Return of the Damned

Several days after "the freeing" Inuyasha and Kagome are still trying to figure out what kind of relationship they have. They deeply love one another yet there is one thing that stands in their way: Kikyo Inuyasha's first love.
Inuyasha is sitting up in the branches of a tree pondering over this when suddenly he catches a familiar scent of strawberries. He smirks and looks down,
"Hello Kagome."
"Hello Inuyasha"
"Was that test thingy you took OK?"
"Oh my test, I had completely forgotten t tht that. Yeah it went just fine. And how did you know I was here I came from behind you."
"Your Shampoop, it has a very strong scent to it. I smelled it when you came out of the village."
Kagome stifles a laugh, "Its Shampoo, not poop. And I thought you liked the smell?"
"I never said I hated it," he says as he jumps down from his perch. "I love it as much as you its very intoxicating. No but its good to see you. God was it only a day I thought you had forgotten about me."
"Oh Inuyasha I could never forget about you."
Just as she finishes, she surprises him by leaning for and giving him a long soul kiss. She pulls back after a while and giggles at the dumbstruck look upon his face.
"See I can do it to you also. Come on I got a surprise for you Inuyasha" she says as she starts pulling him along back toward the village. He's slightly dazed from both thes ans and suddenly being pulled down the hill. As the near the bottom, Kagome turns off from the village and into the woods.
Where the hell is she taking me...?
They broke through the cover and came out into the clearing where the sacred god tree was. The tree that Kikyo had sealed him to for 50 years. At the base of the tree is a navy blue blanket with a basket on it. He's not sure at what is happening but he smells some food coming from the basket.
"Here we are."
"I know what here is but what with the blanket and the basket?"
"Don't you know what this is, oh wait that's right you don't. It’s a picnic Inuyasha."
"A picnic?"
“Yeah we sit on the blanket and we have a quite romantic meal all to ourselves. I choose here cause' this is where we first met."
"Oh OK then."
They made their way to the blanket and sat down. Kagome pulled a bunch of food that she thought Inuyasha might like and she laid it out. He couldn't believe it all. She made him try some of each, but he especially liked the cold thing she had called ice-cream. Kagome looked over at him while he ate some out of a bowl.
*Giggle*
He looked up to see her laughing at him.
"What is it? What's so funny?"
"You got a *Giggle* milk mustache!"
“A what?" He looked down and saw that some of the ice cream had melted and given him a white mustache of sorts on his upper lip. He saw nothing to wipe it on, and didn't want to ruin his uwiga.
'I'm not sure as "Here let me get that for you." Kagome said as she leaned in to him.
"What do you mean you'll get...?” Inuyasha was silenced as Kagome kissed him. He leaned into the kiss and Kagome quickly licked his mustache away before asking entrance into his mouth. He gave up and allowed her in. Reaching up behind him she grabbed the back of his head and pulled him in deeper. He mimicked her and pulled her back on to him. They broke the kiss and Kagome Just nuzzled his neck with hrms rms on his chest.
"Wow that was fantastic; I love your surprises so far."
"Thank you I rather like them my." Kagome suddenly stopped as the sky around them grew dark.
"Inu…Inuyasha what's going on." she stammered.
"I'm not sure but there's a powerful force nearby." He said as he gently rolled her off of him and stood up. He stood up with his hand on the hilt of tetsusaiga. Little lights started to come out of the forest, when they got close enough Inuyasha saw that they were soul collector demons. And that could mean only one thing!
"That's right Inuyasha," said a mysterious voice that came from no where. The soul collectors flung themselves together and make one brilliant light out of which stepped a small woman who looked almost exactly like Kagome.
"Kikyo..."
"Glad to know you haven't completely forgotten me Inuyasha. And you I thought I told you to stay in your own time. My sentiments were clear enough, and yet you dare defy me."
"Kikyo! Don't you ever speak or threaten Kagome like that again!"
"Oh so you've grown a spine have you Inuyasha, but I do not fear you. You wouldn't dare do anything to stop me now would you? Or don't you remember you love me." Kikyo spat at him arrogantly.
"You’re wrong! Inuyasha doesn't love you anymore. How could he ever love someone as heartless and evil as you?"
"Impudent bitch, I thought I told you to not trifle with my Inuyasha. Or wait.... What do you know about who he loves? *Laugh* Oh this is too perfect. My latter self is in love with my soul mate. He is mine, he always was and he always will be."
"...You’re wrong Kikyo."
Kikyo turned in surprise that wasn't her who said that, Inuyasha did!
"And you think you of all people Inuyasha could deny you love me. Don't make me laugh you have always cried and crooned about me. Just like the little lost dog that you are. We are soul mates it is destiny. It is you and I not her. And I'll prove it." She yelled as she jumped back. From out of no where she drew her bow and arrow.
"You will learn your place Inuyasha... at my side! And she will die now!"
Kikyo released her sacred arrow. It streaked toward Kagome who was still sitting on the blanket. There was no time for her to react or dodge it. All she could do is watch the arrow as its point followed along its path toward her heart.
CLASH
Just as the arrow passed by Inuyasha, he had drawn out the tetsusaiga. As the blade was drawn, it was transformed into its true form, a giant fang from Inuyasha father. Inuyasha had swung the blade so fast he was able to deflect Kikyo's tetsusaiga sacred arrow away from Kagome.
"What you stupid fool, no it can't be it can't be true. You swore to me that we were soul mates. So how is it that you can protect her?! Answer me Inuyasha!"
“Your right Kikyo, but your also wrong. I found my soul mate in you... But I found that soul which loved me back in Kagome. You and I were soul mates long ago. But when you died and sealed me to that tree the love we had died with you. Right soul, wrong women. I know you don't love me and only wish to cause me pain and suffering, as well as follow you into hell. But I refuse, and as long as I live I will always love Kagome. You were brought back from hell and now its time to release your soul once and for you to rest in peace, once and for all. Good-bye Kikyo"

With that Inuyasha turned away from Kikyo and walked over to help Kagome to her feet.
"Fine then if I can't have you then no one can. DIE INUYASHA!"
Kikyo let loose a flurry of arrows at Inuyasha's back. And this time he wouldn't be able to stop them. Then just as the arrows were about to hit... Something jumped in front of Inuyasha. It was ...Kagome. HE stood their terrified he heard the arrows hit and sink into her.
"KAGOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Stupid girl... Oh well next time I won't miss." Kikyo got ready to launch another volley.
Inuyasha was on the ground holding Kagome's head in his lap. "No Kagome why? Why did you do that, no I can't lose you? Not now not after I found happiness with Oh Oh please Kagome don't die."
As he held her head close to his and wept he noticed something odd. He didn't smell any blood on her! But that's impossible the arrows were sticking straight out of her chest, she should be covered in it Then it hit him. Kagome's arrows can only hurt evil. And since Kagome and Kikyo shared the same soul then that meant...
"Kagome please forgive me" Inuyasha apologized quickly as he slowly pulled out the arrows and yanked her shirt up over her head. There weren't any wound marks. The arrows hadn't touched her. Only hit her with enough force to knock her breath out and sending her into unconsciousness.
"Kagome please wake up... I love!" He bent down and captured her lips with his. He felt her pulse start to rise and he suddenly found her kissing him back.
"Oh thank God Kagome, I was afraid I had lost you."
"Don't worry I knew her arrows couldn't hurt me, and I love you too. I love you so much I just couldn't watch her kill you."
Standing still with her bow and arrows ready. Having not completely understood what happened. Kikyo couldn't believe the little bitch was still alive, and then it dawned upon her. "Because her soul and mine are one and the same then that means she absorbed what little is left of my soul. And without it I shall pass into hell." But it's not fair he should've died with me. Was this truly my destiny, for my hatred to consume me and to have her live my dreams? No, I shall not go easy. If I can't kill her, then I'll drag her into hell with me. Then Inuyasha will be forced to be with me...forever.
"No matter, I may not be able to kill you, but I'll still make Inuyasha suffer. What!?" Kikyo's soul stealers, now no longer under her control, start to envelop her and pull her down into a void. "No stop I command you, this isn't suppose to happen so soon. Damn you girl, you may get Inuyasha, but you'll both die at the hands of Nuraku. With all the power he got from the sacred jewel shards that I gave him, you shall both perish." And with her final breath before she was pulled into the void she let out a terrible shriek of laughter that shook the night sky.
...
A few minutes of silenced before Inuyasha released Kagome from her embrace and said anything.
"Kagome are you all right?"
"Yes, I think so...thank you Inuyasha." She said as she pulled herself back into his embrace.
"For what Kagome, I should be thanking you for saving me from Kikyo's arrows."
"For choosing me over Kikyo."
"Oh Kagome, there was no choice. I loved her long ago. But that was a different life and a different me. I'm only happy when you’re around. Kagome I love you."
"And I love you Inuyasha....uhh" Her head suddenly falling forward.
"Kagome, KAGOME... Oh she's just sleeping." It's not safe here; I'd better take her back to her own time. And with that Inuyasha picked her up in his arms rapped her up in the blanket and jumped back down the well.
...
Climbing up the other side well, with Kagome still in his arms. He quietly walked up out of the shrine and knocked on Kagome's front door. A few minutes later Kagome's mother came to the door. Honestly surprised to see them in the middle of the night. When she saw Kagome happily sleeping with her arms around his neck she quietly understood and showed him to her room. He laid her down and couldn't help but smile down at his love. He turned to leave when Kagome muttered in her sleep, "No Inuyasha doesn’t go...” He went over and kissed her on the cheek and took up a silent vigil in her window until dawn.
...
The next morning Inuyasha woke up around sunrise to find Kagome still sleeping. He awoke her with a kiss and she mumbled, "Inuyasha where, where are we?"
"Don't worry were at your home. Would you like to come watch the sunrise with me?"
"Yeah sure, I will" she said groggily.
She got up with her and joined him at the window. He unwrapped his outer robe and rapped it around the two of them as they gazed into the glorious morning.
...
From outside their door Kagome's little brother Sota was spying on them.
": Hmph... It's about time." And he walked off to go watch some cartoons. Leaving the couple to bask in the sun's warmth.
