What you wouldn't expect

Chapter 2

A/N: I’m trying to get this story started so bare with me!

Anniya began to pick up speed until she felt that spinning feeling in the pit of her stomach. No one could beat a 'Star runner’, not even the mighty Lord Sesshomaru. She turned around and noticed that a giant white dog was running along-side her, and that Jaken and RIn were behind them on that two headed dragon.

The sun was beginning to set and a cold breeze was picking up. Anniya threw a worried glance back at Rin. Winter was coming, how could such a small human survive in that kind of weather? Half and full demons don't feel the cold that much. But humans do. Humans like Rin, Kohaku, and Sango. She frowned; she wasn't going to think of such things.

The stars were out now, even on earth Anniya was still aware of which star out of billions held her kingdom. It was getting cold fast, she couldn't really feel it, it was more of a sense. Anniya came to a halt and so did Sesshomaru, she watched in awe as he transformed back into his human-like form.

"Why did you stop?” he asked her icily. Anniya snorted and doing so she sounded much like Inuyasha. "You don't use your eyes do you? She's cold, tired, and small. You can't let her continue like this, she needs to rest” she said pointing her thumb in Rin's direction.” Have it your way” he said dangerously and walked away, Jaken was close at his heels.

But Rin slid off the back of the dragon and walked towards Anniya. "I'm cold” she whispered sadly, she wished that she could be like Lord Sesshomaru and not get cold at all.” Sit down Rin" Anniya spoke softly and the child did as told and sat down on the ground. Anniya closed her eyes and began to focus, focus on the palace. She reached out her hand and grasped the air, but when she opened her eyes she had much more than air. She had a coat, a coat that was just big enough for Rin to wear.

Anniya turned back towards Rin and held out the coat. The child was speechless; no one had ever given her something so pretty before.” Thank you” she breathed as she slipped it on. Anniya chuckled "Truth be told it used to be mine, but I have no use for it now. So now it is yours” she said patting the girl on her head.

"I’ll get a fire going" Anniya snapped her finger and a pile of dead and broken branches were quickly at her feet. Rin gasped "Your a witch!” she exclaimed excitedly and Anniya just nodded. Another snapped of her fingers and a blazing fire sat before them "Don't get to close to the flames” she cautioned as Rin scooted closer to the flames.

"Anniya" Rin called out and got a small purring sound that told her the older women was listening. But Rin paused 'It's going to sound silly, she’ll laugh at me' she thought sadly. Anniya, one of her powers being mind reading frowned "Rin, I'm sure what even you have to say isn't silly. I promise that I won't laugh. That’s my word.” she said softly.

Rin shook her head and took in a very long breath before she quickly blurted out "IknowitprobablysoundsreallystupidandsillybutcanIcallyoumama?"She was out of breath. Anniya chuckled "My sisters and I used to do that all the time. Jumble our words together and guess what the other was trying to say, of course you can call me mama” she said with a smile as she embraced the child that reminded her so much of home.

The next day was a bit better. It was still chilly outside and Anniya was forcing Rin to wear her coat.” Mama, it’s not cold out today” she whined but Anniya had grown up with three brothers and four sisters, she wasn't falling for it.” If your hands are icy to the touch, then your wearing that coat, end of dissucion. "She said sternly.

Sesshomaru's ear twitched in their direction trying to see if he'd heard right.’ Did she just call her mother?' he thought to himself. Anniya cleared her throat "Sesshomaru don't know if you've heard but it's very rude to easedrop" Anniya said briskly. But she suddenly stopped. A familiar scent caught her nose "Where close?” he question was directed towards Sesshomaru. "A few miles off" he said as he continued walking.

A village was up ahead and Sango's scent was stronger than ever. But all of a sudden a hanyou stopped them from entering. "What the hell do you want, Sesshomaru?" the stranger growled, his hand gripped the hilt of his sword.” Do not flatter yourself, Inuyasha don't have time to waste on half-breeds like you” he said calmly. A growl surrounded them but the loud part wasn't Inuyasha. It was Anniya, she was now gripping her sound but a scared look from Rin made her stop.

"Inuyasha is it?" she said walking closer to Inuyasha. Anniya held up her hand "You need not your weapon, I mean you no harm. I’m looking for Sango" she said sniffing the air again. Inuyasha frowned "What do you want with Sango?" he questioned. Anniya smiled "It's urgent that I see her, I mean her no harm, and she is very near to my heart. I must see her" Anniya pleaded. It must have worked because Inuyasha began to walk away.


A/N: Well this completes another chapter of my story. As I continue to write this story I will begin to rewrite “Hated but Loved” so watch for it.
