were fairly close. They had minor intimate moments, but did nothing beyond kissing and hugging. He had once ridiculed Inu Yasha for such behaviour, but it did not matter. However, when Inu Yasha discovered that his first love was now alive, he had practically ditched the Shikon Miko.

It was a day after, when he had planned to leave that the kitsune asked where his mother was. He had even offered his assistance in finding her, but she had masked her scent and left no trail. He had assumed she had either disappeared from their lives, or died from either battle or old age, or that she had killed herself. Many women of the time were prone to suicide stemming from their love not being returned. He did not make a conclusion, but after a few days, departed with Rin, Ah- Un, and Jaken to return to the House of the Moon.

Sesshoumaru returned his focus to the window as the limousine approached his home. It was a traditional style Japanese palace. He was often offered by architects to try a modern day mansion, but he did not stomach such display of wealth. He had changed a lot of himself somewhat to fit the times, but still kept some of the old ways. It was the life of what an immortal demon was expected to survive. There was no other choice except death or being sealed away for centuries.

Though Sesshoumaru did not have a headache, he did know what stress was and the events of the day had been trying on him. He rarely slept as youkai did not have to sleep as often as ningen, but tonight was definitely a night he needed to rest. He had a feeling that discovering the Miko Kagome once more would up heave practically everything he had set carefully in his life.
