Who or What is Kagome?

disclaimer: *heavy sigh* I still don't own any of the Inuyasha characters.....

An hour later....

Kagome sat up slowly. Her headache was gone and she stood up. She looked back at the two kids sleeing peacefully. "I'll be back in a few." She whispered quietly. She walked towards the forest. *I wonder where Inuyasha is. He hasn't bothered me all afternoon.* Kagome walked through the forest and came across the God Tree. She looked up into the tree branches and found Inuyasha sitting up high. *Is he sleeping?*

"Hey! Inuyasha! Are you sleeping?" She called up to him. After a few minutes he jumped down.

"I was."

"Oh. Kay. I was just wondering where you were. I hadn't seen you since this morning. I'm going to check on Shippo and Rin now." Kagome smiled warmly at Inuyasha and headed back to where the children were sleeping. Except they were awake when she got to them. Inuyasha followed behind her as she stopped.

"Kagome! We were wondering where you went!"

"Well I found Inuyasha asleep in a tree. That's all."

"Oh." Shippo said.

"Let's play tag now!" Rin chirped and jumped up.

"Yeah! Come on Kagome!" Shippo said pulling Kagome by the arm.

"I think not." All four looked up to see who had spoken. It was Inuyasha's older half brother Sesshomaru. Inuyasha jumped in front of Kagome and the two children and drew his sword. But Rin smiled, squealed and ran out from behind him.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" She hugged his legs tightly.

"Inuyasha. I did not come here to fight as you can see. I came to get Rin and make an alliance."

"You want an alliance? With me?! Why should I agree?!" Inuyasha yelled.

"If we work together, then we can kill Naraku. You seem to know much about him. That is why I ask for an alliance"

"After all the times ya tried to steal my sword, how do I know this ain't a trap?" Inuyasha's anger was building.

"I care nothing for the sword. You need it more than I."

"Feh. What kind of alliance?"

"I will help you in battles and when you battle against Naraku. I will also protect you and your comrades when they are on my lands."

"And what do you want from us?" Inuyasha asked.

Sesshomaru ignored him and turned to Rin. "Rin. Why are you with them?"

"Kagome saved me from wolves! I stayed with them because I didn't know where you were."

"Hmm. Well then. That solves a problem. You now owe me nothing in return because you saved Rin. Do you accept?"

"We accept your alliance, Sesshomaru." Kagome stood next to Inuyasha.

"Dammit Kagome! We don't need his help!"

"Oh excuse me! We need all the help we can get to kill Naraku! Sesshomaru is strong. He can help us."

"He could be lying dammit!"

"I don't think he is. From what I've learned, powerful demons do not lie. With the exception of Naraku."

"Your woman is smarter than you dear brother." Sesshomaru stated.

"She ain't my woman! And I guess we can make an alliance."

"Good. You have my promise as the Lord of the Western Lands. You will have my protection on my lands and aid in battle when you need it." With that said He flew off on his cloud with Rin standing right next to him.

Kagome had told Kaede, Sango, and Miroku of their new alliance with the demon lord. They too thought it strange but accepted his alliance. They grabbed their things and headed off in searh of some more jewel shards. After several hours they had come across a boar demon with a shard embedded in his forehead. The demon was easy to kill and Kagome purified the shard. They decided they would camp there for the night.

"Sango would you like to join me in a bath?"

"I took one while you were gone this morning. I'll make sure that no perverts are watching." Sango replied.

"Kay." Kagome grabbed her bag and walked towards the hotspring. *I didn't realize the spring was this far away from camp.* Kagome thought as she sat her bag down. She stripped down quickly and climbed into the warm water. She washed her hair with some of her shampoo and dried off. She brushed her teeth and headed back to camp. After a quick dinner everyone fell asleep. Except for Inuyasha who leaned against a tree watching over everyone.

Sesshomaru watched as the girl made her way to the spring. He sniffed the air and found her scent was very pleasing. *Like jasmine and lavender.* He also smelled as well as sensed the demons that were surrouding there area. They could sense her pureness and the jewel shards.

*Demons are drawn to her. They act like she's the purest thing in this world. She probably is. That's why they are drawn to her. But isn't that why I, Lord Sesshomaru, am drawn to her too? Isn't she the main reason I made that alliance with my stupid half-breed brother? Yes. Ever since she kissed me when she was drunk...and before that even, I've been having strange feelings for her.*

Sesshomaru jumped from his tree branch and killed all the demons that wereing ing to get the girl. He made sur that she made it back to the safety of the camp before taking off.

They had made some progress in collecting shards. Since the first one they had collected three more in five days. They were about to get their forth and fifth one. But this battle was proving to be quite a chalenge. They were fight against several demons. Inuyasha was making his way to the leader as was Miroku and Sango. Kagome stood back fireing her arrow at the demons that snuck up on her friends. They had killed many but for each one destroyed, two replaced them by just popping out of the ground.

Four of five were charging at Kagome. She shot her sacred arrow and killed them. She failed to see the two that had snuck up behind her. One grabbed at her ankle and began pulling her into the ground until she was lifted high into the air. Kagome looked up startled at her rescuer. It was Sesshomaru.

"Sesshomaru? W-why did you save me?" She forgot about their alliance temperarily.

"Besides the alliance, I wanted to." He answered truthfully. Kagome smiled slightly then hugged him tight. Sesshomaru was taken aback at first but then he lowered both of them to the ground. The battle was finally over and Kagome ran over to pick the two shards up. As soon as she touched them she purified them.

"Thank you Sesshomaru for helping us." Kagome smiled brightly. He nodded and left.

"What did he do?" Inuyasha asked angrily.

"Well while you, Sango, and Miroku were fighting, I was killing off some demons that stood in your way. A couple took me by surpirse and Sesshomaru saved me."

"I guess he wasn't kidding about the alliance then, huh?" Miroku asked as he moved to stand between Kagome and Sango. Both girls stiffened and moments later there was an unconscious Miroku lying on the ground with two bright red hand prints on each cheek.

"Miroku? When will you ever learn?" Inuyasha sighed. They continued walking to find a clearing and set up camp. Kagome and Sango headed towards the springs to wash the blood from them. After about ten minutes they both heard rustling in the bushes. Both blushed as Kagome yelled 'SIT' and Sango threw her hiraikotsu. Inuyasha slammed into the ground, half in the bushes, half out, while Miroku fell on top of him.

"PERVERTS!!!" Kagome and Sango shrieked. After they had finally left, Sango got out and got dressed. "Coming?"

"No Sango. I think I will stay for just a bit longer." Kagome replied as Sango nodded and left the spring. Kagome turned around and went completely under water. She waited a few moments before coming back up for air. "Ahh...." Kagome sighed and looked up at the moon through the tree branches. "I wonder what Mamma was talking about.....what will happen on my 17th birthday? I guess I'll find out soon. Seeing as its only two days away...."

She stared at it for a few more minutes before looking away. "I should get out now....." She said looked down at her hands which were starting to wrinkle. She threw on her clothes and walked back to camp to go to sleep.
