"I have someone to protect."

Digging a boot into the earth while focusing on the silence within his own head, Sesshomaru drew his eyes closed as if by wishing to become purely invisible. A brow lofted in agonizing annoyance as male voices called upon his presence from nearby; it had been his day for training with his father and this friend of their family. Atempting to hold his own against Inutaishou was difficult enough, but to wager in the abilities of Hadrian were hardly considered fair. As shoulders lowered in minor defeat, amber orbs opened and squinted in agravation. He wanted to be left to himself, to be free to do as he so chose. To his dismay, both elders had approached him, their swords drawn prepared for battle.

Using the balance upon his rear leg, Sesshomaru pivoted to become parallel to that of his father, evading the blurr of silver crashing by. Snapping a wrist out to the side then reeling back at an angle as he turned to become parallel to the other side of the elder demon, the young youkai connected his sword to that of Inutaishou; gazing over his shoulder, Sesshomaru parried his second sword in direction of Hadrian who had still been positioned behind the boy. Pushing into the defense, the elder mage blocked with ease and with a free hand released a wind magic which hurled Sesshomaru into a patch of dirt feet away. This displeased the young demon as he peered at Hadrian with a blazing stare while pushing his body from the debris below; it was hardly fair for the male to be using magicks against him. Or atleast the boy would argue as such

"That's unfair and I find it as a cowardice act, Hadrian....sir."

"Young Lord Sesshomaru, I assure you that not all your enemies will fight fair. I find it best that you understand and are able to handle yourself in any situation present. As your father and I have counseled over such beforehand."

A bottom lip furled in an argumentative manner though Sesshomaru held his tongue as he bowed to the elder mage. Flicking way miscellaneous particles which had gathered upon his kimono, the young youkai had prepared himself in a squared off stance ready for another defensive and offensive attack, but was interupted by one of his father's messengers. A refined brow lofted in curiosity as the man slouched forward atempting to cach his breath as swiftly asposibly. Often, the messengers would interrupt something of importance he or Inutaishou had been engaged in for one ridiculous reason or another.

"Lord Inutaishou, war has broken out in the southern regions. The Brothers of Korthol have invaded their capital...their scouts have been spotted in our forests."

"Send word to our warriors. We must not allow them near our own capital or into any of the villages."

"Yes, M'lord."

"My dearest friend, I shall rally my own warriors to help aide in your defense."

"Your contribution is much appreciated, Hadrian."

Squinting with disgust, Sesshomaru sheathed his swords as he ambled towards his elders. He had not cared for the Brothers of Korthol knowing their reputation for bloodshed throughout the northernlands, slaughtering the lives of the mages...the lives of Marzipan's family. Infinite times had the ravenous clan marched onto the lands of her people, endangering her life since she was the heir to their empire. Taking every precaution to prevent himself from befalling a fate which configured Marzipan as something other than an aquaintance was proving to be difficult. More than he cared for.

"I shall go as well, Father."

"My son, this not a game. It is war."

"I am prepared for what may come and the consequence it brings.

"Sesshomaru, have you someone to protect?"

A slender brow arched and fell back into place as honey orbs searched over the young youkai before him. Noticing the growing infatuation with the young mage, Inutaishou was curious whether his offspring's actions had any relevance for his growing affections for the girl. For he and Hadrian, they had their families, clans, and empires to protect; it was almost impossible to conceive that Sesshomaru would engage into any activity that did not purely benefit himself in one way or another.

A warming sensation pierced his cheeks as Sesshomaru glanced briefly away from his father. It was embarrassing being asked such a question; considering Hadrian was offering his own curious stare upon him as well did nothing to ease the situation. Marzipan held much weight in the decisions he made which may directly or indirectly concern or affect her. How could he be honest with his parent if he was faltering in being honest with himself.

"This Sesshomaru has someone to protect."
