Wolf on the Loose
Kagome bounds along, crashing through the woods, acting on pure animal instinct. Nothing can stop her wild rampage, not even Inuyasha. She smells him a mile away. She narrowly avoids crashing into him, leaping into the air, landing in the woods behind him and running on and on and on. As she makes her leap, Inuyasha stares at her in awe, wondering where she came from and what she was.
“What the hell is THAT?” However, since the giant wolf does not seem interested in attacking him, he lets it go. He looks around, confused. “Kagome is somewhere nearby.” He frowns. “And Kouga.” Damn. My nose is already starting to fail me. I can’t pinpoint where they are.
Kougas pas past him, slower than usual. Inuyasha screams at him. “Where are you going, you bastard? Where’s Kagome? How dare you grab her and run off like a coward!” He runs after him. “Come back here and face me!”
Kouga sneers at him. “I don’t have time for you now, mutt. Besides, what are you mad about? I thought you could handle Naraku’s flunkies by yourself.”
Inuyasha growls at him. “Well YOU sure weren’t any help! Now where’s Kagome?”
A wolf howl echoes over the mountain. AAAAARRRRRRROOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!
Kouga snarls back at him. “She’s where THAT came from.”
Inuyasha glares at him. “That giant wolf took her?”
Kouga glares back. “No, stupid. She IS the wolf!”
Inuyasha: “WHAT? What the hell did you do to her?”
Kouga: “I gave her a moon stone to help her leg heal.”
Inuyasha: “Let me guess, the moon stone turns people into wolf youkai?”
Kouga: “That was an unexpected side effect.”
Inuyasha: “Well you should know what things do before you use them on Kagome, don’tcha think, STUUU-PID?”
Kouga: “Shut up, mutt! If you hadn’t let her get injured, this wouldn’t have happened!”
Inuyasha: “ARRGHH! Stop running so I can kill you!”
Suddenly, Kouga does stop, kicking up quite a bit of dirt in doing so. He stops just in time to avoid falling off a cliff. Inuyasha is not so lucky. He slides down the hill and over the edge. He draws his sword and jams it into the rocky cliff, dangling from it, trying to get a foothold.
Kouga peers over the edge. “See you around, mutt face!”
Inuyasha: “DAMN YOU, YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!!!!!” He digs his claws into the rocky cliff, trying desperately to work his way back up.
BAARRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
He looks down to see the giant wolf sitting by a pool of water. “Kagome!” He frowns. “Damn it.” Grasping the rock as tightly as possible with his claws, he pulls his sword out of the rock and leaps down, praying the water is more than a foot deep.
SPLASH!
He bobs up out of the water, only to be greeted by the enormous snarling wolf. “Kagome!” Her hair stands up and she growls at him. “Kagome… what’s wrong with you? Have you forgotten who I am?” She flattens her ears against her head and opens her mouth slightly, prepared to fight. “Kagome, I don’t want to fight you.” She growls and backs away.
“Kagome!” Kouga leaps out of a tree onto her back, grabbing hold of her mane. She snarls and bucks, trying to bite him. He grabs hold of the necklace, but she kicks him off anompsomps on his chest before taking off again.
“I think she’s mad at you.” Inuyasha sneers at Kouga. “Did she bite your leg, too? Serves you right.” He runs after Kagome. Kouga staggers to his feet and joins the chase once more.
Inuyasha: “Just let me handle this, okay? You’ve done enough damage for one day.”
Kouga: “I don’t understand how this happened. The stone gets its power from the moon. There’s no way this metamorphosis could have occurred NOW… She must be drawing on power from somewhere else.”
Inuyasha: “The jewel shards… they must be interacting with the moon stone. Ugghh. We have to stop her fast!” Once the sun sets, I can’t fight!
Kouga: “This time, mutt, I’ll have to agree with you. My injuries are slowing me down too much. She knows I’ll keep following her. She wants to wear me down before she doubles back for the kill.”
Inuyasha: “What?”
Kouga: “The stone… has driven her mad… it’s making her lust after more power… she said she would eat my heart to gain mine…”
Inuyasha laughs. “If Kagome kills you, it’s your own fault.”
The two of them leap over a rise and are greeted by the enormous she-wolf on the other side. She growls at them fiercely, then begins to stalk Kouga.
Kouga: “Inuyasha, cut the chain around her neck while I distract her.”
Inuyasha grunts in agreement. However, Kagome anticipates his attack and moves with lightning speed, goring Kouga with her fang. Kouga falls to the ground, unable to fight any further. Kagome opens her jaws as if to devour him, fangs dripping with saliva and blood, but halts when Inuyasha calls to her.
Inuyasha whips a pebble at her nose. “Kagome, don’t!”
She yelps in surprise and runs away again.
Inuyasha: “Damn it.”
Kouga, lying on the ground in considerably bad shape, calls out to Inuyasha. “Inuyasha, why did you stop her? You could have cut the chain while she was busy ripping me apart.”
Inuyasha: “Don’t be stupid. How would Kagome feel if she woke up covered in your blood? If she knew she had killed someone, she wouldn’t be able to live with herself.”
Kouga smirks. “Right. Then it’s up to you to stop her. My pack will find me soon enough, but you’re the only one strong enough to stop Kagome now.”
Inuyasha nods and begins running again. I just hope I can do it before the sun sets.
He catches up to her (it’s hard to miss the trail of a giant wolf) fairly quickly.
They cover a great deal of territory, until finally they end up in a narrow canyon with walls too high to jump.
Kagome has no choice but to turn and fight. She growls at Inuyasha. He holds out his empty palms and approaches her slowly. “Kagome, it’s me, Inuyasha. Don’t you remember? That necklace is controlling you. If you let me take it off, you’ll be okay again. At least I hope you will…” He looks at her sadly. “Please, Kagome. Let me help you.”
Kagome perks her ears up at something and lets out a distressed bark, then snarls at something behind Inuyasha. He is forced to lookind ind him, his nose sniffing the air to no avail. Only minutes till sundown.
“INUYASHA!!!” Two giant boars paw the ground in anticipation. “WE’VE COME TO TAKE YOUR LIFE.”
“This day just keeps getting better and better.” He crouches, preparing to leap at them. “Iron claw soul stealer!” He slashes at them, but is surprised to see how thick their hides are. They don’t seem to notice his attack any more than a bug bite. He goes for an eye, and manages to partially blind one of the pigs. But then… the sun sets. Inuyasha’s demon features disappear into the shadows. Damn. I’m out of time.
Inuyasha screams and draws Tetsusaiga, which of course, will not transform for him. He attacks anyway, in desperation, aiming for another eye. He sends his sword deep into the pig’s skull, cutting into its brain. The boar sinks to its knees. However, when Inuyasha withdraws the sword, the second boar catches him with its tusk, first smashing him up against the first boar’s skull, then seg hig him flying to the ground. The boar runs up to trample him, but Kagome appears over him, snarling at the boar and licking her lips. She leaps on the boar’s back, sending her fangs deep into its neck, holding on for dear life. She maneuvers her weight around and flips the pig onto its back, then bites into the softer part of its neck, clamping down and strangling the beast tath.ath. After a few minutes, it stops moving.
