Chapter two: meeting again


{Sesshomaru's POV}

Sesshomaru sensed Inuyasha and that pitiful group that he travels with walking through the forest long before he let them know that he was there. /Inuyasha has always been liked...I on the other hand had to be ruthless to keep father's kingdom after he died. Then he leave HIM the legendary fang...that is so like him./ He walked stealthily towards the group until he entered the clearing and began the fight, only to have the wind knocked out of him when he asked about Koneko. /I liked her, a lot more I w I will ever let on to that mutt, I had plans to make her my mate, the Lady of the Western lands, but she left me with only a small kiss on the cheek./ He sighed right before Naraku appeared and a new battle began with Inuyasha getting injured before too long./I wonder if Koneko would have made him turn out differently.../ He stopped when he heard the spell Kikyou muttered and noticed that Inuyasha had lost the power of movement. Just as he had decided to actually help him the arrow carrying HER scent closed the gait and sent both Naraku and Kikyou flying away. Her movements were so fast that even he saw nothing but a blur, but it was enough for him to follow them.

He found them in a clearing with Inuyasha unconscious and her tending to his wounds. She froze as her nostrils flared at his scent, she shook her head, but turned to face him anyway with a wet cloth in her clawed hands and her voice was sweet and soft, just as he remembered it when she spoke. "If you came to kill him, I beg you to leave."

"I would not actually kill him, I may come close, but for you I would never actually kill him."

"You speak as if you love me."

"Who is to say that I don't? You left before I could even question and experience the feelings I have for you."

"You cannot love me."

"Why? Answer me that."

"You who claims to hate all hanyous and will destroy them cannot love me, you see Sesshomaru, I am not a full demon."

"You are a half-demon?"

"No, I am 3/4 demon, the rest is....miko."

"You mean you are also a priestess?"

"Yes, and you hate all hanyous, you made that perfectly clear when Inuyasha was born."

"I could never hate you, I know you too well to hate you."

She kneeled beside Inuyasha and began washing the wounds, "But that's just it, I am torn between the two of you, I loved Inuyasha before he knew what love was, and I only learned that I loved you after I left. I couldn't stay with you both and watch you try to kill each other, especially after the snake demon incident. Yes, I knew it was you that sent it, your scent was all over it."

"You memorized my scent?"

A small blush appeared across her white cheeks, "Well, yes, I couldn't stop myself from memorizing it."

"What do I smell of to you?"

" Tsukikage (*1) and stardust."

"And what does he smell like?"

"Taiyoukousen (*2) and baras (*3)"

"So we smell like complete opposites. So you know what you smell like to me?"

"No," She began bandaging Inuyasha's wounds, "what do I smell like to you?"

"Juuman'okudo (*4) and ryoku (*5), Koneko, you smell of everything that is good. When I first matured, I knew I wanted you, but you were always tending to Inuyasha. I only got you alone once, you could have all ready been the Lady of the Western Lands and I would not have to put up with all the minikui (*6) and bakabakashii (*7) unworthy demonesses that wanted to be my mate."

"I never knew you liked me, whenever I looked at you your face was either blank, or you were scowling."

"I was being groomed to be a great demon lord, I was expected to have no emotions, Hell for you I would quit fighting with Inuyasha, if nothing else, I'd share you with him. We could all rule the Western lands!" He went down on his knees in front of her, "Just don't leave again."

She looked into his sincere golden gaze and realized as silver met gold that he was slowly lowering the walls that kept his emotions so thoroughly concealed. "Sesshomaru, there are things to be done in this world before I can even dream of settling down, least of all becoming a Lady."

"You can go where you want, do as you please, same with Inuyasha if he'll agree to this," His eyes were shining, "Just don't leave me...." he looked down at Inuyasha, "don't leave us."

Her mind was whirling with different emotions overloading her systems, "Sesshomaru, let me think on this, I cannot make such a decision so suddenly."

"That's fine, we can both travel with Inuyasha, you can help them find the sacred jewel shards."

"The sacred jewel shards....there is something else I must explain sometime soon, but for now it can wait. Hey Inuyasha's waking up!" She helped him sit with his back against a stone. "Inuyasha, how are you feeling?"

"Koneko?"

He reached out to touch her and flinched at the pain in his side, "Yes, it's me, I'm here."

He smiled until he say Sesshomaru behind her, "You get away from her!"

"Inuyasha, calm down, we've been talking, he didn't send me away." He looked at her quizzically, "I will explain later, until then we need to get you back to your friends and he is coming with us, he's going to help."

"Feh, like I'd trust him."

Her ears lowered, "I'm not asking you to trust him yet, I am asking you to trust me."

His eyes widened as he realized the earlier mistake, "Of course I trust you, Koneko, I'd follow you to the ends of the world."

She smiled, "You remembered, come on let's get you back to your friends."

They walked for a while with Koneko taking most of Inuyasha's weight off of his injured side, and finally found that Kagome and them had made camp to wait for him. Inuyasha was the first to be seen and Kagome jumped up, "Inuyasha you're o.k." She began towards him but stopped as Koneko and Sesshomaru entered with him. "Sesshomahe che can't fight right now and I am positive your honor wouldn't let you fight unfairly against family." She looked at Koneko and saw her arm around Inuyasha's waist, she had to fight off a glare before speaking again, "And who might you be?"

"My name is Seiteki (*8) Koneko (*9) Mitsukai (*10), but everyone calls me Koneko."

Shippou jumped up excitedly, "You're the one Inuyasha has so many good things so say about!"

Inuyasha bopped him on the head, "Shut it twerp."

Koneko giggled at the red blush that covered Inuyasha's cheeks, "Oh, but I want to hear more, Inu-chan."

Shippou snickered at the nickname and quickly ran to Koneko when Inuyasha began to chase him. Inuyasha stopped cold, "Yes I heard that you were the first one to throw him a birthday party, and to teach him how to use a sword..."

"Shippou..." the kit froze at the low growl coming from Inuyasha's throat.

"Oops, I just remembered....I need to finish that last rice cake I bought." He leapt down and sat beside the fire, eating his rice cake slowly, "Maybe you can make us some rice cakes...I hear they're the best."

Inuyasha took one step towards him and Koneko grabbed a hold of the prayer beads, stopping him in his tracks. "Inuyasha I've introduced myself, now how about introducing your friends?"

"Oh, um, this is Sango, she's a demon exterminator." Koneko raised an eyebrow but nodded her head in acknowledgment, Sango begrudgingly returned the greeting. "This is Miroku, the lecherous monk." He came towards her with the usual gleam and Inuyasha growled, "Touch her and die monk." Miroku sat back down. "This is Kagome..."

"Odd she looks like that Kikyou you were with..."

Kagome's eyes lit with anger, Inuyasha quickly continued, "And this is Shippou and Kiara, Shippou is the trouble maker that you've already met."

"Hi!!" He waved cheerfully despite the tense atmosphere. Kiara walked up to her and began rubbing against her ankles, surprising Sango completely.

Koneko looked at everyone anxiously, then at Inuyasha, he wanted her to stay so she couldn't really say no just because the humans of his group made her uncomfortable. So she sat down at the spot farthest away from them and Shippou climbed into her lap, adding fuel to Kagome's fire. Sesshomaru sat on her left, Inuyasha on her right, and Kiara sat in front of her.

"So, those two will be staying with us now?"

"Um, yes."

"O.k. but they'd better behave." She turned to call Shippou to go to sleep in her sleeping bag, only to find him asleep in Koneko's lap. Mumbling to herself she curled up to go to sleep, the other's followed shortly after.

Miroku was the first human to awake and the scene he saw would always be in his memories. The Great and feared Demon Lord of the Western Lands was being used as a pillow by Koneko, who was also playing with his tail in her sleep, Inuyasha was sleeping against her, absently stroking her tail in his sleep, Shippou was sprawled out, half on Koneko's lap and half on Inuyasha's lap, and Kiara was sleeping on her back with her tail swishing between Koneko's legs, causing her to giggle at random times in her sleep. Miroku chuckled and awoke Sango, with something other than the customary groping and both of them spent several moments chuckling.

A low growl stopped all laughter as their eyes met the irked gold ones of Sesaru,aru, "Shut up you bakas. Let them sleep, all that noise you are making is liable to wake them up with as sensitive as their ears are." He whispered harshly and they two quickly shut up.
