CH 1: Chain Broken
Kagome woke up rather rested. A good night’s sleep at home was just what she had needed. She got ready and began to pack her bag to return to feudal era. As she passed by her mirror she stared at her reflection for a while. ‘Does he really only see me as a shard detector?’ Inu Yasha had been being kind to Kagome lately, but then Kikyou had shown up and she had returned to being the wench. ‘I could never be the reincarnation of something so heartless.’
Kagome began to play with the chain that hung around her neck as she often did when in deep thought. Kagome wondered what her mother had been like. She wondered if she had been as kind as the mother she had now. But then why had she been abandoned. Her mom had told her of two women who had come to their door one and gave Kagome to her. She had also said how the chain how had already been around her neck. Mrs. Higurashi had been so happy to accept her because she had no children. Souta had come as a complete surprise years later. She never took off her chain. For some reason it calmed her down, it was as if she had a part of her mother with her. ‘I wonder what happened to my real parents?’
“Oi, are you gonna stop staring at your reflection anytime.” Kagome turned to see Inu Yasha on her window sill. “Trust me you don’t look that great wench.” Kagome sighed and grabbed her bag.
As soon as she got out of the well she was tackled by a bundle of fur. “Kagome, I missed you so much. Do you really have to leave all the time?” Shippou hugged Kagome tight as if he would never let go.
“I’m sorry Shippou, but you know I need to go back every now and then. Don’t worry I’ll always come back to you.” Kagome looked down at the bright eyed little kitsune that had chosen her as his new mother.
“Promise?”
“I promise. Where are Miroku and Sango?”
“Right here.” Kagome turned to see Sango slight flushed, but with a smile on her face. Next to her was Miroku, unconscious with a big bump on his head. She could guess what had happened. “So how long are you going to stay with us this time?”
“Well, actually summer vacation just started so my mom said I could stay for a month.”
“Great, maybe now we can actually find some shards rather then having to wait for you all the time” Inu Yasha grabbed Kagome’s bag and started off in the direction of Kaede’s hut.
“Actually we might start sooner than you think. We got information that there was a small group of demons with a few shards.” Sango informed them. “There’s only one problem.”
“What’s that Sango?”
“They were said to be in the Western Lands.”
“So what’s the problem with that?” Shippou asked. He finally detached himself from Kagome and they all started walking to Kaede’s. Sango dragged the unconscious lecher.
“That means we’ll most likely have to deal with Sesshoumaru,” Kagome answered.
“Feh, I can handle that jerk.”
“Sure you handled him real well last time when he almost killed you and the only reason he didn’t was because he didn’t want to kill you in front of Rin.”
“Stupid wench.”
“Inu Yasha?”
“huh?”
“Osuwari!” Inu Yasha hit the dirt and the gang kept walking without him. He mumbled a few choice curse words and when the spell wore off ran to catch up.

They had entered the Western Lands after three days of travel. Nothing eventful, Miroku was a lecher Sango slapped him, Inu Yasha would insult Kagome and hit Shippou and Kagome would sit him. But at this moment they would have prayed for those care free moments rather than be in the battle they were in.
The battle had started with them facing five demons but their numbers were now down to three. However, Sango had been knocked out cold and Miroku was fighting one of the demons to protect her. Inu Yasha was taking on the other two demons while Kagome and Shippou stood in the back. Kagome fired some arrows but was afraid of hitting Inu Yasha or Miroku.
Inu Yasha got thrown into a tree by the tail of a snake demon. It then went after Kagome since she had the jewel shards. She shot an arrow which glowed blue and split the demon in half. However, while that demon had distracted her another had come from behind. It grabbed her by the neck and Kagome was having trouble breathing.
Inu Yasha pulled himself together and to help Kagome, but was crashed into by Miroku who had been thrown by the demon he was fighting. Finally Miroku let lose his wind tunnel and pulled the demon in, since there was no one else in that direction to get hurt.
They both turned to Kagome to see the demon about to strike.
“Kagome!!” Inu Yasha pushed the monk off of him and ran towards her, but he knew he would not be quick enough.
Kagome closed her eyes awaiting the final blow. ‘I’m sorry mom, Souta, jichan guess I won’t be coming home.’ After a bit Kagome realized that no blow had come and slowly opened her eyes. Her eyes met with blazing gold eyes staring back at her. “Sesshoumaru?”
Inu Yasha couldn’t believe it. Out of nowhere a flash had come and the demon was cut into. He looked at the pieces of the demon that now layed strewn across the ground. When he looked back up he saw Kagome cradled in Sesshoumaru’s arms.
“Let her go Sesshoumaru!”
“I’ll let her go in return for the Tetsusaiga. Unless you do not care for your wench.” He put his hand around Kagome’s throat as the last demon had.
‘I can’t give him the Tetsusaiga. If I do I’ll lose control of my demon blood. But I can’t let him kill Kagome, I need her to find the shards.’ (I know what a jerk, sorry to all the Inu fans) Inu Yasha stood in his battle stance ready to fight.
Kagome regaining her senses started kicked and pushed herself away from Sesshoumaru. He had not expected this so he lost his grip, by tried to grab at her. He grabbed the chain around her neck as she fell away from him. It snapped and Kagome hit the ground.
I blinding light surrounded Kagome and she fainted on the ground. As soon as she had fallen Inu Yasha attacked Sesshoumaru and the two began to battle. Miroku ran to Kagome while carrying Sango. Shippou reached her first and gasped at what he saw. Miroku looked to see what the kitsune was so surprised about and was shocked.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know Shippou.”
Kagome no longer looked exactly like Kagome. Her hair had turned from her raven black to a midnight blue and her ears were slightly pointed. Her skin was lighter and was marked with two blue stripes on either cheek and a purple mark on her forehead that was shaped like a tear drop.
Shippou sniffed at the figure laying in front of them. “She smells kinda like Kagome, but she definitely smells like a demon.”
Their thoughts were interrupted as they heard the clashing of the brother’s swords. Inu Yasha attempted the kaze no kizu, but Sesshoumaru dodged and used his speed to pin his half brother to the ground. Before he was about to strike he saw Rin standing on the sidelines again. ‘She must have escaped Jaken again, that stupid toad.’ “It would seem your life is spared again. Get out of my lands before I run out of mercy.”
Miroku and Shippou looked back down at Kagome as she stirred and her eyes opened. No long a bluish grey, but a brilliant violet. “What happened?” Kagome rubbed her sore neck and noticed her chain was missing. “My chain where is it?” she saw it laying on the ground and looked up at Sesshoumaru. “You bastard you broke it.” Kagome still unaware of her now demon state only knew she was filled with anger. Her eyes glowed red for a moment and she lunged at Sesshoumaru. He was taken off guard and barely dodged. She had managed to scratch him and four thin red lines appeared on his cheek.
Sesshoumaru grabbed her and pinned her to the tree. ‘What happened to her? I know she was human earlier albeit without the foul smell,, but she was definitely human.’ “Sesshoumaru-sama please don’t hurt Kagome-neechan.” Rin ran to Sesshoumaru’s side. He looked down at Rin and then turned to Kagome. “You will get out of my lands.” With that he backed away from her.
Kagome slumped to the ground. Rin ran up to her and hugged her. “Yay Kagome-neechan is okay. Wow, Kagome-neechan has marks like Sesshoumaru-sama.”
“What?”
Miroku, Shippou, Inu Yasha, and the now conscious but confused Sango walked up to her.
“She’s right Kagome-sama, you look like a demon.”
“Rin come.” Rin ran from Kagome’s side and followed Sesshoumaru as he left the scene.
Kagome looked down at her hands and saw claws, she checked her hair and felt her pointed ears. The she did what any girl in her situation would do, she fainted.
