Chapter One: Awakening
I updated sooner than I expected. The next installment might take a bit more time. But it should be up before next weekend.
Just a note, the title 'Watashi no Tenshi' translates into 'my angel'.
Tenshi-angel
Akuma-devil
There will be some random japanese thrown into the mix, but I'll try to use it in context so that it makes sense. If it's still confusing, someone e-mail me and I'd be happy in include a glossary, or just switch entirely to english, whichever is preferred. I can also stick in the english equivalents right next to the japanese.
Also, I noticed this fic getting many reviews about the way this fic is going. I'm sorry if the Prologue turns out to be a bit misleading. This is a somewhat supernatural fic where I will be using angels and demons, but in a way that will make sense, hopefully. I know the idea has been done to death, but I just couldn't help writing one of my own.
Ah, and one more thing. (Hm...that made me feel like that old man from the Jackie Chan Adventures...) This chapter is heavily laced with NarKag goodness, as I am fond of evilness in it's purest of forms. Notice that most of the real bad guys have a kind of refinement to them. I think it makes them hot. Anyhow, this is where a plot starts to develop. I hope I don't lose anybody =)
Chapter One: Awakening
Kagome awoke suddenly, shrieking. Something was out there. It was coming for her!
A soothing hand was on her back, rubbing in gentle circles. A cup of warm tea was placed at her lips. She drank gratefully. Everything seemed strangely quiet and unlit. The fire which was usually lit within Kaede’s hut seemed to have gone out.
Kagome looked up and recoiled. “Miroku?! Who put you in charge of taking care of me?” She demanded, startled, as was customary for most females experienced with the monk’s rather questionable ways.
The houshi sighed. “Dear Kagome-sama, would you really think that I would pursue an injured person such as yourself? I would at least wait until you’re healed until I tried anything.”
Kagome narrowed her eyes at the monk’s open admission. Unconsciously, she clutched the sheet to her chest.
“Maa, Kagome-sama, I do wish you would trust me.” He said innocently, shaking his head, though his eyes seemed to be trained on something lower than her face.
She looked down. She had no shirt on! Pulling the sheet up to cover her chest, she slapped the lecherous monk in one simultaneous motion. She wasn’t exactly bare-chested, as a swath of cloth bandages covered her entire chest, but it was the fact that she wasn’t exactly clothed either, that bothered her.
Behind the fallen houshi, Inuyasha and Sango walked into the hut, followed closely by a worried Shippou.
“How are you feeling?” Sango asked.
“Better.” Kagome replied, smiling. “What happened while I was out?”
Inuyasha shrugged. “Nothing. It’s been too quiet.”
“Did…is Naraku still out there?” Kagome asked tentatively, afraid of her failure.
Her friends nodded slowly. Her face fell. She had failed. “Look…I’m….I’m really sorry. After everything you guys did,” tears rolled down her cheeks and she tried to stifle a hiccup. That had been their one big chance! So close! They had been so close to defeating him! And she had let them all down. “I’m so sorry for not being strong enough, for failing you guys…” She murmured piteously. It wasn’t fair. If only she had been a little bit stronger!
Warm arms were around her, embracing her, soothing her. “No, we’re sorry.” Sango said, her voice muffled by Kagome’s hair. “We weren’t strong enough to protect you.”
Kagome shook her head. “I should have been strong enough…I should have been stronger…”
“Kagome-sama…” Miroku stood, violet eyes piercing in his unusual seriousness. “You were strong. You were stronger than anything we had ever seen. So strange though…”
Her curiosity perked, Kagome turned her full attention to the man, her sadness stilled for a moment. “What?”
“Wings.” He murmured.
She shot him a puzzled stare. “What?” She repeated. She looked around. Everyone was strangely silent and still.
Inuyasha tugged a white cloth from the sleeve of his haori and tossed it to her. Kagome held it up, recognizing the cloth as her shirt, now riddled with blood soaked tears. “What about it?”
Miroku turned the shirt over. On the back were two impossibly clean gashes on the fabric, as if it had been sliced with a blade infinitely finer than a razor. The ran from the tips of her shoulder blade down to the middle of her spine.
“Cuts from the battle.” Kagome reasoned, shrugging, trying to ignore the strange implications of the gashes.
Sango shook her head. “There would have been blood from the cuts.”
“Kagome-sama.” Miroku held her gaze steady with his own. “In the moment you drew your bow against Naraku, wings sprouted from your back. They faded as you fainted.”
“But…” Kagome’s eyes were wide and confused. “That’s impossible. I’m only human.”
“Perhaps…” Miroku muttered speculatively.
-:- -:- -:-
Kagome sighed. Things were too strange. She had healed too fast, recuperating completely within a week. All of her injuries had faded, not even scarring. Kaede would come by often and make sure she was in bed, fearing for her health, but Kagome was fine. Too fine. It was disturbing her.
Plus the fact that now her friends were tossing around the idea that she wasn’t human. That was preposterous. She was a born and bred Tokyo girl, living in an age when youkai and magic were myth! She was completely human.
In an attempt to escape her friends’ suddenly rabidly paranoid attitude about her, she had taken a midnight stroll. It wasn’t the most intelligent thing to do, but their worry was stifling. Always at least two of them were with her, either openly or hiding, but she knew they were there. Even when bathing, Sango and Shippou would accompany her. She knew that they only worried about her well being, as she had become ever stranger to them, healing too quickly and sprouting wings and whatnot…
She sighed again, leaning back to rest hear head against the tree trunk. Maybe she should go home…take a few days break…
Inuyasha would have a fit…or maybe he’d allow her to go, seeing as he had been getting really weird about watching her all the time. It was getting stalker-like.
“Tenshi…”
Kagome stiffened, her head whirled about, eyes searching wildly for the source of the sound. It was too quiet, too eerie. The voice was too silkily drawled to have been the wind. It was also a windless night. She sat up, rigid, cursing herself for forgetting her bow and arrows. Her grasping fingers closed around a stick. Not quite an arrow, but it would do. She rose and brandished her stick before her, infusing it with her energy. The stick glowed, casting her surroundings into a blue light.
Crimson eyes appeared before her. She almost shrieked at their closeness. He was less than half a meter away!
Naraku!
His crimson eyes flashed with amusement, his mouth quirking into a smirk.
“You have some guts to show yourself here, Naraku!” Kagome shouted, trying to sound confident, and at the same time alert Inuyasha.
“Tut, tut, little miko. The hanyou won’t be coming tonight. You see, I’ve placed a barrier around us, and I’ve been watching you for some time now. It is just you, and I, now, little miko.” He said affectionately, a smile curving his lips.
Something was strange about Naraku. His voice didn’t normally flow that smoothly now, did it? It was almost soothing and warm…Kagome violently shook those thoughts from her head. Naraku was the bad guy! “What do you want? I’m warning you, one funny move and I’ll purify your ass to dust!” She threatened.
His smile only seemed to grow wider.
“Little miko,” he purred, peering at her through half-lidded eyes. “I just want you.” He drew her into his arms in one fluid motion she couldn’t even sense until she was pulled against his chest. He stroked her hair affectionately. “My little tenshi. You will be mine.”
WHAT! Kagome pushed fruitlessly against him. “Go to hell, Naraku!”
He chuckled. “Hm...that’s the second time since I’ve ascended that someone has told me that. Like I told him,” he bent down to whisper into her ear, “been there, done that.”
Kagome shivered as his breath blew sensuously across the shell of her ear.
His arms tightened around her suddenly, eliciting a surprised squeak from her. Naraku grinned, bending down to claim her lips in a searing kiss. He withdrew before she had enough sense to bite him. “My little tenshi,” he murmured by her ear, drawing her earlobe into his mouth, sucking lightly.
Kagome gasped, trying to pull away.
“My name is Akuma.” He licked the shell of her ear, tracing it with the tip of his tongue.
Kagome was alternating between blushing madly and paling in petrification. Naraku was acting more like a pervert than ever! But this time, she wasn’t getting grossed out but rather…she was starting to feel a bit hot. What was with the Akuma and tenshi bit? ‘Devil?’ He wanted her to call him ‘devil’ now?
She could feel him grin against her ear. He pressed his body against his. She gasped at his obvious arousal. NO! She would not get entrapped in this situation again. Suddenly remembering her stick, her powers flared to life! Only this time, there seemed to be no effect.
“My tenshi, your purification powers won’t work against me. I am Akuma.” He purred, gently biting down on the outer him of her ear.
“What the hell are you talking about, Naraku?!” Kagome demanded a bit too shrilly. She was desperate to find a way out of the situation. The fear of the way her body was reacting to him was awful. She just couldn’t seem to control herself. All she wanted to do was relax into his hold and allow him to do whatever to her. It scared her the power he seemed to now hold over her. And her own powers weren’t working!
He bit down sharply on her ear. “I am Akuma.” He hissed. “Now, look what you’ve made me do…” He chastised, fingering the ear that he had bit. It was bleeding from his fangs. He rolled a hot tongue over the wound, lapping at her blood. He gave a soft moan. It was delicious. He licked his lips.
Kagome was afraid. Naraku seemed to have gone insaner! That wasn’t a word, but her panic-addled brain refused to allow her to think straight. Naraku believed he was the devil and why was he paying such close attention to her ears, anyway?
She felt his arousal twitch against her. Oh! Better not forget about that! She renewed her struggles to escape his now one-armed embrace.
Naraku groaned. His eyes closed in pleasure. “Tenshi,” he murmured, “you only convince me of your need. It was not my intent to take you this night.”
Kagome stilled instantly.
He chuckled darkly. His head bent down, sensual lips meeting the soft white flesh of her throat. He sucked, swirling a tongue on her smooth, creamy skin. His hand played against her stomach, stroking it up and down.
Kagome whimpered. What was he doing to her. Seducing her in the light of the moon? Oh how very romantic. Only he’s a cruel, evil, malicious, sadistic hanyou that was mean mean mean! She was trying to push away the contemplations of simply submitting to his pleasurable touches.
She gasped as she felt a fang run across the junction of her neck and shoulder, drawing a thin line of blood.
“So very delicious.” He whispered against her skin, as if drunk in the haze of her innocence. His tongue followed the line he had made, tracing it up and over repeatedly in slow sensuous strokes.
Kagome tried to flare her aura again. Why weren’t her powers working!
His arm tightened about her once more. Bringing her hips to meet his once more. He groaned. “Tenshi…how I want you. Right now, you are what I desire. Come with me, and I will promise you that you shall want for nothing, ever.”
“You’re a lying bastard, Naraku.”
Crimson eyes narrowed angrily. He growled. “Naraku is gone! He was an unwilling host, so I simply removed that petulant human soul of his. Needless to say that the pathetic Onigumo did not go without a fight, but I needed this body. Do you see?” His eyes flashed a brilliant color, undoubtedly demonic. His arm constricted about her body in waiting for an answer.
“Yes!” Kagome gasped, afraid of the madman.
“No, I am no madman. I am Akuma, ascended from the darkness of my prison when you awoke me, little tenshi.” He cooed softly, trying to calm the fearful miko. “I’ve come to take you with me, but you must come willingly. I’ll take such good care of you, my tenshi.” He lowered his lips to the base of her throat. “Please say you’ll come.” There was a note of pleading in his velvety voice.
“No!” Kagome yelped. She was too confused. This person looked like Naraku, but Naraku would never act in such a fashion. Yes he was a manipulative bastard, but she was sure that he would never stoop to begging for permission. What was going on?!
Akuma sighed. “Very well. You are not ready as of yet, anyway. I can wait. I have been patient these past fifteen hundred years. Three more days wouldn't hurt.”
Three days? He was giving her three days before he came again? That’s it, she was going home.
“I’ve sealed the well, tenshi. You are staying here in this time, with me.”
Kagome’s eyes bugged. Was he reading her thoughts?
“Yes, but I don’t need to. Your eyes express all I need to know.”
Out out OUT!
“I’ll be back in three days, tenshi. I hope that you’ll be ready by then.” He planted a soft yet impassioned kiss onto her lips and disappeared into the darkness.
Kagome’s legs gave out from under her. She curled her legs toward her, looping her arms around them. Her stick fell, forgotten, from numb fingers. She sobbed morosely, what had she gotten herself into?

And there you have it. A budding plot! I'll just water it with some tender, loving care, and it shall bloom into something beautiful, yes? Then ending of this chapter may have seemed a bit rushed, but it's like that for a bit more dramatic or panicky affect. All the scattered information will be ordered and organized in the next chapter. Much more explaining will come soon.
