Chapter Two

"Captain, this is Rin, Captain Owasi's daughter." Sesshomaru looked up and appraised the girl. He waved off the two crewmen and they left. He stood, came around the desk, and grabbed the girl in a firm iron grip. His penetrating gaze caused Rin to fidget from one foot to the other.

"Captain I-" Rin was smacked by Jaken who had remained at the corner of his Captains desk. Rin touched the stinging cheek and glanced down at the imp who dared touch her. He must have jumped from that position because he was far too short to do anything to her face otherwise.

"You will not speak to Captain Sesshomaru, unless spoken too." Sesshomaru looked at the toad and gave a sever glare to him.

"Jaken, you will not touch her. No one touches a lady. Captive or not." Sesshomaru accentuated his point of discipline by giving him a slash with his poisonous whip. The imp scampered off to his dark corner and said a murmured apology to Rin, whom humphed and said "accepted".

Sesshomaru gave the beautiful woman in front of him a searing look. She was what many claimed. He now understood why the pitiful Captain had tried to keep the girl hidden from the world. For a human she seemed to have a great deal of pride and self-assured confidence. Humans truly disgusted him, but this girl...there was something about her that truly puzzled him. He wasn't a youkai who lowered himself to kidnapping, but if the opportunity fell into his lap he wasn't a fool. He would keep this meek human girl and in turn perhaps her overbearing, egoist of a father will be knocked off his throne.

Rin was feeling very uncomfortable in being stared at. She'd received many a stare in her life, but this man made her feel something she was unfamiliar with. He was the most amazing creature she'd ever set eyes on. Maybe there were tons of men like him in the world and she just never knew it, but something about him told her that it just wasn't so. His entrancing eyes were like golden, which fell from the sun. His hair like a silver waterfall, spewing over his broad shoulders. His face would be one ingrain in any woman's mind forever. His body was strong and reeked of masculinity, yet his face softens with an almost feminine touch. Rin gave a start when he spoke again, but this time to her.

"This Sesshomaru believes you to be Captain Owasi's daughter, Rin. Is this true?" Rin could have said no, she should have, but something about the way the man holding her, appraising her forced her to say the truth. She'd never like to lie anyway and was probably horrible at it.

"I...I am." The moment she said it something inside her became very aware of what she had just done to herself. She had just sealed her own warrant as a captive on this ship. She took a step backward and knocked into the hallow wooden wall in the captain's office. Sesshomaru opened the door and swept a hand toward one of the crew members, signaling for a tall burly man with few teeth and a red bandana on the top of his hairless, tattooed head. The man automatically took heed to his captain and took several large strides finding himself in the captain's quarters.

"Yes Captain." The man spoke with a self-assured tone. His eyes swept the lenght of Rin's lithe body and he smirked appreciatively. "How may I be of assistance?"

"This is Rin Owasi. Captain Owasi' daughter and our new guest. She is to be taken below to one of the few empty cabins. This Sesshomaru wants her daughter door guarded every available moment in the day. She is under no circumstances, as this Sesshomaru's ward, allowed to leave her room. Have Ummei bring the girls meals in. No one, exempting your Captain, is to have access to her. If one of the rules set up just now is broken you will feel your Captain's wrath." With his piece said Sesshomaru headed up to the deck level, to conduct the flow of thing to be done.

Rin paled considerable, being faced with the possibility she may be injured or rapped here. Sure, Sesshomaru had given orders to keep her safe, but how could she trust him. He was her father’s enemy, therefore meaning her enemy, and anyone of these crude men could disobey their Captain. She was still pressed unrelentingly against the cabin's wall. Why did this happen to her? She'd never left her ship before, never been an unruly horrid woman. Did life just have a sick twisted sense of irony? She left one prison, her father’s ship, and now she was on another.

Rimoko, the man given orders to take Rin and imprison her smiled and moved forward. He offered his hand, in a gentleman's offer. Rin shunned him and her last chance at civilized treatment. Rimoko moved forward all gallantry gone from his, once smiling, face. Lifting her like a sack of potatoes, the man walked out of the room, headed for a different cabin. Rin kicked and screamed and demanded he release her at once, but the arrogant pirate merely shifted positions and picked up the pace.

Rin felt herself being lowered to the ground in an elegantly decorated room. It wasn't her room, which held much of her personality, but a beautiful room all the same. The man gave a smile and walked out of the room, but not before grabbing a handful of her behind and many layers of skirts. Rin huffed after smacking the hand away and began a through analysis of the room before her. The bed was small, as necessary for the ships build, and held layers of plush comforters, of blue and yellow. It the bed was made and not slept in. A thin layer of dust covered the cherry wood surface of the wooden frame of the bed and the wooden dress which was small and undisturbed. Everything looked untouched and unkempt. Elegant though it was decorated, it seemed no one had slept here in years.

Dusting off the top layer of comforter to lay down, Rin splayed out on the bed. She was exhausted from the arguing, kicking, screaming, and overall aspects of the day. Of course she was going to try to escape, but right now she was too tired to think. She allowed the weight of her eyelids and overwhelming call of sleep to envelope her senses, within minutes she was in her own world of dreams and fantasy, she so loved to visit, but never could bring into the real world.

**********The Defender***********

"WHAT?" Captain Owasi was standing purple faced, in front of his desk. Hiten had just told him the news. His precious loving daughter, Rin, was missing. "HOW IN THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN? YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING HER! YOU INCOMPETENT FOOL! IF MY RIN ISN'T RECOVERED WITHIN THE HOUR I'LL SEE YOU HANG FOR THIS!" Every word out of his mouth was high in volume and low in tolerance.

"Captain...I was down in the kitchen getting my evening ale. I came up, checked to see what she was doing, and waited outside for a few hours. When I checked in again, I thought it strange she hadn't moved at all, or woken, so I went to the bed to make sure she was well, but when I pulled back the covers, she wasn't there." Hiten hung his head. He knew the penalty for not doing his job. Rin wasn't an easy person to baby-sit, but when he applied for the position he was more interested in what she had to offer in the bedroom. He should have known she'd make an ill-fated attempt to run. He may very well hang for his inability to fulfill his position.

"YOU WERE OUT FOR ALE! FIND MY DAUGHTER! IF ONE HAIR ON HER HEAD IS OUT OF PLACE YOU WILL KNOW WHAT MEN SEE BEFORE DEATH! Go!" the last part was ferocious whisper. All the men on deck could hear their Captain and knew if anyone was stupid enough to hurt Rin, then they deserved what was coming. The men on board the ship, though pirates and scoundrels, had found the girl a delightful bubbly young woman, who they held in high regard. They had always sympathized with her innate will and need to know land life, but they just hoped for her sake, and their own, that Rin hadn't gotten herself into trouble.

*********Rin's Cabin*********

Rin awoke to the faint smell of fish. She knew that smell well, for she had many times snuck down to the kitchen, to help cookie with the cookin. She loved it, not many people could if they ate it everyday, but she loved all type. Salmon, that's what she smelled a light aroma of her second favorite fish, next to Bass and Tuna. Cracking an eye open she saw that a small young man was exiting the room. He had obviously been the one to leave a bowl of Salmon chowder soup and large slice of bagget, freshly made bread.

"Thank you" It was a mere whisper, but the young tiger youkai's ears perked and a semblance of a nod was seen, as he continued his exit of the room. Rin shoved her palms into the mattress and hoisted herself off the bed she had lain across, to amble directly to her meal. She wasn't going to kid herself, this meal may very well be poisoned, but that didn't seem likely as they needed her for bait, and she was too hungry to resist the temptation of the tantalizing meal. It didn't take Rin long to devour her dinner, she'd had the soup in her stomach after a few moment of stirring it cool.

There came a knock at the door and Rin looked up as Captain Sesshomaru entered. He gave her a pointed stare, as she was still clenching a morsel of bread, which she automatically placed on the empty plate.

"Miss. Owasi, this Sesshomaru will ask only once. Where is Captain Owasi headed?" Sesshomaru needed to know, if he had any hopes of making a deal with the disgusting human Captain. Rin must know, she was after all, his only daughter.

"I...I'm not sure. I mean...you see...my father doesn't really discuss these things with me. I happen to catch tidbits here and there, but as for specific and detailed knowledge....I'm afraid I couldn't possibly be of much help." Rin zeroed in on a knot on the wooden floor. This man made her oddly nervous yet excited something in her she knew not of. The creaking of the floor boards brought her attention to Sesshomaru's current position, which was in front of the dresser, where a figurine sat.

"Very well. Tell this Sesshomaru, what you know." Sesshomaru's eyes never left the tiny frivolous item that so captured his attention.

"Well supposedly, if what I overheard was correct, my father is headed for the west. Where? I'm not sure, but he mentioned that it was the center of all pirate black market trade, if that helps." Sesshomaru nodded and waltzed to the door. Before his hand could turn the handle, Rin called out to him.

"May I beg you a question of you, Captain?" Rin's eyes were again lowered to the floor and the knot in the planks.

"If one must." He didn't often allow any personal questions where he was the center of attention. He didn't seem to mind it from this girl though. Perhaps it was her innocence, or her beguiling nature, but he'd tolerate it from her.

"Well, whose room was this?" It was not the question he had expected. Maybe a question about whether she'd be allowed back to her father, or if he knew where to go, but not that one.

"This was the room my half brother's mate, Kikyo. She died during a raid of the ship, when I did not hold the position of Captain. He no longer resides on this ship and the room is now yours until we make port at the black market. Good day." That was all he said and then glided from the room. That was the first time Rin heard Sesshomaru refer to himself in the first person. She, for the briefest of moment, saw a skid of emotion pass through his eyes, but what she saw upset her. It was sadness, an uncertainty, even anger. There was an unspoken bond between them and maybe before she escaped this wooden prison, she'd find out what it was.

A/N: Okay so I took a while to update. I hoped it would be sooner, but it's been like world war three in my house and I always seem to be the direct target of all the anger. I've also taken to tutor my friend in math and that mixed with hoping to get a new job make it kinda hard to update. Sorry for the wait, but don't forget to read and review. Thanks again. Until next time.....Egyptian Kiss!
