He couldn’t help it. He had no one else to turn to. He refused to do anything but hold her though. No, he could never betray his Kagome. Though she wouldn’t know that. Not after what he had said to her. He continued his search, a desperate urgency rushing through his body. ‘ I’m going to find you Kagome! I’m not going to let anything happen to you!’

And that’s when it hit him. Kagome’s scent, the scent that had always been a life line to him over the past couple of months. He increased his speed if that was at all possible, but he almost tripped as another smell hit his nose. Clay and earth. He slowed his pace, jumping down from his tree, only to see a small clearing ahead. He knew the two smells were emitting from there, and hid behind a tree.

Kagome lay in the middle of the clearing, the tall grasses swirling around her small form as she tried, for the millionith time today to dry her tears.

“ Get up.” A cold, and all to familiar voice demanded. It was the voice Kagome most needed not to hear, as tears started emitting from her eyes once again.

“ Go away, bitch!!” she managed between silent sobs, as she closed her eyes tightly, not even willing herself to look at the horrible woman above her.

“ I’ve only come for what I deserve, and this time I’m going to get it. There’s no Inuyasha to save you now. Give me back my soul. It’s mine.”

Fear made Kagome react as she sat up quickly the fear etched on her face. “ Y-You want my soul!?” She stood up quickly, fists straight and stiff at her sides. “ I-I am not going to give you my soul! It’s mine! Your just a dead bitch who has been taking advantage of my feelings for a long time! You know I love Inuyasha! You know perfectly well I would give up anything to be with him! But giving up my soul is not one of them To you anyway! But consider yourself the better one. Besides the fact that your dead, cold, and ruthless, he still loves you! Loves you more than he’ll ever love me. No matter how much I try to show him that I’d always be there for him..” her voice suddenly hushed, getting quite as she went on. She had never fully admitted this to anyone..her conscious not counting. “ Never let him fall….” But suddenly her voice came back, full force, as she set hard angry eyes on the woman in front of her, “ show him that he doesn’t need to be a human for my affection, or for anything in life! He’s perfectly fine the way he is! You’re the one who made him so damn un confident! You and those nasty people in the world who shun difference!”

Kikyou’s cold smile continued to turn up at the corners as Kagome went on with her little outburst. But when she finished she just stepped closer. “ I don’t care about you. Yes, he loves me, and he always will. That’s why I am getting you out of the way. So you and your petty emotions can’t get in the way of us anymore. The feudal miko raised her hands, a eerie blue light illuminating their shape and form as it pulsed. “ Sayonara.”

Now this whole time, Inuyasha had just about been crying. All the things Kagome had said, for the exception of how much he loved kikyou, had been correct. She did love him. The thought had always been there in the back of his mind. Every time he was around the girl her scent changed dramatically. Kikyou had always wanted him to be a human. And Kagome had taught him that it was alright to be a hanyou. And that he could do anything he wanted to do! She loved him to him for him! And he couldn’t let her die! No, he wouldn’t let kikyou do tha KIK KIKYOU!!! STOP!!!!!!!”
