Chapter Two

The one she seeks!

Miroku, Sango and Inuyasha spread out as the others charge for them. Miroku defending himself against the bear demon called Bjorn, while the female demon charges forgo. go. Inuyasha and Enyeto are standing face to face, Enyeto starts to laugh when Inuyasha withdrew his sword. "I hope you are fast Pup or you won't hit anything with that ragged looking thing." Inuyasha laughs back at him when he gives a little shake of his wrist and his sword grows in size. "I will gladly take you down with one swing of this sword Bear Demon from hell." With that, Inuyasha swings his sword to come strait down throwing flashes of light blinding to the demon in front of him. Enyeto though blind could sence the danger and quickly jumped out of the way. "I don't know the magic you use but it will fail this day." Enyeto chuckled. "Get the girl," He commands as he walks backwards from Inuyasha. "No since in fitting when we have what we came for." With that said Bjorn leaps in the air above Miroku to charge at Kagome and Avagail. Miroku quickly slides in between Bjorn and the girls.

"I think not." Miroku says as he whacks the tiny Bear demon on the head. No sooner, then that is done Inuyasha and Sango come to stand on either side of Miroku.

"Fine you win this round but I have her sent now and I will etch that beauty in my brain." Enyeto licks his lips. "Until I taste her blood." Avagail shivers under the stare he gives her before backing away. "They won't protect you forever." He announces before disappearing in a cloud of dust.

"Oh my." Avagail says before her body goes limp falling towards the ground. "Opps" Miroku smiles down at her as he catches her frail form before it hits. "I think she fainted."

"Duh." Inuyasha turns to walk away. "You get smarter by the day Miroku."

The elder gentleman that runs the bread cart is the first to run out and bow to Inuyasha. "Thank you. Thank you all for saving us."

"No problem." Inuyasha brushes him off as he walks past.

"My I offer you someplace to rest for the evening and some food maybe."

"No I think...."

"That would be wonderful" Kagome interrupts Inuyasha who turns with a disgruntled look and a quirked brow. "There are five of us now and a couple of ... ummm...." Kagome leans over to whisper in his ear. "Pets."

"Very we The The man smiles "if you will follow me I will lead you to my home."

Kogame steps in line to follow the man and waves for everyone to follow. Miroku pulls up the rear of the line as he carries the fainted Avagail in his arms. "Want me to carry her Miroku."

"Thank you Inuyasha but she light way to light for a normal human." Miroku looks down to the pale skinned girl lying limply in his arms. "I fear she may be sick."

The man opens the door to lead them to one large room, in the far corner there sits one lonely table with some pillows around it for sitting and a couple of mates lay on the floor. Miroku carries Avagail over to lay her down on one of the mates. "I will bring your dinner in a while and some more bedding if you would like."

"Yes I think we will need more bedding but do not bother yourself on a big dinner kind sir." Miroku turns to him and stands with a smile.

"It will be no bother at all. Will your friend be ok she really is a lovely young lady."

"I think she will be fine she seems to be under nourished at the moment though." Miroku looks back down at Avagail as she stirs and rolls to her side.

"Yes well I thought that earlier when she came to my cart for bread. Very well then I shall return." The man leaves sliding the door shut behind him.

"I wonder why those Demons were after her?" Sango sits down on one of the pillows surrounding the table. "She is a weak child."

"Easy pray in their eyes." Inuyasha snorts with a tinge of anger. "Demons like that gripe my every nerve they find the weakest being they can and target it."

There comes a light tap at the door. "Yes" Miroku calls and the door slides open to reveal a tall medium built boy about 20 years old with shoulder length dark black hair and deep dark brown eyes. "I am Damalis." He bows before entering I have brought you some more bedding." He sets it down and turns to leave "I will be back shortly with your supper."

Every one settles down on the pillows that surround the tiny table, except for Miroku who heads toward the door. "I think I will see if they need help." He smiles back at everyone.

"Yeah right perv you ain't foolen no one you want to hit on some of the village girls." Inuyasha snorts, Kagome, and Sango shake their heads in agreement giving him a glare.

Miroku sighs heavy. "You guys really think that little of me."

"We think highly of you Monk. We just know ya." Inuyasha turns his head he is done with the conversation now. He will be damned if anyone will get two compliments from him in one day.

"Thank you Inuyasha." Miroku smiles as he slides the door open. "OH Damalis I am sorry I almost ran you over." Miroku steps aside to let him pass. "I will return." Miroku says cheerfully as he exits.

"I have brought you all some drink." Damalis smiles e cre crosses the room to place a tray on the table. "I will return with the food shortly" he reminds them as he exits the room.

"Damalis." Miroku calls from the shadows of the trees. "May I ask you something."

"What?" Damalis turns to him with a smile.

"Do you know what those Demons wanted earlier."

"I am afraid not. My father said something about wanting that girl that is in your company the one sleeping."

"Do you know where she comes from."

"I am afraid I have to give the same answer kind Monk. I only know that she showed up and shortly after the Demons and then you and your friends." Damalis smiles as he turns to walk away.

"Bahaudeen" Avagail mumbles in her sleep as she tosses and turns, tears fall silently rolling down her cheek.

"I don't believe it." Inuyasha snorts as he sniffs the air.

"What is something wrong." Kagome asks.

"That girl is crying in her sleep."

"Oh!" Kagome looks over with a worried look. "I bet it's a bad dream."

"It would have to be to make you cry while sleeping."

"NO! Bahaudeen don't leave me." Avagail shouts as she shoots straight up into a sitting position. Cupping her hands quickly over her face to weep once again her body starts to shiver. "I didn't think I had any tears left." She says aloud unknowing of her audience. "Wait... What happened." She uncovers her face to look over at Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Kirara, and Inuyasha. "You... you saved my life." She hangs her head. "Thank you. I must complete my mission before my death."

"Mission huh, so tell me why were those Demons after you." Inuyasha practically barks at the poor thing.

Kagome gives him a dirty look as she rises, heading over to Avagail "Don't mind him he is a bit of a grump." She kneels in front of her, hands her something to drink, and pulls a blanket up over her shivering shoulders.

"Thank you." Avagail gives a fake smile as she takes a drink of the hot tea. "As for those Demons this day was the first time I have ever saw them, however the way they talked..." Avagail strays off in thought.

"What!" Inuyasha snaps "Go on."

"I think they are the ones that killed my village and now they want me for what I really don't know. I wasn't even there doing the fight I had went for a walk and got lost in the woods but when I got back they were all dead" Avagail tries hard to fight the swelling tears "They spared no one." She dropped her head again as tears fell from her eyes to tap lightly on her Kimono. "I am sorry you people must have your own concerns and here I am I going on about mine."

"No... don't be silly." Kagome reaches over and brushes her hair behind her ear. "We want to listen."

"So what's your important mission?" Inuyasha asks with a civil tongue.

"When I returned My Bahaudeen was still alive, though badly wounded his last request of me was to deliver something to someone. I am not sure what that something is and I have never met the one that I am to deliver it to. However, I did make the promise. My Bahaudeen was a Monk of the Amedos temple in the eastern lands. He only came home six months prier to the massacre of our village. That has been a year ago but in my mind I see it asI juI just walked through all the carnage yesterday." Avagail stops talking trying to fight the tears cursing herself for wanting to cry she takes in a deep breath and lets it out again. "I am looking for another Monk that Bahaudeen had traveled with for two years." She giggles. "He so adored this Monk and he would talk of him often how wise and noble he was I came to love his stories no matter how many times he repeated them I loved to hear of their travels together."

"Do you know the Monks name?" Kagome asks as she refills Avagail's tea.

"His name I will never forget I have cursed it everyday for a year. I hate him for not coming to help I hate him for letting Bahaudeen die like that. He always said that This great Monk of his was a noble man and protector of his friends yet." Avagail broke down again as the tears fell freely from her eyes.

"I am sure he would have come if he would have known." Kagome places a comforting arm on her shoulder.

"You are right, I have been blaming him for the need to blame someone. Now I know who really did it but my hate for him as built so much over the year that I am afraid it is to late to think more of him."

"So what is his name?" Inuyasha asks as the door slides open to the room.

"Miroku." Avagail answers and Inuyasha falls over as Kogame and Sango look in disbelief.

"Yes." Miroku answers the call of his name as he enters the room.
