Chapter 2: Numb
Inuyasha watched as Sango furiously scrubbed her body. Her tears and cries were like a dagger twising into his heart. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to tell her it was all a mistake, that he was more sorry than she could possibly imagine. But he knew that words alone wouldn't be enough to forgive him for his actions. Inuyasha knew that he had to talk to Sango even though he couldn't bring himself to look into her liquid brown eyes. Slowly, he got up, still tired from the actions that took place. The thought sickened and angered him at the same time. All he wanted to do was run off and never return. He couldn't bare to see the faces of the others when they learned of his actions. But he wouldn't run, at least not forever. He would face it.
Inuyasha shook the thoughts out of his head. He had to gather all of his composure to keep from breaking. He walked to the water's edge and watched Sango's tormented motions. He wished he were dead. With his head hung low, he whispered her name.
"Sango."
His voice was soft and full of anguish. Sango jumped at the mention of her name. She slowly turned around to face Inuyasha, not knowing what to expect. What she saw was him, standing at the edge of the water with his head down. His claws were covered with dirt and blood and his clothes were dirty and torn from his animal-like frenzy. Sango backed into the deeper end of the water, barely able to move her numbed body in the cold water. Hear heartbeat quickened and pulsed with fear as she stared at her attacker. Inuyasha raised his head and looked at Sango. She looked into his eyes and saw that the bloodthirsty red color that she once saw were now the soft amber eyes of her friend. He spoke to her again.
"Sango, I...I can't even begin to tell you how truly sorry I am." She gave a small flinch at the word 'sorry' and turned her back to him. She held herself with her arms and silently began to cry. Inuyasha saw her actions and silently cursed at himself. Sorry was what you said when you stepped on someone's foot, not when you've just brutally taken a virgin woman. But he didn't know any other words to say what he felt. He could hear her sobs almost ringing in his ears. The knife in his heart had just twisted itself ten times. He continued to talk.
"I know that what I did was out of my control, but I want you to know that I deeply regret it. I regret this with my whole soul and wish that there was something I could do to erase this whole thing....but I know that there isn't. I am not asking for you to forgive me because I can't bare to forgive myself. I want to do everything in my power to help you, to make you feel better, or to at least ease your pain in any way possible. Just tell me what you want me to do." He waited for her answer as she watched her body shake from the crying and the cold. Then, her sobs came to a slow stop. His ears perked up to listen for the slightest sound she made. And in a raspy, low tone, she spoke to him.
"Leave."
Inuyasha stood calm with all of his composure. He had expected her to say that and he was almost glad for it. He wanted to leave. No, he didn't want to leave, but he needed to leave. Sango spoke again and interrupted his thoughts.
"I know you weren't exactly yourself when...this...happened," her voice began to break as she talked, "but I don't know if I can forgive you or not. I just can't stand to be near you right now...I can't even look at you." Her last words were a whisper as tears streamed down her cheeks. She held herself tighter, trying to revive the feeling in her body. There was silence between them for a brief moment before Inuyasha answered her request.
"As you wish." He said in a low tone. Barely getting the words out, he lept to the trees and took off with amazing speed.
Sango waited a bit before she got out of the water. Her skinned burned from the numbness of the cold temperatures. She could barely walk to her clothes from her body being so weak and from the pain coming from her nether regions. She felt tired. She felt dizzy. Her body ached and her head was pounding. A voice was calling out to her but all she could hear was haze. And without warning, she colapsed, just inches from her clothes, and slipped out of consciousness.

A/N: Ok, first, I wanna say thanx to everyone who gave me a review. You guys really helped with the decision to continue this story. Anyway, I'm thinkin' this part was a lil predictable but I don't care. And I know it's a lil bit short but I really wasn't expecting that. All my chapters will probably end up that way. Oh well! I wasn't quite sure about where I wanted this story to go which was why it took a while for this chapter to come. But I have a pretty good idea and you can expect more chapters coming up soon. So, tell met yot you think of this chapter and I'll gladly get started on the next.
Ja Ne!
