The Run In
Summary: Sesshoumaru didn’t move at all from the impact of the small woman’s body running into him. His senses however were assaulted, as he could smell the salty tears coming from her person. And the remnant scent of his brother clinging to her own scent, which was mixed with a light fragrance of lilacs. His clawed hands instinctively shot out to steady the figure that ran into him. Sesshoumaru glared down at the top of the woman’s head waiting for her apology.
Author's Note: As I said before, Inuyasha not mine. Enjoy the next chapter and please review if you don't mind.
CHAPTER 2: THE RUN IN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She ran as fast as her legs would allow her. All she wanted was to escape this moment. It was as if she believed that if she ran as fast as she could; it would turn back the hands of time. Kagome’s eyes were blurred by the hot saline tears spilling freely from her now swollen eyes. 'I have to leave. I can’t believe what just happened. I feel so…' *Thud!*
Kagome was roughly pulled from her thoughts when she felt her body collide into something hard. A startled gasp came from her full, pale pink lips. She didn’t see the tall figure standing in front of her as she blindly went down the hall to exit Inu- Research Inc. building.
Sesshoumaru didn’t move at all from the impact of the small woman’s body running into him. His senses however were assaulted as he could smell the salty tears coming from her person, and the remnant scent of his brother clinging to her which was mixed with a light fragrance of lilacs. His clawed hands instinctively shot out to steady the figure that ran into him. Sesshoumaru glared down at the top of the woman’s head waiting for her apology.
“I am sorry.” Kagome pulled back to right herself. “I … wasn’t watching where I was going.” She murmured, keeping her head down with embarrassment. Kagome felt hands tightly grip her shoulders.
“Humans! You lot are so clumsiness.” Came an arrogant and hard voice filled with loathing. “I forgive you for your severe inferiority.”
That statement made Kagome forget her sorrow and heart ache just for the briefest of time. Her blood was now boiling at the evil words uttered at her.
“Excuse me!” she retorted hotly. “I said I was sorry.” Kagome lifted her face to look at the smart ass who made such a rude remark at her. She didn’t really register the fact that he said "humans," just the fact that he said clumsy and inferior. Her nonobservant mind didn’t register the fact that the man holding her still had dark purple strips on him or the crescent moon on his forehead. Kagome’s breath caught in her throat as she gazed at the Taiyoukai standing in front of her. He was handsome, but that was besides the point. All that mattered was the obscene statement that the jerk said to her. The more she glared challengingly at him the more his markings were now making a small connection somewhere in her head, but she didn’t care at the moment.
Sesshoumaru heard the anger coming from the woman standing a foot from him. She dared to look up at him defiantly. Her silver-blue eyes shown brightly with anger when their eyes met in a silent stare down.
A loud shout coming from far down the hallway broke there heated gaze. “Kags wait! Don’t do this.”
Sesshoumaru recognized that vile voice that rang through the hall. It was his half brother. The woman in his grasp suddenly underwent a fast change from anger to sorrow. The pained emotions coming across her beautiful face.
Emotions, what a nuisance, Sesshoumaru thought evilly. The women all but forgot him as he looked into her now widening eyes. Beautiful, what the hell, he reprimanded himself. She is nothing but a human, Sesshoumaru told himself.
Kagome started to pull away from the man as she wanted to escape, desperately. No, please not another encounter I might not be able to control myself, she thought.
He must have felt sorry for her because he let go of her. Sesshoumaru watched as she glanced over her shoulder fretfully and then took off running like a bat out of hell. His brother’s footstep coming ever closer he noticed. His angelic feature showed no emotion as he waited for his half witted brother to come. Why does he even bother with them? They are such useless creatures. A thought came creeping into his mind.
*Flashback*
The scene is in black and white as Sesshoumaru stands in his conference room. It is now filled with lawyers. Only one was speaking as he held the parchment in his hands. He stood up from the chair and began to speak in a monotone voice that grated on his ears. “In order for my son, Sesshoumaru … , to obtain half of my estate he must marry before his thirtieth birthday. The stipulations are as followed. One, they must be married for one year. Two, he must mark her as his mate, and lastly." There was a pause before the lawyer spoke again. "Third, my son must marry a human."
*End of flashback*
Sesshoumaru growled loudly at the memory that infiltrated his thought, as his brother now came into his sights.
Inuyasha stopped in his tracks. Damnit! “What the hell are you doing here, Sesshoumaru?” He grated out through clenched teeth.
Sesshoumaru didn’t answer Inuyasha right away which only annoyed him further. “I don’t have time for you, so leave.” His voice radiated with disgust.
Sesshoumaru smiled inwardly. “Well, little hanyou, not happy to see me?” His voice was deadly calm. “The feeling is mutual, half breed.”
Inuyasha could feel is temperature rising fast as his asshole for a half brother stood there insulting him. Before Inuyasha could yell out a reply his half brother’s word stopped him.
“I am hear to tell you that our father as died.”
