1.A Trip for Icecream
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or any of its characters. Nor do I own any of the characters from Yuyu Hakusho. But I am sure like many other females, would love to get my hands on Hiei or Kurama. Sadly it isn't going to happen so I'll keep dreaming.
Chapter One
Kagome was trailing behind her brother wishing he'd slow down. The icecream shop wasn't going anywhere for pete's sake. Early this morning her mother had made her promise to take Souta to the local shopping center. It was summer vacation finally and she'd been trying to enjoy it. She spotted a long red formal dress on display in a shop window and sighed. It had been over a year since she'd returned home for good. She'd just celebrated her nineteenth birtday months before but felt like thirty. After the defeat of Naraku, Inuyasha had confessed his love for her pulling her into his arms. He had loved her but felt the need to fulfill his promise to Kikyo. Kagome didn't want to understand but she did. Kikyo had died because of her love for Inuyasha. She was dead and Kagome was alive. He felt he had to join her finally now that the one responsible for her death was punished. She gave her friend one last embrace and returned home. She couldn't find it in herself to stay and watch as he descended into hell. Already having said goodbye to Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kaede it was time for her to go home. Kikyo had used the completed jewel to destroy Naraku's soul. No more going back for the girl from the future. Kagome had said goodbye to the past and started looking to her future. Inuyasha had loved her it was enough. She held onto that knowledge and it made her stronger.
During the last two months of her stay in the feudal era, old Kaede had taught her to use her miko powers to sense demons. Inuyasha had been used as the guinea pig which he had complained about. She knew she still needed a lot of work and she practiced every morning. Upon returning home she had tried to concentrate locating any demons that may be near by. She almost panicked with all the demonic aura's she'd felt.
"Kagome," she turned to see Keiko running over to her. They had met the first week of college in chemisty, one of the classes Kagome sucked at. They had been assigned as lab partners and became fast friends but never saw much of each other outside of the classroom. The girl had a cheerful disposition that grabbed a person's attention.
"Hi Keiko," the girl stopped before her. She was wearing a blue sundress making Kagome regret her decision on a simple pair of blue jeans and tank top. The day was beautiful yet she still couldn't bring herself to enjoy it.
"Nice to see you outside of school finally." Keiko smiled at the girl she had befriended at school. She had taken an instant liking to her despite the fact that the girl seemed depressed most of the time. She had always suspected boyfriend problems but Kagome never spoke of a guy. But she could understand Yusuke had only recently returned to her from his threes years in the Makai. He'd been home for only two months.
"Come on Kagome, you are slower than an old woman." Souta was waving his hands turning to take off towards the icecream parlor he spotted not far away.
"Sorry, but I got to get going. Maybe we can catch up some other time?" Kagome watched her brother leave her behind. She was going to box his ears when she caught up to him.
"No problem, I need to catch up with my boyfriend and his friends. Gotta find them first though. Seeya later Kagome." Keiko ran to find Yusuke and the others.
By the time Kagome caught up with her brother he was already in line ordering what he wanted so she decided to stand in the courtyard and wait for him. The place was crowded for a monday. She ran her eyes over all the tables hoping to spot an empty one so she could take a seat. They all seemed to be packed with people. A loud annoying laugh filled the air bringing her head around to land on a group of people sitting at a table not far from her. Seven people were crowded around it, four male and three female. She scanned the females first, one was leaning back casually smoking, she looked to be in her early twenties. The next had blue hair, odd, and her aura was unlike anything she'd seen before. She moved to the last girl that had blue hair also, Kagome caught her breath. She instantly recognized her as being a demon but nothing threatening surrounded her aura. If anything it sent out a calming peaceful almost loving feeling. Ok, time for the males. She started with the one with the loud mouth, wow he was ugly. He had orange hair that was totally out of style. Could anyone say makeover time. He was human but had a strong aura. The next guy had black hair that was slicked back revealing a cute face. Kagome couldn't tell at first what he was so opened her powers up a tad more knowing that if he sensed her prying he'd probably be pissed. She had to dig a little deeper then found what she was looking for; human but there was a small trace of demonic power there.
Yusuke was laughing at something Shizuru had said when he felt his skin begin to crawl. As if someone was running a finger lightly against his skin. "What the hell?"
Kurama and Hiei looked over at Yusuke at his outburst. "What is wrong Yusuke?" The fox asked.
"I don't know," Yusuke stood up and glanced around.
Kagome stopped her inspection when he stood up. She saw the last two that she hadn't gotten to yet and swung her eyes to them. One of them had long red hair, the other short spiky black hair. Their backs were turned to her so she couldn't see their faces. 'Had he felt me?'
Yusuke's eyes kept scanning the area. He knew he wasn't imagining things. "Somethings here guys. I don't know what it is but I felt it."
Kurama and Hiei stood, they knew if Yusuke sensed something then they had reason to worry. Kagome watched the other two stand up along with their friend. Her miko powers were still reaching out towards the group. She felt it when the two with their backs turned let their aura be known obviously scanning the area for the threat their friend had felt. She felt them as it slammed into her. Her breath caught and she reigned her powers back hoping they hadn't been able to pinpoint it. What she had felt was unbelievable not even Sesshomaru had let out that kind of power. For a minute she thought she had went unnoticed until the one with the slick backed hair landed his eyes on her.
Yusuke knew the others were looking wanting to know what he'd felt. He was about to give up when he spotted her. She was standing not far from them almost hidden from his view. He met her eyes and knew he'd found it. He couldn't explain it but his nerves jumped on end reacting to her. She was beautiful was his first thought. Her eyes held a wisdom that enthralled him to no end.
Kurama saw his friend pause and followed his gaze turning to see her standing there. She was leaning against a pole sideways, only her head was turned in their direction. He felt his heart jump when he caught a look at her face. She was very pretty, but thats not what drew him. Her aura radiated a bright pink, one of purity. Her long hair fell to the side and he had the urge to run his fingers through it.
Hiei saw her also. He knew why the kitsune and Yusuke suddenly sent off the scent of arousal. She was a sight to behold even he had to admit. Not that he would ever be interested in a ningen. Her eyes left Yusuke's to glance at him and the fox. She had beautiful blue eyes that showed a strong soul.
Kagome caught his eyes and felt the urge to run. It looked like he was sizing her up like she was an opponent. After several seconds she felt the other two watching her and turned in their direction. Once again she felt them reaching out towards her inspecting her. The one in the middle with long red hair was very cute. He had the most intense green eyes she'd ever seen. The smaller one was scowling at her, his red eyes flashing. She suddenly became overwhelmed feeling all of them probing at her at one time. She sent out a wave of purifaction sending the demonic auras rushing back towards them.
Yusuke jumped back when he felt it, a burst of pure energy, causing him to stumble on his chair. He landed flat on his ass causing Kuwabara to burst out laughing. "What's the matter Yurameshi scared of a girl?"
Kagome felt anger coming from the two demons, 'Serves em right trying to suffocate me like that.' She heard Souta calling for her. He was waving his hands once again beckoning for her to follow. She gave them one more glance to see that they were still staring at her. She gave them her back and walked away hoping they wouldn't decide to attack her in public.
"Interesting," this came from Kurama. "I didn't know anyone with her abilities still existed."
"Who?" This came from Yukina. She had felt the last surge of energy.
"Hnn. She is gone now so it doesn't matter. We aren't likely to run into her again." Hiei sat back down in his chair and noticed that the fox was still staring off in the direction the girl had went. "You can sit down now Kurama."
"Of course," the fox sat down beside his best friend but his thoughts remained on the strange girl that had just left.
