Kagome sighed as she shut her locker. She rubbed at the spot where her mark was. Fortunately, the school uniform's shirt covered it up. She'd only been back a week, but she missed him...them terribly. The only good thing was that her friends weren't trying to hook her up with Hojo. Apparently, some overly endowed blond had taken him for herself. Kagome swore that the blond had a shadow with several tails sticking out of the back, but the girl looked human enough.
Then, there were the odd occurrences of others with shadows that seem to be more demonic than the owner of that shadow. She breathed out a quiet sigh as she exited the school and made her way back home. She wasn't paying too much attention to her surroundings for she was quickly surrounded by several larger, older, boys. She stopped, hearing their laughter.
"Awe, look what we've got, fresh pussy," one sneered and the others snickered.
"Stay back!" Kagome warned them off, but they just laughed at her attempt to make herself tougher than she actually was.
"Is there a problem here?" a gruff voice questioned. The gang turned to see a white haired boy wearing jeans and a red shirt. His yellow eyes burned with rage which made the group take a step back.
"Oh, look what we've got, a tough guy wanting to get in our business huh?" the first asked.
"She ain't no piece of meat to fuck whenever you want," the white haired boy growled.
"Get out of here," the first attacker said and pulled out a knife, "or we'll kill the both of you."
"Oh really," the white haired boy asked and in a blur of motion, the attacker found his knife had been cut in two. Kagome swore she had seen the flash of the Tetsusaiga, but she shook that thought off.
"What...how..?" the attacker stammered out.
"Got anymore toys?" the white haired boy asked.
"Grrr, this bitch ain't worth the trouble, let's get out of here," the leader said and they left.
"Feh, she's my bitch and no one else has the right to call her that but me," he quietly said to himself. "You ok Kagome?" he asked while coming closer.
"Inu-Inuyasha?" she asked disbelievingly.
"Well who else would save your ass?" he growled. Kagome growled back at him then through herself against him.
"I thought...I thought I wouldn't..."
"The time loop is now broken," a female voice said from behind Kagome.
"Is that?" Kagome asked.
"Yeah, where were you? I thought I'd have to handle those bastards by myself." Inuyasha mocked complained.
"Oh you poor puppy," Haruka teased, "you'd think that you wouldn't have trouble with a bunch of teenagers after going through the hell that was Sekigahara."
"I'm just glad..." Kagome sniffled and the two half demons embraced her.
"C'mon, Sesshomaru is waiting," Haruka relayed.
"Damn bastard, impatient even at his ancient age."

"We survived because we had to. After the final destruction of the race of kenyou that plagued the land, most of the demonic tribes and packs gathered and made an agreement that to survive beyond the 1600's we would need to learn how to hide amongst the humans. The kitsumes came up with these," Sesshomaru explained and held out a necklace. "These have a charmed with a bit of kitsume magic in them. For full blooded demons such as this Sesshomaru, more magic needed to be used. For half demons like Inuyasha and Haruka, the magic didn't need to be so great."
"What about those humans that have demonic mates? How could they continue to live amongst humans without someone getting suspicious?" Kagome asked.
"Their contact with humans were limited to once a generation. However, more humans have become mates of demons over the years. We've learned that on full moon nights, if the female is fertile enough, they can actually give girth to a full demon put," Sesshomaru said with a smirk and Rin rolled her eyes playfully at her mate.
"Feh, quit bragging," Inuyasha growled.
"You might have noticed the shadows of certain individuals. These necklaces cannot block the sight of those with spiritual powers." Sesshomaru continued.
"What happened to Sango and Miroku?" Kagome asked.
"Feh, they survived long enough to have enough human pups that their blood line continues to this day, but they don't live in this part of Japan," Inuyasha answered.
"Kohaku?" Kagome asked.
"He's now the leader of a combined pack of demons and demon hunters that keep rouge demons in line," Sesshomaru answered.
"It took Momo some time to get him over what Naraku did to him," Rin added.
Sesshomaru rolled his eyes, "Mate, I wish you wouldn't call her by that name."
Rin giggled, "You just hate nicknames," she Teased.
"Feh, I'm just glad I've got my beta bitch back," Inuyasha growled.
"I wasn't enough for you?" Haruka asked with mock hurt in her voice.
"You know it was hard on you too," Inuyasha growled.
"I know," she sighed and the two half demons rubbed themselves up against Kagome who sighed in contentedness. She was where she belonged.
