The Matchmakers

Day 1

Benten and Gama stood just in the forest the Kagome was walking by unseen by
all.

Gama who leaned idly against a tree looked at Benten "I will wait till they are in the
clearing it would be easier to get a hold of her."

"Good idea Gama that way she won't be hurt by the trees." Benten turned to
Gama and they both disappeared

"Inuyasha can we take a break now Shippou is tired and hungry."

"fe" " All you guys want to do all day is take breaks I don't see how you expect to
get shards if all you do is rest." Inuyasha jumps to the next tree and sees a
clearing up ahead. " We can stop at the clearing and take a rest for a few
minutes."

"Thank you Inuyasha." Kagome turns to her friends riding Kirara and starts to
holler at Sango when suddenly she took her hiraikotsu and hit Miroku in the head.
Kagome shook her head I wonder if he will ever learn "Inuyasha said we can take
a break at the next clearing."

"Good Kirara can use a break and so can my butt. " She turns and glares at the
monk who had a weird smile on his face despite the lump on his head.

Kagome walks into the clearing and lets Shippou down to run to Kirara to play.
Inuyasha had already gathered wood for the fire so the Kagome could make the
Ramen. Sango reaches for Kagomes pack and starts taking out the bowls and
ramen to help Kagome. " Thank you Sango."

Miroku leaned against a fallen log by the fire and closed his eyes for a rest hoping
to get rid of a headache caused by a certain taijiya.

Inuyasha jumped on top of a near by tree "We are not going to stay here all day so
you had best hurry with the ramen."

Kagome and Sango looked at each other and just shook their heads. They put
the ramen on to cook and Kagome headed toward Shippou to play with him and
Kirara while it cooked. She was almost there when a strong wind picked up and
before she knew it she was lifted off the ground into a swirling tornado. "Inuyasha
help!"

Inuyasha ran toward Kagome but there was a barrier surrounding Kagome and
the tornado. He drew Tetsusaiga and looked around for Kagura because she
was the only demon he knew that could control the wind. But he couldn't"pick up
her scent no matter how many times he sniffed the air. He hit the barrier with
Tetsusaiga and it didn't break. "Kagome!" He drew the sword back for another
try "Kaze no Kizu" nothing happened. "Sango see what you can do." He watched
her jump on Kirara and fly to the top of the barrier.

Sango looked down at Kagome through the barrier "Hiraikotsu" the
boomerang hit the barrier and bounced off back to her. "It's not going to work."
She looked down at the group below her "Try something else."

Miroku was tossing sacred scrolls at it to no effect. The group stood by as
Kagome was stuck in the air by the tornado, they were helpless to help their
friend. "There is something wrong about this tornado Inuyasha, Kagome is just
staying in place while the wind blows all around her?" Miroku turns to Inuyasha and
finds him trying to dig under the barrier.

"What" Inuyasha stops digging and watches Kagome inside the barrier. "I bet
Naraku has something to do with this. Even if I can't smell him."

"Watch out everyone" Sango and Kirara flying around the barrier had to dodge a
ball of light that flew into the barrier and surrounded Kagome.

Kagome watched as her friends tried to get to her but to no avail. Suddenly the
wind stopped and a ball of light surrounded her. She had to close her eyes
because of the brightness. with in seconds the light was gone and she was
lowered to gently to the ground . The barrier disappeared and the group ran to
Kagome who was unconscious on the ground.

Inuyasha picked up Kagome and took her by the fire. "Sango get her bed ready I
will put her in it."

Sango ran to Kagomes backpack and took out her sleeping bag and laid it by the
fire. "You can put her in it now Inuyasha.""

Inuyasha laid Kagome on the sleeping bag and brushed her hair away from her
face before jumping into the tree to watch over the camp.

"Miroku what do you think that was about" Sango asked

"I don't know, we will just have to wait for Kagome to awaken. Maybe she can
shed some light on what happened." Miroku looked up the tree at Inuyasha
"Inuyasha did you smell any demons?"

Inuyasha glanced down at the monk "No, none, I couldn't smell any demon scent or
anything else out of the ordinary."

Shippou ran to Kagome and climbed into the sleeping bag with her. " I don't know
what happened okaa-san but I will watch over you now like you watch over me"
with that said he curls into a ball beside Kagome and goes to sleep.

Sango finishes the ramen and gives everyone a bowl setting Kagome's and
Shippou's aside so when they woke up they could have it. Then she sat by her
friend to wait.

A couple of hours later Kagome finally stirs. She sits up and holds her head. Oh
my head hurts so bad I must have got hit again. She looks around the camp to find
all her friends starring at her "What happened?"

"Are you ok okaa-san?" Kagome looks down at the kitsune that she considers her
son and smiles.

She picks Shippou up and holds her in her arms "I am fine Shippou. What
happened?" She looks around at the group hoping they knew the answer.

Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku look at each other then at Kagome "We were hoping
that you knew the answer to that one Kagome!" Miroku replied.

"Yeah" said Inuyasha jumping from the tree to the ground beside Kagome.

"I don't know, the last thing I remember I was going to play with Shippou then I
woke up here." Kagome looked at the group with worry in her eyes.

Sango looks at Kagome "You don't remember the wind or the light?" Kagome
shakes her head no "Well you were picked up in a tornado and then a light came
and surrounded you. We couldn't get to you because there was a barrier. We tried
everything but nothing worked, not even the Tetsusaiga. It didn't last long and then
you were on the ground and Inuyasha looked around for a demon but he couldn't
find one so we don't really know why it happened. We were sort of hoping you
would know."

Shippou jumped on Kagomes shoulders and started sniffing his face looking at
Kagome in question and asked "Kagome why do you smell different?"

"What do you mean I smell different Shippou?" Kagome looked down at the
kitsune and jumped when she turned her head to see Inuyasha sniffing her as well.

"You do smell different but not like anything I smelled before." Inuyasha looked at
Kagome and spoke softly "You no longer smell like a ningen."

"What do you mean Inuyasha? I don't feel any different just a little hungry but not
different." Kagome looked down this is so disturbing I wonder what did happen
then? I am sure something did but I am not sure what.

"I mean that humans, and demons all have a certain scent but you smell like
neither of them. It's almost like you have a scent all your own. Like you are your
own being."

Sango hands Kagome the food that she saved for her "After you eat would you
like to go take a bath. Inuyasha found a hot spring close by."

"That would be great I feel filthy. Must be because of the tornado that you said I
was in."

A little while longer Kagome and Sango headed to the hot springs checking
behind them to ensure that the guys wasn't following them. "What do you think
happened Sango?"

"I don't know Kagome. I have never seen anything like that before. I thought it was
some sort of demon attack but they would have to have been close enough for
Inuyasha to smell their scent and he didn't smell anything." Sango stripped out of
her clothes folded them and laid them on the edge of the spring then she turned
and walked into the spring and gasped when Kagome turned to place her clothes
on the ground by hers.

"What's wrong?" Kagome looked at Sango the worry could clearly be seen on her
face.

"You have a tornado on your back." Sango walked over to Kagome and carefully
touched her shoulder outlining the marking.

"What!" Kagome jumps when she feels Sango touching her shoulder. She turns
her head and couldn't see anything. "Sango get the mirrors out of my pack for me
please." She waited till Sango got the mirrors and gave her one and she took the
other she held the mirror up till she saw her back in the reflection of the other and
gasped herself "It's almost like a tattoo. I wonder why it is there. This is getting
creepier and creepier. First I get sucked up by a tornado, blasted with a ball of
light and now I have markings. I wonder what's going to happen next?"

"Don't you know you should never ask that because almost always something bad
happens when you do." Sango looked at Kagome with a smile on her face.

"Yeah I know but I couldn't help myself." Kagome started laughing

"Lets finish here and head back to camp maybe the guys know something."

Sango took the shampoo that Kagome handed her and started washing her hair.
"Speaking of the guys I'm surprised that they haven't bothered us yet. They usually
interrupt our baths by now."

"I know but they are probably being considerate because of what happened
today." Kagome laid back in the water to rinse her hair. "But just in case we
probably shouldn't linger here for too long. Just in case they do come to look for
us."

back at camp

"So Inuyasha do you think that Naraku had anything to do with what happened to
Kagome?" Shippou looked at Inuyasha

"I doubt it. If it was up to him she would be dead and what ever happened today
did her no harm. Besides I didn't smell him and I can always smell if he or one of
his minions are around." Inuyasha looked down upon Shippou and Miroku "What
do you all think?"

"This is very perplexing." Miroku was watching the forest where the girls had
disappeared in order to go to the hot springs.

Inuyasha looked down at the monk and scowled. He sniffed the air "They are
returning." He watched as the girls walked out of the forest and headed to the fire.

"Hey guys we have another mystery." Sango watched as the guys eyes instantly
shot toward her. "Kagome has a tornado mark on her back."

"What do you mean?" Inuyasha jumped from the tree and walked to Kagome
"Show us."

"Well when we were taking our bath I noticed a blue tornado marking Kagomes
back." Sango looked around her at Kagome "And we can't show you without
Kagome undressing and that is not going to happen."

"Why not we won't look at anything but her back" Miroku glanced at the girls in
hope. His purple eyes lighting up in anticipation. Until Sango hits him on the head
with her boomerang and he falls to the ground once again.

"No" yells Kagome " I am not taking my cloths off just to show you all, you will
have to take Sango's word on it." Kagome goes and sits on top of her sleeping
bag and holds Shippou when he jumps into her arms. "Maybe Kaede knows
something, we will be at her village in a couple of days"

"Kaede is wise she might indeed know the answer to our mystery." Miroku who
wakes up and lays back against the tree and closes his eyes. Hoping that his
headache would go away soon. "Kagome do you have any of that aspirin left?"

"I am going to go broke if I have to keep buying you aspirin. You do realize that
you would save yourself much pain if you just learned to control yourself a little bit
more." Kagome dug out her first aid box and gave him the aspirin. Shaking her
head and trying to hold back a laugh.

Miroku laughs and whispers to Kagome "I know but there wouldn't be any fun in
that. Besides most of the times the headaches are worth it."

Inuyasha looked around the camp and watched as Shippou yawned and settled
down into Kagomes arms and he sighed "Since we waisted another day we might
as well go to bed and get an early start." Inuyasha jumps into his tree and closes
his eyes.

The rest of the gang gets ready and soon joins him in sleep.

A couple of hours later Inuyasha jerks awake. He looks around and sees soul stealers
floating above the trees a little further into the forest. He smiles and jumps from tree
to tree to find his love.

"Kikyou what are you doing here?"

"I felt a disturbance in this area and came to investigate."

Inuyasha pulls Kikyou into his arms "I am glad that you came maybe you can solve
the mystery that happened today"

"What mystery" Kikyou leaned away from Inuyasha to look into his face.

"Kagome was lifted into the air by a tornado and blasted with a ball of light and
now bears a blue tornado marking on her back." Inuyasha looked down at Kikyou

"Have you heard of anything like this happening before?"

"No, how curious. Was she harmed?" Kikyou looked hopefully at Inuyasha

"She didn't even get a scratch, which is really odd considering she is always
getting scrapped because she is so clumsy." Inuyasha hugs Kikyou tighter to him

"Maybe Kaede can answer the mystery. We are headed to the village."

"Are we going to waste the rest of the night talking about my reincarnate" Kikyou
puts her hands on Inuyasha's face and pulls him down for a kiss.

"Not if you keep that up" He slowly lowers himself and Kikyou to the ground

Kagome wakes up and notices that Inuyasha is absent from his perch in the tree
and sighs "I bet he went to Kikyou again when is he going to learn that she is just
using him?" Kagome hugged Shippou closer to her

"Even if Inuyasha doesn't love you okaa-san I always will" Shippou looked at
Kagome with love in his eyes.

"Thank you Shippou that helps a lot." Kagome hugs Shippou to her chest tightly.

"Okaa-san I can't breath" Shippou breathed deep trying to get his breathing back
to normal when Kagome loosened her grip.

Kagome laughs "Sorry Shippou sometimes I get carried away."

"That's ok I like your hugs even if they are a little strong sometimes." Shippou
waits till Kagome lays back down and curls back up and goes back to sleep.

Kagome lays back down and is soon asleep again.

Kagomes dream

She is walking in a field of flowers and sees a person sitting in the middle of the
field. The lady looks up and motions for her to come closer. "Who are you"
Kagome asks.

"I am Uzume. I have found that the best way to get to know a person is through
their dreams. So sit with me and we can get to know each other." Uzume waited
for Kagome to sit down.

"Why would a Goddess like to get to know me" Kagome asked in shock.

"You are a very special person Kagome and very lucky. The gods don't grant just
everybody special privileges." Uzume waited for Kagome to understand what she
had said.

Once Kagome shut her mouth after the shock "What do you mean gods and
special privileges. Does this have anything to do with what happened earlier?"

"The god Gama has bestowed upon you immortality but only until your mate
passes then you will also."

"What? I don't have a mate" Kagomes mouth once again dropped open.

"You will soon enough but enough of that for now we don't want to get ahead of
ourselves." Uzume looked at Kagome and took a deep breath. If Kagome kept
getting shocking information like this she was afraid she might go into shock.
Kagome looked at Uzume with her mouth opened. Uzume reached across and
touched a finger to Kagomes chin and closed her mouth. "I have heard your
prayers many times. You have constantly asked for the power and strength to
defend your friends." Kagome nodded yes. " The gods have granted you this wish
although it might not come the way you wished it. Be prepared for some major
changes in your life young one and do not be scared by all that happens. But
most of all you can not tell any but your mate of what we are discussing."

Kagome looked at Uzume "If you don't mind could you possibly tell me who my
mate is going to be?"

"We gods and goddesses took much time debating this issue and if I tell you his
name you must promise not to go into hysterics." Uzume waited patiently while
Kagome considered what she had said. And when she was ready she nodded at
Uzume. "It is the taiyoukai of the west Lord Sesshoumaru."

If Kagome hadn't already been on the ground she was sure that she would have
fallen there "But he hates me and has tried to kill me countless times."

"Now Kagome do you really think that if Sesshoumaru had really wanted you dead
you would be here talking to me?" Uzume turned and raised her hand in front of
her a glowing orb appeared. "Look into the orb Kagome and find out the truth."

Kagome looked into the orb and saw the scenes of their fights with Sesshoumaru
and to her shock she saw that he had indeed had many opportunities to kill her but
he never took them. She found this hard to take in. But after watching the scenes
in the orb it kind of made it difficult to dispute. Shaking her head she looked to
Uzume "I don't think even you all can get Sesshoumaru to fall in love with a human"

Uzume laughed "It will possibly be one of the hardest things we have took on but
we have never failed yet. It is time for me to go remember all we have discussed."

Kagome simply nods again "ok"

"If you have any questions we will meet again." with that Uzume disappeared and
Kagome was left in the field by herself.
