Kouga sighed and leaned against the wall. He was waiting for his girlfriend, Kagura, to get out of class so that he could give her a lift home. However, when her class let out, he did not see her in the swarm of students that flowed from the classroom. He shrugged. She probably skipped and decided to go to the student center. Turning on his heel, he began to walk down the hall and pushed open the door that lead to the warm sunshine.

He made the short journey and finally walked into the student center that rested in the center of the campus. Looking around, he saw Kagura sitting at a table. He took in a deep breath and began to walk towards her. However, he suddenly stopped when a young man with long silver hair walked over to her and bent down to kiss her.

His jaw dropped and he shook his head. That bitch was cheating on him. He gritted his teeth and was about to move from his hiding place when a feminine voice stopped him in his tracks.

“I knew it. I knew you were cheating on me, you bastard.” A young woman with long dark hair said.

The silver haired young man quickly stood up and looked down at the angry female. “Kagome, I am a man of many talents. Monogamy is not one of them.” He said, shrugging his shoulders.

Kagura laughed. “Did you honestly expect a man like Sesshomaru Taisho to stay with you? My, what a little twit.” She sneered.

“And you are a little whore.” Kouga said, stepping up to the small group. Now, they commanded the entire center’s attention.

Kagura’s face paled. “K-kouga. What are you doing here?” She asked, weakly. She gulped and then looked over at Sesshomaru, but his eyes were still on his girlfriend, who had tears streaming down her face.

“Well, I was going to meet my girlfriend after her class ended, but to my surprise, she was not in class. Then, I thought that perhaps she decided to get something to eat and went to the student center, and here you are. However, I did not expect to find you with another guy, who has a girlfriend of his own, nor did I think that you would cheat on me.” He said, his blue eyes narrowing in disgust.

“I wasn’t cheating, Kouga. Honest.” Kagura cried, her red eyes desperate. She knew that Sesshomaru was in love with his girlfriend, but needed to sample other women every now and then to appease his large sexual appetite. Kouga chuckled. He was just about to point that out himself. He saw that the guy, Sesshomaru, was watching his girlfriend carefully. Finally, he reached out and said, “Kagome, we must talk about this.”

Kagome shook her head and jerked backwards, out of his reach. “No, you liar. I don’t want to talk to you about anything. Just leave me the hell alone. Go back to your whore.” She said, her tears coming faster.

“Let me drive you home, Kagome. We can settle this matter calmly. There is no need for such theatrics.” Sesshomaru admonished.

Kagome barked out a laugh? “And there was no need to cheat on me, asshole. No, I’m done. We’re done.” She said, her small body shaking in anger.

Sesshomaru stepped back as though he had been slapped. He glanced over at Kagura, who was staring at Kouga.

Kagura slowly got up and made her way over to Kouga. “I’m sorry, Kouga. It won’t happen again.” She said, her voice small.

“You’re right. It won’t happen again because you will be a free woman. I don’t want to be with you anymore. Consider us over.” Kouga said, his eyes trained on Kagome.

Kagura’s mouth fell open and she shook her head. She reached out to touch her boyfriend, but he moved out of reach. Kouga walked over to Kagome and placed his hand on her shoulder.

“Well, we are going to let the both of you get back to whatever you were doing before we interrupted you.” He said, his hand moving to the middle of Kagome’s back. “Come on, I’ll drive you home.”

Kagome sniffled and nodded. She glared over at her ex-boyfriend and then allowed Kouga to lead her out of the student center. She was lost in thought, but then felt Kouga stop walking. She snapped to attention and watched as Kouga pulled out his keys and unlock the passenger door.

Kouga looked at Kagome and blinked. Now that he had a good look at her, she was stunning. With long dark hair, flawless skin, dark eyes and long, thick eyelashes, he could not understand why her boyfriend would want someone who looked like Kagura when he had this little vixen.

Kagome took in a deep breath and found that the guy before her, Kouga, was staring at her. She shifted from one foot to the other and nervously asked, “Ummm, is there something wrong with me that you find fascinating?”

Kouga snapped out of his thoughts and laughed. “Actually, there is. You should never frown. You are way too pretty to frown.” He said, his eyes dancing as he watched the young woman blush.

Kagome shook her head sadly. “You are wrong. I am not pretty. If I was, he would not have cheated on me.” She whispered.

Kouga sighed and gently pushed her into his car. He closed the door and quickly walked to the driver’s side and got in. He started the engine and pulled out of his space. As they drove away, neither noticed a pair of amber and red eyes watching them leave.

Kouga drove for several minutes, and finally, Kagome’s curiosity got the better of her. “Where are we going?” She asked, softly.

Kouga shrugged. “I thought that you might enjoy taking a drive with me. I know that we don’t know each other, but I am hoping that will change.” He said.

Kagome sighed and looked out the window. She hoped that he would not make any moves on her. Right now, all she needed was a friend.

And a friend was what she got. Kouga took Kagome to a lake that he knew of and they sat for hours talking. Both agreed that their former lovers were fools and that they were lucky to be rid of those foolish enough to screw around on them.

Soon, they became inseparable. Kouga began to wait for Kagome after her classes and would often carry her books. They would occasionally bump into Kagura and Sesshomaru, but neither of their former lovers said a word to them. However, Kouga had caught Sesshomaru staring at Kagome many times from afar. Finally, it all came to a head when after class one day, Sesshomaru came up to them. He looked over at Kagome and said, “This Sesshomaru wants to speak with you, Kagome.”

Kagome shrugged. “Well, I don’t care what that Sesshomaru wants. I am no longer at that Sesshomaru’s beckon call.” She said, her dark eyes silently challenging the young man.

Sesshomaru was about to reply, but Kagura’s shrill voice rang out and she quickly attached herself to Sesshomaru’s arm. She glared at Kagome and then asked, “Is this little bitch bothering you, my sweet.”

Kouga chuckled. “Actually, Kagura, it is Sesshomaru who approached Kagome. So do us all a favor and keep him in line. Kagome is not interested in getting back with him.” He said, his hand running down Kagome’s arm to gently clasp her hand.

Kagome nodded. “Yeah. Well, if you will excuse us, Kouga has promised to buy me lunch. Oh, and Sesshomaru, quit calling my house. I don’t talk to cheaters.” She sneered.

Kouga chuckled and led Kagome away from the adulterous pair. They walked to the student center. Kagome saw her friends and waved to them. Sango, Miroku, Inu Yasha and Shiori were all sitting at a table and waved back at her. As they approached, Inu Yasha leapt up and said, “What in the hell is he doing here?”

Kagome sighed. “Inu Yasha, Kouga is a very close friend of mine. Be nice.” She admonished.

Inu Yasha snorted. “Yeah, right. Listen, we all know that the both of you have the hots for each other. Hell, there is a bet going around about how long it takes the both of you to fuck. Could you at least do me a favor and make it something during this week? If you do, I’ll win twenty dollars.” He said, his tone changing from irritated to hopeful.

Kagome shook her head and then grinned when Shiori grabbed his hand and made him sit down. She shook her head and then saw Kouga wave at a couple of guys at another table.

“Listen, I see Ginta and Hakkaku. I am going to say hi.” He said. When Kagome nodded, he let go of her hand and gave her a quick kiss on her cheek, something he had never done, until now.

Kagome blushed and smiled softly. She looked over at her friends and found them grinning up at her. She glared at them playfully and then sighed. Ok, so she liked Kouga. A lot.

“So, you are finally over that jackass I call a brother. Good for you. I told you that you could do better, though Kouga is not what I had in mind.” Inu Yasha grumbled.

Sango cocked her head. “What do you have against Kouga, Inu Yasha?” She asked. Inu Yasha blushed, but it was Miroku who answered for him.

“Kouga has never lost a race to Inu Yasha. In fact, in high school, they were always competing, but when it came to anything having to do with running, Inu Yasha could never measure up.” He explained, earning a glare from his friend.

“I think he cheats somehow.” Inu Yasha muttered, but was silenced by his girlfriend. “He doesn’t cheat, Inu Yasha. He is simply gifted when it comes to running.” Shiori replied.

Kagome laughed at her friend’s pout and then saw Kouga walking towards her. “Are you ready to go?” He asked, coming to stand beside her chair.

Kagome nodded, and stood up. Taking his offered hand, she said goodbye to her friends and then heard Inu Yasha yell, “Remember to fuck sometime during this week or else I am out twenty bucks.”

Kouga flipped Inu Yasha off and then heard him say, “No, not me. Her, you dumbass.” Kagome began to laugh and did not stop until they were outside. Finally, she collected herself and looked at Kouga.

“So, how are your friends?” She asked. Kouga grinned and led her to his car. “They are good. They met a couple of girls and actually got dates with them. But, they did give me some good advice and I am thinking about following it, but I will have to see.” He replied.

After they were securely in his car, Kouga started the engine and soon they were on the road. “Where are we going?” Kagome asked, her excitement evident.

“You’ll see.” Kouga replied, his voice teasing. Kagome knew that tone. She would get no answers from him.

They drove for almost an hour, and finally, they came to a stop. Kagome grinned, and quickly got out of the car. Kouga had brought her back to the lake that they driven to that day that they found out that they had been cheated on.

Kouga got out and went to his trunk. He reached in and grabbed a large blanket. He then walked over to Kagome and grasped her hand. He led her down a few ways and then stopped and spread out the blanket.

They both sat on the blanket and stared at the lake. Finally, Kouga looked over at Kagome and asked, “Do you miss him?”

Kagura cleared her throat. She, too, had been trying to get into contact with her ex, but to no avail. When she had gone to her first class, Yura had turned to her and smiled as she said that it was such a shame that Kagura had let a fine piece of male like Kouga walk away and into another woman’s arms.

Kouga was about to stand up and tell both Sesshomaru and Kagura where to go, but Inu Yasha hopped up and shook his head.

Kouga felt Kagome tug on his arm, and he sighed. Nodding, he relaxed and watched as Inu Yasha grinned. The younger Taisho slowly turned and grinned up at his brother.

“Guess what, brother? I won myself twenty bucks. Want to know how, well, I am going to tell ya. See, there was this bet on how long it would take Kouga and Kagome to sleep together, and I guessed right. As you can obviously see, she is no longer yours to mistreat. “I made a mistake. I never should have cheated on you. Please, Kouga. We can work this out. I can overlook you sleeping with her.” Kagura said, her voice pleading.

Kouga shook his head. He smiled down at Kagome and hugged her to him. “No, Kagura. I am happy with the way things turned out. I am really happy right where I am, and I am now with Kagome. Unlike you, Kagome is not the type to cheat on her man, and I know that there is no reason for me to look elsewhere, not with what my girl gave me last night.” He said, smirking. He watched as Kagura wilted right before his eyes and he felt a slight twinge of satisfaction at her destruction.

Sesshomaru stared at Kagome. He narrowed his eyes and saw a large bruise on her neck. It was clearly a love bite.

“Tell me, Kagome. Was he a good fuck? Did you enjoy yourself? You must have because that mark on your neck is proof of your loose behavior.” Sesshomaru sneered, his pride hurt.

Sesshomaru glared at the group and then turned on his heel. He stormed to the door and yanked it open. He disappeared from view, leaving Kagura behind. She seemed dazed, but then quickly turned on her heel and took off after him.

“Sessykins, wait for me.” She called, her dark hair streaming behind her. After she was gone, the group burst into giggles and Inu Yasha said, “I will remember this day for the rest of my life. That was too good to be true.”

Kouga nodded and felt his Kagome snuggle up to him. Sighing, he listened to the conversation that was currently going on around him and was glad that his and Kagome’s broken hearts were finally healed.
