Chapter Two: Showing the Signs

Inuy wok woke up with terrible pain in his stomach. He felt so sick he hoped he could make it to the bushes outside in time. He staggered out of the hut and ran for them vomiting.

"Damn," he said weakly. "What's wrong with me?" He coughed and lost his lunch again. Finally, it was over as the sun began to rise. He sat down on his porch to rest and sighed. Two weeks had passed since Kikyo left him. He was over the hurt, but since the day after she left, he was left physicalick.ick.

"I wish someone could tell me what the hell is going on," he sighed. "I never felt this sick in my entire life!" He walked inside his hut to fix breakfast, but suddenly hesitated to eat anything that would make him sick again. So it was oatmeal and milk that morning. After eating, he walked to his village and felt sick again. He ran to the woods and threw up causing some of the villagers to wonder if something was going around or what. A man walked to him when he was finished and laid a hand on his shoulder. "Lord Inuyasha, perhaps you should see our doctor," he suggested. "I don't know what he could do for me," Inuyasha sighed. But the suggestion was a good idea. He walked in the doctor's hut and sighed. "Lord Inuyasha, this is a surprise," the doctor said. "I need you to help me," Inuyasha said.

The man frowned as he studied the hanyou. "You never get sick," he pointed out. "I've been throwing up for two weeks and have pain near my stomach," Inuyasha sighed. "Have you been under stress?" the doctor asked examining Inuyasha's glands in his throat. "Not like the usual," Inuyasha said. "Remove your clothes and lie down for me," the doctor said. "I need to check your stomach and see what's wrong."

Inuyasha frowned, but did as he was told. "Hold still," the doctor said pressing on his stomach in several areas frowning deeply. He continued pressing when he found a small lump near the hanyou's stomach. He knew what it was instantly. "You may put your clothes back on," he said. While Inuyasha was dressing, the doctor was struggling to think of how to tell him the news. "Inuyasha, I know you're half demon and all, but there's something you should know," he said. Inuyasha's copper eyes rose suddenly as his short attention span kicked in. "What is it?" he asked. "Well..." the doctor said and hesitated for a moment. "You're pregnant."

"I'm pregnant?!" Inuyasha asked in shock. "I've dealt with many pregnant women and know how it is," the man said. "You're three weeks pregnant." It was three weeks that day that Kikyo left him. Suddenly, he realized what happened and swallowed hard. "I want you to start coming here every month," the doctor said. "Until this child is born, we have to take things easy." Inuyasha nodded struggling with the news. "I'm gonna have a baby," he whispered. "But I'm only seventeen." "You've raised yourself since you ran away from your brother," the man said seriously. "With the skills you know and other things, this child will have a good home with you." "I hope so," he sighed and left.

Inuyasha thought he was in a dream and he'd wake up soon. But a sharp pain caused him another trip to the bushes and he realized this was real. A month later, his morning sickness had disappeared and he felt better. The doctor checked his progress and smiled. "It's growing well and you seem to be doing well yourself," he said. "I've come to the conclusion that this is my child and I will raise it with all the love and attention it deserves no matter what the costs," he said seriously. "I like that attitude," the doctor said proudly. "That's what I like to hear out of an expectant parent single or married." Inuyasha smiled then.

At five months, Inuyasha was showing signs of his pregnancy. His stomach started pushing out and the child he carried was very active. When he slept, he woke up feeling something kick him hard. It was his baby letting him know that it was goi going to give him any sleep. The doctor looked at Inuyasha feeling how active the baby was. "You must be raising a little version of yourself in there," he teased. Inuyasha chuckled. "That's what I think at times," he admitted. "You know, I can tell you what you're having," the doctor said seriously. \?" ?" Inuyasha asked. "Certain positions of children mean male or female," the doctor said. (A/N: Don't I wish? I'm a mom and had to have ultrasound to figure out what my twins were!). "I can check and tell you if you're having a boy or girl." "How accurate is this?" Inuyasha said raising an eyebrow. "50-50," the doctor chuckled. "Seriously, it's pretty accurate." Inuyasha sighed and nodded. "I have my own ways," he said. "Just by the scent of my pregnancy, I can tell the sex of the child. I'm having a girl."

"Your firstborn is to be a daughter," the doctor said smiling. "Yep," Inuyasha said sitting up. "I didn't really care what it was as long as it was healthy, but when I started catching this fenimine smell with my pregnancy, I realized it was telling me I'm having a girl." "Have you settled on a name?" the doctor asked. "Yasha Sierra," Inuyasha said. "If I had a last name, she'd have that, but he first name is Yasha as part of my namesake and her middle name is for my favorite place to sit and think near the river called the Sierra." The doctor smiled. "I wanted to talk to you about the birth," he said. "Her due day is during the blizzard month. (A/N: January) I need you to stay here after next month so the child can be delivered." Inuyasha sighed and nodded. "I understand," he said. "Right now, I want my daughter to be healthy."
