Inuyasha's Accident
A/N: Refer to Important notes. Oh and I dont know the name of Kagome's parents, but I named them Oassa and Darcare.
"INUYASHA!!! WHERE ARE YOU? SIT!!!" Kagome bellowed at the top of her lungs for the millionth time in her life. Sango and Miroku stared at her as if she had lost her 500 years in the future mind. Inuyasha wasn't even anywhere near them. He had been moody earlier, and Kagome unforgiving. The two had argued and fussed, the ending result and 'sit' count had gotten up to 14 and it was barely mid day. They turned toward the western woods when they heard a yell, tree branches snapping, and a sickening thud and crack. Kagome stood still and paled slightly when Inuyasha didn't emerge from the woods moments later, yelling and screaming.
Sango stared at Miroku for a moment and they both took off running, leaving Kagome behind in the village. There was no telling what shape Inuyasha was in, and from the number of branches that had snapped, he was high in the air and fell really hard. Sango and Miroku both broke down twigs and branches and gasped when they found their friend about 100 yards away from the village. Blood was oozing slowly from Inuyasha's ears and his breathing was shallow. Miroku touched Inuyasha's chest gently and the hanyou hitched with pain, red tears falling from his golden eyes. His pupils were fully dialated and the corners of his eyes were blood red, a telltale sign that immense trauma occured upon impact.
"When Kagome sat Inuyasha, he fell extremely hard." Miroku strained his neck to the left to see a large flat rock underneath the hanyou that was rapidly turning red. Jagged and squishy bits of pink flowed with the red and upon inspection, Miroku felt faint to discover that the bits were skull and brain pieces. The monk pulled on Sango's shoulder and pointed at the brain matter, making her gag and turn away. Being an exterminator, she had seen brain before, and even popped open a few skulls in her time. That wasn't the point. The fact that a friend of hers, someone who was doing nothing wrong to be violently struck down that way made her sick to her stomach.
"Is he dead?" Sango whispered, wiping away the few slivers of vomit that eased out of her mouth. She gagged again when Miroku gingerly turned Inuyasha's head to display the almost fist sized hole at the base of his skull. The coppery smell of blood seemed to fill the woods and color the sky orange. Miroku looked painfully at Sango. Even though he was a lecherous, at-times deceitful monk, he cared to no end about his friends. Angry did not describe his wrath; hurt did not eptiomize his pain. To see someone who was so strong and posessed so much power fallen, by the unfeeling cruel hand of a child at that, was nearly too much to bear.
Just then, Kagome came barrelling through the woods. Miroku stood protectively in front of Inuyasha and Sango and unwrapped his beads on his hand. He held his hand out at her, making the girl stop dead in her tracks. "By the Gods, Kagome, I will suck you in this wind tunnel if you come closer." Kagome was shocked at Miroku's tone, and his threat. She had never heard the easygoing monk snap, unless the topic of discussion was his legacy or Naraku.
"But I'm a miko." The weak answer was best response her selfish mind could concoct. Her cheek and feelings then stung by the unanticipated physical and emotional slaps delivered by Sango.
"What are you, some kind of bitch or something?!! Are your eyes working? I mean, can you not see that Inuyasha is HURT? Probably fatally at that! And what did you sit him for? Just because he didnt come running when you yelled for him?" Sango finished her tirade and hatefully glared Kagome as she rubbed her reddening open palm. Ripping off her skirt and wadding it into a ball, she unstrapped Hirakotsu and with the assistance of Miroku eased the badly wounded hanyou onto the boomerang. Inuyasha made no movement or sound other than shallow breathing and occasional invountary yips of pain. When he was safely and steadily secured, she and Miroku carefully lifted him and eased out of the forest with Kagome staring at them silently. Sango shot Kagome another look, a look of dissappointment and contempt.
'Darcare! Please! Don't leave me!'
Voices shot through Kagome's mind. Visions of her father staring at her mother, the same way Sango stared at her moments ago filled her mind. Looking up at the bright sun, the spectrum filled her eyes and stung them, bringing welcoming pain. Lowering her head and rubbing her eyes, and the visions now gone, she stared after Miroku and Sango, who appeared as dots in the distance. She turned and looked at the huge blood and brain covered rock that Inuyasha had fallen on. "My God," She thought with a panicked voice. "What have I done to you? What have I done to me?" She took off running toward Kaede's hut, where Sango and Miroku were headed.
