Saved By A Girl

Chapter One

"Move," Yusuke pushed Kuwabara aside in time for the blast to hit him in the chest sending him several feet back. His head slammed into the tree, wood was heard cracking. 'Guess I should have shouted Timber.' He got back on his feet to see Kurama lashing out at the youkai. The whip went through the youkai, leaving it unscathed.

The fox landed on his feet next to the small fire youkai. "I don't think we can harm it. I've never seen anything like this before."

"Hn. Anything can be killed." Hiei jumped towards it katana in hand. He sliced through it, the metal went through like cutting air. "Dammit." The creature swung its claw, swatting the koorime aside.

"This is bullshit, how can he hit us but we can't touch him?" Yusuke fired a shot at the creature. It soared through going out the other side.

"My guess, it's a phantom youkai. Only holy powers and wards can harm it." Kurama explained.

"Great someone call a priest." Yusuke jumped out the way, what a way to spend the night. Him and Keiko had been enjoying a pleasant night at home when Kurama had come banging on the door. A few people had called the local police after being attacked in the local park. Hiei had been sent by Koenma to help the three. They weren't sure where the creature had come from.

Kurama jumped out the way when the youkai sent some kind of breath attack dissolving the swings behind the fox. "This is getting better by the minute."

Kagome looked out her window, staring at the night sky. Yes, she definitely felt that. A strong menacing presence not far from here. The eighteen year old girl glanced at the clock, it was after ten o'clock. What was going on? Should she even care? Of course she did, that's what her main problem was. She cared too much about others.

Taking a deep breath, she pulled her black jeans back on and changed shirts. She hastily slipped on some shoes, almost tripping over Bouyo. "Stupid cat." She snatched her keys off the dresser and dug through her closet. "Where the hell is it? There you are!" Her hand found her bow and arrows. Weapon in hand she ran down the stairs and out the door into the cold night.

"I knew I should have asked for a car." She climbed on the small motorcycle, and cranked it. Not like she could have afforded a car anyways. Having dropped out of school didn't leave many options for a high paying career. The lights came on showing her the way. It felt like it was coming near the park.

She pulled out onto the road, the wind blowing her long black hair. Her heartbeat sped up as she got closer. There was definitely something menacing there. Hopefully no one was in the park this late at night. The bike turned left at the light, running the red light. 'Glad mom doesn't know how I drive this thing.' Her speed picked up. She flipped up the visor on her helmet, it was limiting her vision.

The sign for the park was in view, it was close. Instead of stopping she drove into the park, there it was. Four men were fighting against the thing and losing it seemed. Trees and metal were melted everywhere. She slid to a screeching halt twisting the bike around. Snatching the helmet off her head, she whistled getting the thing's attention. All eyes turned to her, but she was only worried about one. She knew it would come for her.

"The jewel." His eyes got large, "The jewel give it to me." He started to charge.

"Fuck he's fast, no time to aim." She took off once more, putting the bike in motion. She turned down Main Street, headed for somewhere secluded. She could hear it running behind her, it was catching up fast. Oh well she'd have to take it out now. She reached behind her with on hand removing her bow and grabbing an arrow. Time to stop, tires squeeled as she skidded to a stop. Turning around she took aim and released. It soared across the distance slamming into the chest, "Got him." A blast erupted and it was gone. 'That's what he gets for messing up the park.'

She put her bow back and placed the helmet back on her head. She sped off, time to go home.

Hiei and Kurama stood on the building top looking down, watching the girl take off. "Interesting." Kurama kept his eyes on her back until she was out of sight.

"Hn. Pathetic, we should be ashamed."

"Why so? There was no way for us to defeat it. We are lucky someone with holy powers came along." Kurama smiled.

"I don't care, I don't liking being saved by a mere slip of a girl." Hiei leapt off the building to meet Yusuke below.

"What the hell just happened?" He stopped to catch his breath.

Kurama landed on his other side. "As Hiei just put it. We were saved by a mere girl."

"You're telling me that hot girl, killed that thing?"

"Yes Yusuke, she did." Kurama turned in the direction she'd just gone.
