The Shrine Tour
This chapter is basically the intro. Some chapters may be short, I am having a problem with AOL kicking me off. But please read and review.
Mrs. Higurashi stood before her father. "I can't believe you told those people they could come here. Of all the stupid ideas to allow that group here. What if Kagome comes home. How are you going to explain her coming out of the well house."
"There is no need to worry. Kagome left yesterday to return to the Feudal Era. She won't be back for days. In the meantime I'm going to make a little extra money for the family. They'll only be here for an hour. Its just a bunch of college kids." He crossed his arms over his chest. "Besides, its nice that foriegners are taking an interest in our culture. You should be proud of your heritage."
"Gramps, you know I'm not." She tried another approach. "What are we to do if Kagome's dog friend decides to make a visit? How are we going to explain that?"
"They shouldn't be back for days. You'll see everything will go smoothly. I stake my reputation as a priest on it." He puffed his chest out proudly.
"Great," She walked back into the house. "For once I hope Kagome doesn't return home too soon."
She would never understand grandpa.
The bus arrived forty minutes later. Twenty american college students stepped off the transport. The once calm serene Higurashi shrine turned into a mad house in a matter of minutes. "Everyone, please gather around. I have a few announcements." Mrs. Small, their instructor stated. "Please, the family was nice enough to let us visit the shrine. We need to remember our manners. And please don't destroy anything. It would be a shame to waste this opportunity." She saw one of her students lagging behind. "Sonya, please don't lag behind."
"I'm coming. Don't get your panties in a knot." Sonya lit her cigerette. "I don't see whats so great about some old shrine anyways." She followed the rest of the students up the stairway which led to the shrine. As soon as she cleared the top she had to admit that the place had a calm peaceful look to it. Not bad, she thought to herself. Not my cup of tea but it has some charm. She spotted an elderly man with a broom greeting Mrs. Small. She took the opportunity to take in all the buildings. She noticed what looked like the main house. Then she saw what had to be the shrine. There was also what looked to be a storage building. She almost missed it but in the back of the yard was an small building. Not very large. Just a tad bit bigger than an outhouse. 'Hmm. wonder whats in there.'
The students were following Mrs. Small now. "Come this way, please." Sonya was in the back of the group so she was the last to pass the old man. "Howdy, gramps." The next thing she knew she had some kind of paper slapped to her forehead.
"Stay back demon." He brought another ward up ready to slap it on. "My sacred ward will stop you from causing any harm."
"What's your sitch?" She snatched the scroll off her face. "Don't you know its rude to slap paper at people." She glared at the old man. "Do I look like a demon to you?"
"If you're not a demon then what are you?" He looked the girl over.
Sonya stared at the old man. Then she took a minute to remember where she was. I guess I do look a little weird to him. She took in her own appearance. Her shoulder length blonde hair was probably a little out of place. But the problem probably was with the purple streaks. Not to mention her purple contacts. Okay okay, she guessed the pierced tongue and belly ring didnt help matters either. It was probably a good thing the old man couldn't see her tatoos. "Look old man, you slap me with one of those papers again. I'm going to reem you a new asshole, got it."
"My word, such a foul child." He backed away from her.
"Good, now if you'll excuse me I gotta catch up with my class." She took off in the direction her classmates were in. "I can see this is going to be a long day." She followed as Mrs. Small went over the differences in culture. She walked behind not paying any attention to the lecture. The air was starting to get a bit chilly and she suddenly wished shed worn more than her red tank top. She was thankful that she atleast worn her jeans. They were hip huggers so a good portion of her stomach showed but it went well with her leather boots. No wonder the old geezer stared at her. She noticed that Mrs. Small passed the smallest building. "Hmm time for me to do some exploring of my own."
She broke off from the group and headed towards the small shack.
This chapter was kind of short next one will be longer. Please read and review.
