Chapter One

"Hiraikotsu," the huge boomerrang went flying severing a large tenacle that was snaking it's way towards Kagome. Sango caugt it on it's return trip. The final battle against Naraku was underway. Those left standing were already exhausted and heartbroken. They had exterminated Mouryoumaru an hour before, trying to get to the heart that was inside. Before anyone could react at the exposed baby that would finally destroy the evil hanyou, it was gone. Once again absorbed back into Naraku's body. Everyone had tracked down the scent of their enemy. Sesshomaru, Kouga, the group and even Kikyo had shown up with Kahaku at her side. It would all end today. Suprisingly, the battle begun not far from where Naraku had been created. (Which is near the well if I'm correct)

Kahaku had been the first to fall in battle. After taking back his heart, Naraku went to collect the four shards that would complete the jewel. Thousands of tenacles had surrounded the hanyou striking out in all directions, piercing those that didn't move fast enough. Kikyo was able to purify those that came for her. More than a dozen had impaled the young boy killing him instantly. Sango had called out from her position in the air on Kirara. Seeing the young boy go down and the tenacle withdraw with the shard that had been keeping him alive. No one had time to grieve for him as Naraku sent out another wave.

The hanyou was tired of the games and plots, today he would complete the jewel and become a full demon. Kouga was the next to die. His death would always be imprinted in the mind of the young miko from the future. Naraku had played Inuyasha's emotions against him. Several tenacles dripping miasma went for Kikyo, more than even she could handle. Inuyasha seeing that his first love was in danger had leapt to her defense leaving Kagome alone with just Shippo for protection. At seeing the girl alone, Naraku sent several towards her while keeping Inuyasha busy keeping Kikyo alive. (Well I'm not sure if you'd call her alive.) Kouga saw what was happening and used the power of the shards in his legs to get to her in time. In saving her he was pierced in the back causing him to be launched into the air. Kagome had been pushed out the way landing with a thud on her backside. She watched in horror as Kouga was torn apart and his jewel shards removed.

"Kouga!!!" She shot an arrow trying to free him. The arrow hit causing him to be released only to fall to the ground lifeless. Tears fell down her cheeks for the wolf. Kagome tried to run to him but a tenacle struck out knocking her to the ground once more. She felt something around her neck. It was removing the bottle in which she kept her jewel fragment. It was yanked from her, to be reunited with the others.

Inuyasha turned in time to see Kagome lose the last jewel shard. Naraku cackled as the jewel shard was placed in his body. It became whole blinding everyone with its light. It was eerily dark and pulsed with an evil aura. Kagome got to her feet in time to save her own life this time. Sango flew down to pick her friend up and out of harm's way. Sesshomaru was the next to go. He was confident that even with the complete jewel Naraku was no match for him. Naraku had discovered that Tensiega protected the life of it's Lord. Sesshomaru stared in disbelieve as his sword was grabbed and thrown several feet away leaving him without a weapon. Still he fought on meaning to kill the hanyou. Unlike the others he wasn't killed then tossed aside. Naraku used the power of the jewel to pull the Lord of the Western Lands into his body, merging making him more powerful.

Inuyasha screamed when he saw his brother being absorbed. True they had never been on good terms. Deep down Inuyasha had felt some love for his only family. He jumped towards Naraku without regard for anything else. A tenacle shot out catching him in the chest. Everyone screamed at one time, "Inuyasha."

A thick layer of miasma was sent out in a cloud surrounding the area. Kirara started shrieking, choking on the poison. Miroku, Sango, Kagome and Shippo tried to hold on as the huge cat bucked almost throwing them off. The smoke was getting into their lungs and eyes making seeing and breathing difficult. Naraku chose to strike out towards the cat. Kirara howled as she was pierced through the neck and chest. Screams could be heard but Inuyasha nor Kikyo could see what was happening behind the thick fog.

"Kagome," Inuyasha struck out tearing apart the appendage holding him up. He was released and he fell to the ground. Kikyo fired a shot purifying the area around the two. "Damn it, I can't see them."

"Inuyasha we must kill him now. If I can get to the jewel and use it to purify his evil soul while you destroy his body." Kikyo released an arrow destoying a large portion of Naraku's body. Inuyasha unleased the full power of the Tetsusaiga, destroying all the tenacles and the rest of Naraku leaving only his torso and head. The undead miko spotted the jewel imbedded in his chest and aimed for it. She released her arrow putting all her power into that one shot. It made a hissing sound as it cut through the air towards it target. Inuyasha's heart stopped as he watched Naraku open his mouth to release a spear made of pure miasma. It was going for Kikyo meaning to take her along with him in death. He threw down his fang to jump infront of her as it impacted. They both gasped as it passed through Inuyasha's heart and her chest.

Naraku felt the purfication arrow hit the jewel. Unlike the time when Kagome had shot the jewel causing it to shatter, this time the energy from the arrow surged into the shikon. He screamed as it turned to a pure pink color and erupted inside his chest. "No, this can't be." Naraku cursed the heavens as he was slowly destroyed by the woman that had also caused his creation. "Kikyo." Her name passed his lips as he turned to dust.

The miasma and dust cleared leaving the carnage caused by the hanyou behind. Kikyo held Inuyasha in her arms. Anger, sorrow, sadness and mostly regret filled her looking at his sleeping face. A moan caused her to look up.

Sango focused her eyes. The last thing she remembered was the thick miasma coming for them then Kirara crying out. Tears fell as she spotted her feline companion lying a few feet away. Blood was everywhere, she knew in her heart that the cat was dead. Not far from the large form was the monk and kit. They two had been pierced by Naraku's tenacles killing them instantly. Her heart lurched seeing the man she loved laying in death's cold embrace. Tears streamed down her face unchecked at their loss. Kikyo's voice interrupted her.

"Girl, take my reincarnation and get out of here. She lives it would seem." Kikyo who still held Inuyasha pointed. Sango turned to see Kagome not far away, injured but still breathing. "The power of the jewel will soon cease to exist. Only lingering effects from its magic still fill the air. You two are the only ones left for I too will soon pass on. She needs to be returned to her era while there is still time."

"But, what about everyone else. My brother, Inuyasha, Mir-," her voice broke. Tears were forming once more.

"Take the girl back through the well to her time then you will have to come back and see to the dead. Hurry time is short." Kikyo closed her eyes for the final time. Her body fell to the side bringing the dead hanyou with her.

Sango got up, her body was bruised but somehow she had survived without any major injuries. Kagome moaned on the ground from pain. There was a large gash along her right thigh, it was bleeding badly. Sango turned to look around one last time. She knew Kagome would want something to remember them by. Tetsusaiga was spotted not far from her, so was Tenseiga. Not knowing why she grabbed both swords and placed them in her belt beside her own. Then she picked up the girl she'd had come to love as her own sister.

It took about fifteen minutes for her to reach the well with Kagome in tow. The dark empty well was pulsating as if giving warning of its impeding closure. Sango knew she couldn't just throw her in hoping she'd make it through. All she needed was Kagome to go through and slowly bleed to death on the other side. Her family wouldn't know that she was wounded waiting for them in the well. Sango sighed holding down the grief that threatened to consume her and leapt over the side. Her body was consumed by a strange light. Her feet made contact causing her to almost fall from the weight she was carrying. She looked up to see a roof of some sort blocking the sun. 'I must be in Kagome's world,' She thought to herself.

A ladder was placed inside, which she used to lift herself out. The sun blinded her as she emerged in the open. A young boy was standing in the yard. He stopped in his tracks when he saw her. Souta screamed for his mom the instance he saw the strange girl carrying his sister.

Mrs. Higurashi ran out the main house. There in the courtyard a strange girl held her little girl, bloody. "What happened? Who are you?"

"I am Sango." Mrs. Higurashi nodded recognizing the name. "We fought Naraku. It's over but Kagome and I are the only ones that survived I'm afraid." A single tear slid down her face. She handed the two swords to the little boy she knew to be Souta. "Here give these to her when she wakes up. And tell her that I will miss her. I have to get back before the well seals up for good." At the boy's nod she turned to leave. Giving one last look at her friend, knowing she'd be safe now. Sango jumped into the well to return to those they'd lost. A gasp escaped her lips when nothing happened. The roof was still overhead meaning she was still in Kagome's time. Her heart sank realizing that she'd been too slow, the magic had disappeared on the otherside. Neither girl could go back now to say their goodbyes.

Please read and review. Sorry if it was kind of short.
