Desire

Chapter 2

He felt her pull away from him. Slitting his eyes he watched as she rose and began getting dressed. His heart fell. She was leaving returning to her era. He sat up and watched her pulling on his yukata and haori. "Leaving?" he asked trying hard to keep the pain from his voice. She froze but didn't turn, finally she nodded. He swallowed back the tears that threatened. 'Damn it.' he thought, 'I won't let her see my tears. "Stay." the word burst from his lips before he could stop it.

Kagome hadn't been able to look at him, she had hoped he wouldn't awake, but he had. At his first question she nodded not trusting her voice. She wanted nothing more than to remain here with him. A few moments later a request came. How she wanted to honor it yet she shook her head remaining silent.

He wanted to beg her to stay. He seemed to watch from the sidelines as his usual reaction took hold. Anger. "Feh, stupid wench." He muttered to himself standing to pull on his hakama. "Fine, I'll walk you back to the well, wouldn't want some stray youkai to cart you off. Or maybe you'd like that. Maybe you came back to fuck all the youkai you met fifteen years ago." His tirade stopped as her hand collided with his cheek.

"You bastard." she hissed. "How dare you."

"How dare I what? Speak my mind? Not be the good little puppy, who fucks you and lets you walk away?" His voice rising in volume. "Maybe it didn't mean anything to you, but it sure as hell did to me." Realizing what he'd said Inu Yasha started off towards his hut.

Kagome was stuned. She watched as he started away from her. "Hell no you're not." she muttered.
"OSUWARI." She watched as the rosary activated pulling him to the ground. The familiar muttered curses came from the prone figure in red. Walking up to him she knelt beside him. In a calmer voice she spoke, "It meant a lot to me too, Inu Yasha. I'm sorry for using the rosary, but you are sure as hell going to explain that last statement. Even if I have to say it a hundred times to get it out of you."

As the spell released he sat up. He kept his eyes on the ground in front of him. 'Damn, what am I a pup?' he thought angrily. 'Should have kept my fucking mouth shut.'

"Ok Inu Yasha what did you mean, it meant something to you? And why did you think it meant nothing to me?"

"Doesn't matter, your going back right?" He asked being defensive. At her groan he flinched, he'd forgotten how much those damn osuwaris hurt. He chanced a glance at her from behind his bangs. What he saw surprised him, she wasn't angry, just irritated.

"I was, but I'm not sure now." She answered truthfully. He was so different now, more like the boy she had known than the man who had shown her such heights of passion. She knew she would get no where with him on the defensive. Deciding to use the skills that made her the most successful Assistant DA in Tokyo she asked. "What is your mate like?"

"I don't have one." He answered not meeting her eyes, his head lifted a fraction as he said that.

His answer brought another question to her mind, blushing she asked, "Inu Yasha ... was that your first time?"

"...." He mutered softly, his face becoming as red as his kimono.

"I didn't hear you." She had a feeling she knew the answer by his blush.

"Yes." He said louder. No sooner had the word left his lips than hers were on his. Puzzled he could only sit there as her hands pulled him closer to her. Cautiously he began to return the kiss, his arms wrapping around her waist pulling her into his lap. As they parted for air he looked at her, "Kagome?"

Smiling she answered, "Yes?"

"What did those words mean earlier? Me Core-A-Zon, Me Tes oro and Me Am-or."

She giggled, feeling once again like the school-girl she had been when they met. "The words are Spanish. Let's see. Mi Tesoro means My Treasure." She kissed him lightly on his chin. "Mi Corazon means My Heart." She kissed his nose. "Mi Amor means My Love." She brought her lips to his again. For a moment he didn't move, then she felt his smile against her lips. She felt his arms tighten around her waist as he stood only to spin her in a circle. Throwing her head back at his joy she laughed.

Inu Yasha had never known such joy, she loved him. He placed her on the ground and looked into her azure eyes, the eyes he had dreamed of for fifteen long years. "Kagome, will you be my mate?" Tears slipped from her eyes once again she didn't trust her voice and only nodded. He kissed her tears away. Then lifted her again into his arms and headed back towards the village.
