A Royal Pain

Inuyasha laid there in the furs dazed by what had occurred. Sesshoumaru had taken him and it only had hurt for a moment. Sesshoumaru had done as he promised. Like always his brother told him the truth and really Inuyasha couldn’t believe it.

Sesshoumaru had mounted him several times that night and Inuyasha just felt a little sore. It had been worth it though. Inuyasha truly loved his brother and wondered why they had to fight all the damn time. Wouldn’t it have been better to be like this than to have such hate for each other?

Now he had to deal with the fact he had a wife and the fact that she was human. Inuyasha knew it wasn’t fair to Kagome to expect her to understand the lives of demons. Inuyasha had not even considered her feelings when he agreed to be her husband and they both were so young and naïve.

At that moment Inuyasha felt like a total asshole because truth was he loved Sesshoumaru more than his own wife. It wasn’t fair to Kagome for him to feel this way when Inuyasha knew that Kagome gave up everything to be with him.

At one time Inuyasha thought he would be alone for the rest of his life and had accepted it as his fate. Now he had friends and what seemed like a multitude of people who looked at him not as a hanyou, but as an equal if not more since he was a Lord now.

When it was just Kagome and his small pack of friends Inuyasha felt happy and was content in the fact that they would share many adventures together. It seemed like life was good enough at that time. But, after Naraku died, things changed again for Inuyasha. He and Miroku took over Kaede’s little village only wandering off to make money or bring food so that they could continue rebuilding Sango’s village and eventually live there although Kaede always stated they were welcome to stay in her village since they would need a new miko someday and Kagome would fill that role.

Now things changed again and Inuyasha knew he had to change once again. Being a Lord meant more responsibilities and he would be at his brother’s side majority of the time. Kagome would be a Lady and she wouldn’t be allowed to just do what she wanted like they did at the village. They would have very little time together to just do as they pleased.

Fact was Kagome was happier when it was just her, Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo together. The search for the jewel shards had ended when Naraku died. There was really no reason to remain together anymore.

The only reason the group stuck together was because of the familiarity and comfort of having people you know around you. Miroku and Sango really were ready to leave Kaede’s village since Lord Kuranosuke Takeda probably already gave them more money to fix up the demon slayer’s village. That was where Sango and Miroku belonged with their little family that was growing rather quickly.

Kagome and Inuyasha were of course allowed to stay at Kaede’s village or go with Miroku and Sango. They were even invited to live with Koga’s crazy tribe. It wasn’t like Inuyasha and Kagome didn’t have places they could go and live. They had several.

Now Sesshoumaru was going to have them all live in the castle. Inuyasha knew Sango and Miroku would not like that. They would go because Sesshoumaru ordered it. Not because it made them happy and Inuyasha planned to talk to Sesshoumaru about it in the morning. He didn’t want Sango and Miroku to be unhappy. They earned the right to their happiness.

Biggest problem was Kagome. She really didn’t belong here. She belonged in the future with her family and was needed there. Why she chose to come back was because of the love she had for Inuyasha. Inuyasha knew this and wanted it at the time. It was all Inuyasha had thought about.

This whole mating thing with Sesshoumaru changed everything. Inuyasha wasn’t sure he was happy about it. All he knew was that he loved Sesshoumaru his whole life even when his brother had hated him. Finally, now he had acceptance and love from his brother. It just wasn’t fair and Inuyasha didn’t want to choose between his brother and Kagome. It had been hard enough when he had to choose between Kagome and Kikyo.

Kikyo would have been his wife and he would have been human. It was the wrong wish, but it was what he wanted at the time. Inuyasha wanted to be one of something not mixed up since life was difficult being two things at once. Than when Kikyo died part of his heart went with Kikyo since he would always love her no matter how much he loved anyone else.

Inuyasha wasn’t sure if he wanted another hole in his heart from losing Kagome. All he knew was that it didn’t feel right to make Kagome come be something she might not want to be. Kagome deserved to be happy and once she learned that there would be very little time they would have together he just knew that Kagome would resent him.

Lord Kuranosuke Takeda was without a mate and Kagome was a very educated woman who would be a good match for a Lord like Takeda who was human like she was. Even that dumb Hojo kid back in her time would have been a better match. It was just that Inuyasha loved Kagome too.

This whole thing was just so hard. A selfish part of Inuyasha wanted to keep Kagome and Sesshoumaru. However, another part of him knew it would be best to let Kagome go.

Inuyasha really needed some good advice from someone other than Koga and Sesshoumaru. Perhaps the bear demon Lord could help. He seemed wise and his people seemed to be happy. Problem was he usually went to Miroku when something was bothering him and Miroku wasn’t here. Miroku always had good advice.

“Inuyasha……….”

Sesshoumaru couldn’t sleep with Inuyasha’s busy mind. The boy had physically worn him out, but it was his mind that was driving him insane.

“Oh, did I wake you? Sorry…….”

Sesshoumaru sighed.

“Your mind has been busy all night. You worry too much. That is my place. If you wish for Lord Hiro Nakashima to advise you than you need your rest since he and his people will be up before dawn. He is very wise so do not waste his time, just get straight to the point of the matter and he will give you the answers you seek.’
“Personally you already know how I feel about your wife, but fact is she is indeed your responsibility and as I stated before I am willing to share you until her life ends. In the end you have to make the choice for yourself. Now get some rest unless you want me to mount you again.”

Inuyasha smiled wickedly running his fingers over Sesshoumaru’s bare chest.

“I am not against you mounting me again.”

Sesshoumaru smiled and complied with Inuyasha’s demand since he needed very little sleep and could indeed keep up with the young pup.

“Don’t complain when you walk funny tomorrow my love.”

Inuyasha scoffed at that and pulled Sesshoumaru into a deep kiss since he knew what he could and could not handle. His big brother was just jealous that he was able to keep up.

Kagome finished her bath and was exhausted from lack of sleep. They tried to get her to eat something, but Kagome couldn’t. Sango told her that Inuyasha would not want to see her unwell, but Kagome just couldn’t eat. She did however drink down some potion that Lord Takeda had his healer make up for her so she could sleep although she insisted that she sleep with tessaiga.

Soon there was a ruckus in at the gates and Lord Takeda had to personally go down to see what the fuss was about.

There was a heron demon dressed in fine armor at the gates demanding entrance.

Lord Takeda surveyed the messenger. He was a tall elegant creature with long white and gray hair. His yellow eyes shown that they were battle worn and even though his armor was beautiful it was also marred from a recent battle.

“Are you Lord Takeda?”

The demon inquired.

“Yes I am the Lord of this castle.”

Kuranosuke Takeda answered unsure of why this creature was here.

“My name is Fujitaka Ine. I am a messenger from Inu No Tashio Lord Sesshoumaru and Lord Inuyasha.”

Lord Takeda told his men to move and allowed the demon entrance. This is what his guests had been waiting for.

“We are unused to having demons in our midst that are friendly so my men are on edge since we have had quite the disturbance here.”

The demon regarded the handsome young human.

“Then you are the ones that were being plagued by the Southern dragon Lord Katsutoshi Kaneko.”

Kuranosuke nodded.

“Lord Kaneko wished to take me as his mate, but instead had taken Lord Inuyasha. Tell me is Lord Inuyasha well?”

The messenger smiled.

“Indeed he is. He is currently mated to Inu No Tashio Lord Sesshoumaru and his illness has passed.”

Kuranosuke wondered how Lady Kagome would take the news.

“Do you require drink, food, or lodging?”

The messenger shook his head no.

“Thank you for the offer, but I must return to the camp. We are all congregated in the South and may be there for a few more days.”

Kuranosuke had his servants gather all the guests except for Kagome who was in much need of rest. Her friends would inform her of the news when she awoke.

Miroku came out to greet the tall demon messenger. He made Miroku feel very small, but the monk refused to be intimidated by a bird demon.

The messenger bowed before the monk and slayer.

“I have come to inform you that Lord Inuyasha is well and that he is currently with his mate Inu No Tashio Lord Sesshoumaru. They will be busy for the next few days since we have had victory in taking over the South.’
“You are to go to Inu No Tashio’s castle to await them and there will be an escort sent to insure you are received safely into the castle.”

Miroku nodded.

With that the messenger opened up his huge white and grey wings to fly back to the South.
