Through the well
Before going on, I would like to thank InuYaBizkits and inuyashaxkagome for wanting me to update. Also, thanks to Pat, for questioning my fic so it will be better. To explain the reason he came to the door: I'm trying to make a comparison contrast with in this fic. Besides, Kagome's mother is gentle, just like Inuyasha's was. I'm showing how he respects her mother's territory.
“Please be careful, dear.” Kagome and her mother were desperately trying to shut her bag.
“I will, Mom.” Kagome turned on her flashlight and headed out the door. It was almost ten! She and Inuyasha should have just stayed here for the night, but she new he was desperate to find the remaining jewel shards. Inuyasha was already sitting on the well.
“Kagome don’t forget the batteries!” Kagome’s mother hollered at her daughter. Kagome turned to double back.
“I’ll get them. You’re always forgetting something, Kagome.” Inuyasha huffed. He whirled around and sped off like a red dot towards her mother.
“Here you go. Thank you, Inuyasha” Her mother handed him the pack of double A’s.
“Feh.” Inuyasha turned to leave.
“Inuyasha? Please take care of Kagome.” Inuyasha turned back around. Her mother just simply smiled and headed back into the house before Inuyasha could say anything. Besides, what would he have said?
“Here Kagome, let me help you with that.” Back at the well, Kagome was struggling as usual to get her pack into the well. Kagome was sitting on it trying to push it through. Inuyasha reached for the zipper.
“NO! Do you know how long it took my mother and I to shut that?”
“Well, if we take some of the items out, it would fit better into the well!” Inuyasha growled.
“No it wouldn’t!”
“Don’t be stupid, Kagome! It would too!”
“We aren’t going to unzip it!”
Inuyasha sighed. Geez, what is it with women? Inuyasha placed his hands firmly on the bag and gave it a shove. It didn’t budge.
“What do you propose we do now genius?” He asked frustratedly.
“We’ll do it together. 1-2-….3!” Kagome and Inuyasha shoved the bag down the well.
“Whoa! AHH!” and both went down with it. Kagome kept going head first while Inuyasha turned on to his back.
“Ahh! Oof!” Inuyasha landed on the bag, while Kagome landed on him. Kagome sat up straight.
“Inuyasha are you alright?”
“I’d be better if you got off of me, Kagome.” Inuyasha replied through gritted teeth.
“Oh right! Sorry Inuyasha!” Kagome smiled and stepped off to the side so Inuyasha could lift out her pack. She looked up. The stars were heavenly. They were always so bright and clear here.
“You coming or what?” Inuyasha was already out of the well.
“Hey, wait for me!” Kagome scrambled out. She and Inuyasha headed back towards the village. Looking up again she saw mars. It’s still to far away from the moon to eclipse. Maybe in another day or two-
“Ahhh!” Inuyasha hissed in pain. He dropped her bag and put his hand to his mouth. His already long canines began to grow further. He could feel the blood pumping in his veins. What was happening? “Ahh!”
He sniffed the air. He could smell the fear spilling off Kagome.
“Inuyasha? Inuyasha! You’re-you're transforming!” Kagome squealed, backing away. She saw the moonlight glint on his extended claws. Inuyasha fell to the ground. He had never hurt like this when he transformed before.
“Kagome!” His voice was rough. “RRRR……run?” Just like that, the transformation stopped. “What the hell?” He looked down at his claws. They had returned to their usual length.
“Inu…yasha?” Kagome took a step near him. What was going on? Inuyasha turned to face her. She had a fist to her chest. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah…I think so.” He sat up.
“What was that all about?” Kagome asked him.
“How the hell should I know?”
“Well you don’t need to get an attitude with me!” Kagome said angrily. Then she softened her tone. She realized Inuyasha was just as scared as she was. His breathing was quick and she saw a small trace of fear in his eyes.
“Come on, we need to get back to the village.” Inuyasha stood up and took her bag.
“Are you sure you should be moving?” Kagome asked uncertainly.
“I’m not a weak human like you.” Inuyasha said over his shoulder. No you’re not, Kagome thought, but you’re a terrifyingly strong demon. She stayed a few steps behind him, not wanting to get to close.
Inuyasha gripped the strap tighter, and closed his eyes. He had scared Kagome senseless. The smell of fear still flowed from her, not as strong as it had been, but enough to hurt him.
“Ah, Inuyasha! I see you’ve brought Kagome back. What did she bring for us to- hey, what happened?” Miroku looked at Inuyasha. Was he really pale and sweating?
“Kagome? Are you two alright?” Sango asked worriedly.
“Feh.” Inuyasha dropped the bag. “I’m going to get some more wood for the fire.”
“Inuyasha we’ve got enough fire wood-“ Sango began looking at the pile of ten logs.
“Are you sure you should go by yourself?” Kagome asked him.
“I can take care of myself you know! I don’t need a human to watch out for me!” He turned and leapt off into the forest. He knew Kagome was going to tell the others what had happened, and he didn’t want to be there when she did.
