First Encounters
Kagome watched for several minutes before turning to leave. It just wasn't fair, it was all wrong. Watching them two together made her heart ache. She loved him, he loved Kikyo. True over the last year she'd slowly taken up resident in his heart but it wasn't enough. In the end, he'd be with her. Be it in hell or living a life here in the fuedal era. He would never forget about her, not even for an instance. His exact words. Strange how tragedy made love the more sweeter. She walked away leaving Inuyasha hugging Kikyo, neither having noticed her presence.
She walked for several minutes, suddenly feeling enlightened for the first time since she'd realized that she loved the hanyou. Yes, she loved him but he wasn't meant for her. She wasn't meant to be here, this wasn't her home. She'd help destroy Naraku then she'd return to her time. Leaving her friends would be hard but she'd always carry them in her heart.
A cool breeze caused her hair to lift, as she stared up into the night sky. The moon was full, lighting the sky. A night made for lovers, too bad she was alone. A twig snapped behind her and she turned at the sound. Her heart stopped at the sight, a spider youkai was staring at her. At least it looked like it was, was kind of hard for her to tell. It had six eyes on its massive head. The top part almost looked human, chest and all. It had human looking arms but instead of fingers it had pinchers. The bottom looked exactly like a spider, with eight legs. Within one of it's eight arms it was holding some type of box.
It opened it's mouth and spoke. "I was beginning to get hungry after all this running, seems dinner has found me."
Kagome didn't know if Inuyasha would be able to hear her from this distance. He was surely still with Kikyo. She took off, maybe she could make it back to the village. Sango and Miroku might be able to hear her if she screamed. Her legs pumped as fast as they could. She screamed as her feet were yanked out from under her and her bow flew forward. Before she could catch her breath she was being pulled backwards. 'I'm caught by its web.' She tried to yank her feet loose but it held firm. She gave a quick prayer and screamed, "Somebody help me!"
The spider cackled, revealing it's fangs. Kagome could see the poison dripping out and began to struggle even more. There was no way that thing was eating her. She grabbed the web attached to her feet and pulled. It snapped but her feet her bound together. She still couldn't run and it was approaching her fast.
Kagome saw her death slowly approaching her. Then she saw the back of someone's pants and the spider stopped. She looked up to see more black. Black pants, black shirt, black hair, a black hat and black wings. Talk about goth. Whomever it was payed her no attention.
"There you are. We've been looking for you." He spoke. "Did we interrupt your dinner? Don't you know humans are bad for you. One would think you'd have better taste."
Did he just insult her? "Excuse me." She screamed at his back. What a jerk! "I'm sure you youkai taste just like chicken." Wait did he also say WE? Was there someone else with him?
The spider shot webbing forward, the youkai jumped out the way. It would have hit Kagome in the face but she was picked up out of the way. She was deposited on her feet once more. She felt hands on her feet tearing at the webbing, then she was free. She turned around and came face to face with her rescuer. He was a total hunk. The sexy face, the long white hair, up to his cute ears.
"Get out of here girl." He spoke, dismissing her. He left her standing there to help his friend. Kagome watched him interfere in time to keep his friend from being speared by one of the spiders many legs. She spotted her bow and made a run for it. Not wanting to interfere unless she had to, she really didn't want that thing's attention on her again. She really hated spiders.
At taking a better look, she saw that it was a fox and bat youkai. The fox tried to cut through its abdomen with some type of whip. It bounced off unaffected, then Kagome saw why. Underneath its belly was a jewel shard. The fox was hit in the chest the webbing and he fell back. No wonder the spider had been so fast. The bat youkai yelled when one of its legs went into his shoulder. The spider was going to bite him if she didn't do something. Then she got an idea. "Hey you." It turned it's attention to her. She reached in her blouse and pulled out the jar containing her jewel fragment. "I think I have something you might want."
"A jewel fragment, give it to me." It threw the man away and ran for the girl.
She notched an arrow and waited for it. She'd make sure she didn't miss. "Dinner is served." She let the arrow fly, the spider tried to stop in its track but it was too late. The arrow flew across the space seperating them in a pink flash. It hit dead on, impacting on the chest. It turned to ash in a matter of seconds, the shard fell to the ground along with the box it had been carrying. She walked up to the shard ignoring the box. It turned to a bright pink color the moment it touched her skin.
The fox tore his way out of the webbing and made his way over to his friend. "Are you okay?"
"No, my pride has been terribly wounded." He looked over to the small girl, grinning. He stood up ignoring the pain in his shoulder.
Kagome turned to the box finally. She couldn't sense what was inside but picked it up anyways. She walked over to the fox and reached her hands out, "Here, thanks for your help." He took it from her but didn't say anything. More youkai without manners, this era seemed full of them.
"KAGOME!!!"
She turned when she heard Inuyasha's voice. He was a little too late to save her but oh well. She saw him make it into the clearing, he automatically drew Tetsusaiga out. She ran up to him and placed her hand on his arm. "It's okay. Let's head back to the village, I'm sure Sango and Miroku are worried by now."
"Fine but you have some explaining to do. I thought I heard you scream." He started yelling at her. "If you are okay, next time don't go yelling for no reason."
"I'm sorry if I interrupted your date with Kikyo." She shouted back at him, forgeting that they had an audience.
"I wasn't with Kikyo." He tried to lie about it.
"Don't lie to me, I saw you with my own eyes." She started walking off and on second thought. "SIT!"
Thud! "What the hell did you do that for? Get back here you bitch." Inuyasha started cursing. "Just wait till I get out of this hole."
The two onlookers merely watched until the girl was out of view and the hanyou ran after her.
